Benihana - Atlanta - Downtown Ratings and Reviews
I dined alone, so I assumed there was an area to just enjoy a meal and not watch the show. However, my only options were to sit at the bar or watch the show. So I made the best of it and met some great people at the table for the show. The chef was great, food was wonderful. Only complaint is the hostess would take a long time to return since the resteraunt became busy. Would return again soon.
We made a reservation for 8:30 pm. We spend 4 hrs there. We wait almost two hours to get the table. After that we wait 1 hr for the chef. I made that reservation to receive a friends from Fl and have a good time with them in City. The experience was not good. The waiting time was ridiculous. Very bad organization.
We had a reservation at 7pm. We get there and they said it would be a wait, that was fine but then it started to get past 30 minutes so we asked again how long. Maybe another 15 minutes. Long story short we ended up waiting for an HOUR And THIRTY MINUTES after our reservation time. After we got seated it took another hour for the cook to come out. Now I know this place isn’t like a normal restaurant and we have to wait for the guest to get up and leave, so why even have a system where you can book reservations on the weekend if we aren’t going to be sat until 2 hours later? The food was good and our waitress kept us laughing but the manager stayed she would give us something off for the long wait time and when we got our bill she didn’t take anything off. I didn’t care if she did or didn’t but don’t say you are going to do something and then tell the whole table that’s not what you said. This was our first time visiting this location but we know now to go back to the other one instead.
We arrived at the restaurant on time. It was crowed around the entrance. They found the reservation on their computer but they said they were a little short-handed and did not know when we would get seated. They couldn't even give us a time estimate. There was a group waiting next to us. Our reservation was for 7:30. Their reservation was for 7:00 and they were still waiting. What is the point of getting a reservation when the restaurant will not honor it? Why use your app when the restaurant will not honor it? You should remove Benihana from your app. We went somewhere else to eat. I gave everything one star because this survey isn't entered until every category is rated.
We go to this particular Benihana's often. Not sure what was different this time, but we were not happy. Food was ok. Service was not great. Wait was ridiculous for food and drinks. (Yes I had a reservation ). We had reservation for 9 and didn't even get drinks until almost 9:45
We arrived and we were seated promptly. The server was attentive and even though she was juggling 2 other table she still managed to give us great customer service. Food was plentiful and ambience was not overly loud as to be annoying. We had a great dining experience.
I was looking forward to this for about a month. I hate to say I was very disappointed. First off the wait. I booked a reservation to avoid this problem. Get there and people who came in after my party was sat right away. When asked what was the reason they simply said they offer looked my name. Finally getting to the table and while ordering I was told they were out of sushi. Like completely out. How? Idk. As stated I was really looking forward to this dinner and wad really looking forward to the las Vegas sushi and couldn't have it. Next the cook. Didn't not interact with the table. Just cooked the food, made a heart with the rice and that was it. Lastly the birthday song. I was there to celebrate my birthday usually they sing in Japanese and the whole experience is fun. Not this time. He was not going to sing if someone also at the table did not ask. And he only acknowledged that one group. I brought along someone who has never been to the restaurant before and telling them all good things but sadly we were both left disappointed.
We were over the 15 minute grace period for our reservation time, however, it took a significant amount of time from where we parked to locating the restaurant, we came in through the mall on Peachtree, and once we found the restaurant, we weren’t greeted for a long period of time, prob 10 min or so. We were told that it was the rear entrance but we had never been there before so wouldn’t know any different. We were then made to wait over an hour even though our parking ticket aligned with the reservation time. The Manager suggested that we try other local restaurants if we didn’t want to wait. It was my son’s birthday and this is where he wanted to eat. I had called ahead to determine where to park but the actual main entrance is on a different street than the physical address. They need to email directions and parking info and detail on the bookings page of Open Table. Our waitress didn’t bring over birthday treat or take pictures til after she took up the check, I felt as if it was an afterthought, that she remembered we were there for a birthday. Next time I’ll make the drive to the Buckhead location, where i’ve never experienced a problem with parking, customer service, or wait staff. We only came here because my daughter’s dorm is downtown.
We set our reservation for 6:30. We arrived on time. We left at 7:15 with out having been seated. At least half the tables were empty. The people who were seated were waiting a long time with just waters. Was under staffed and seemed unclean to me. I love Benihana's, but not this one. We had a very nice meal at Cuts Steakhouse just 200 feet away, and were seated immediately.
