   Been there for lunch couples time. This time is for my son’s birthday. Food was great, chiefs did a good.job. But service was okay, could be better.

   Honestly terrible, the ambience was terrible there was a guy loudly speaking on his phone and cursing his mind off and using slurs. Waiter forgot about us half of the time and the food came room tempsture after waiting so long for it. Since we sat near the bar area we saw a chef stick his bare hand into the lemons that are out into or on the tins of the cups, i don’t care if he washed his hands he should’ve used something else to pick it up. Just such a bad experience and if you want to give it a chance even through the bad reviews, it’s not worth it!

   It was excellent and it wasn't! Appetizers were very good! They asked if we wanted white or fried rice which comes with the meal, we opted for fried rice but we we were charged for chicken fried rice which we didn't order, an extra $30 for the 4 of us. The scallops and calamari were excellent BUT the shrimp and meat were overcooked, dry and tough! My lobster should have been tender and sweet BUT it was overcooked also, dry and tough! Filet Mignon should melt in your mouth BUT that definitely wasn't the case?? It was overcooked even after we asked for it to be barely medium. It was my birthday, I ordered one drink, a Baby Blue Ocean for $17.50 and if it had any alcohol in it it was imperceptible?? We did have a good time! The cook put on a good show as usual. All in all it was fairly good. Overpriced for the quality of food we received!!

   Benihana is never 5 stars but it’s normally not too bad. However, today was the worst experience I’ve had. It was a combination of our being extra slow with service, her lack of attention to our table, and the food being terrible. Not once did the server check on us and ask if we needed anything. The one time I did get her attention to come over, she gave me the hand and just gave us to-go boxes, didn’t even ask what it was I needed — I needed water. The food was extra peppery, steak was overcooked. The bill was steep, as you’d expect for a hibachi experience, but I felt pressured to leave a tip. You’d think that paying that much at a restaurant the service would be great. The server stood there watching me as I followed the prompts on the machine to pay for the bill, and it felt like she wanted me to hand her the tip on the spot. I honestly didn’t think she deserved it. I won’t be back here for a while.

   Had a really sloppy chef, got rice on at least 3 people. An extra long wait. Server apologized several times. Then table next to us waited about 20 minutes less for a chef.

   Manager (Ramez) and Thomas (waiter) were friendly, and excellent. Very enjoyable birthday dinner for my wife, and they really went above/beyond for us.

    I really enjoy going to benihanas Burlingame for lunch. It is not crowded and the food is excellent. We had lunch in the bar and the food and service was great!! Phillip is an excellent server!