Service was horrible. Waiter left and came back every 30 minutes. My reservation was at 7:30 I was seated at 7:50. I didn’t get my entree until 9:11. After waiting for refills and the ticket and the last course (ice cream) it was after 10:00 when I left.
We had a reservation at Benihana's (229 peachtree). We arrived (myself, my daughter and two grandchildren - a one and two year old) on time. No one was there to greet us, after waiting I finally flagged someone down. Once he returned after checking us 15 minutes later he said we arrived late and could not seat us and that we would be on the waiting list for 40 minutes. After telling him we were there on time and no one was there when we arrived to check us in he said they were on the opposite end of the dining room and we should have found them. This was rude unaccommodating and bad business practices. The restaurant was full and it is clear they do not honor reservations here.
Worst experience EVER! I will never step foot at this location ever again. Let's start with a reservation myself and 2 other colleagues had at 2pm. Our fault, we all arrived around 2:16 ,due to a accident on Peachtree street that was causing our tardiness. I make a call at 2:02 advising that we were running late. I was told that we had a 15 min window. Great, or so I thought. When we first entered there was a line already formed. So we all assumed this was the line. We lost time standing there only to realize all those people had already checked in..yet was staying in formation. Our fault again. Finally walk around and check in, server tells me it will be about 25 mins since we were past our reservation time..No prob. We wanted to catch up anyways, so we stood chatting for a good while. We go check again on the wait as we have past the 25min mark. Server 2 apologizes and seats all of us at table 1. So now we are seated for another 10 mins maybe even longer before server 1 comes to us and say I don't know why she sat y'all here, this table doesn't work. By now we are a little irritated by the service. So we asked to speak to a Manager to get moved to a working table. We sat another 5 or so minutes and this lady walks up to the table and rudly says "Y'all wanted to see me?" Shocked, we all kinda looked at each other and I proceeded to introduce myself and explain from the start that we just wanted to be moved to a working table. The lady interrupts me and began to say "y'all missed your reservations, you shouldn't have been seated in the first place." Offended, I said to her we understand we were late, however we didn't just come walk back here and seat ourselves, your staff seated us. Long story short the lady was very confrontational. Refused to give us corporate number. Told me to "Google " it! Also when asked her name she yelled Michelle I'm the GM! Immediately I was embarrassed that I had engaged in a verbal war with this lady.
I had a reservation for 7:00 pm. I arrived 15 minutes prior to my reservation. I was not seated to 7:45 pm. I watched people another group of people walk straight in the door, to be seated immediately, when I inquired about this to the manager, I was insured those people were not seated, but merely passing through the establishment. When I was seated, I saw those very same people, I inquired about seated at a table. Furthermore, it took an additional hour for the chef to show up to our table. He didn't to take his job seriously. He dropped one of the eggs, in his trick, cracking it, and had to remove egg shells. Additionally, he dropped almost all of the tails from shrimp tails in the hat trick, he dropped the pepper three times in the pepper shaker trick, right into the middle of the rice he was prepping. Lastly, when I asked for additional garlic butter in my rice, he told me it would be an additional charge without cracking a smile, and plopped it on my rice when it had already cooled, therefore it did not melt, but just laid on my rice, looking unappealing. I asked him to place it in my rice while he was still preparing it. I was there for a birthday celebration. Overall, my experience was fair, and that was because of my company, not because of my service, or treatment.
Soooooo we had "reservations" for 7:30pm but no chef until 9pm. I don't think much else needs to be said about that.
In regards to the food- I've had much better hibachi at my local spot minus the hefty price tag. We definitely paid for the name of the restaurant instead of the quality/taste of the food.
One positive... my drink was strong and kept me calm and mellow, because I was NOT happy. Guests from out of town to celebrate my birthday and got crappy food and service. Sigh...
The service was horrible. Reservations were set for 5:30pm. We were seated at 5:32pm. We got our drinks pretty quick. However, we didn't receive our soup until about 6:20pm and our salad around 6:45pm. Also, the waitress forgot to take everyone's order, so some people hadn't gotten anything. There were people who didn't even get a menu. Children who did not get crayons. No Yum Yum. Just horrible😞 I ordered the Splash & Medow which is a six course meal that comes with soup, salad, sherbet/ice cream, rice, shrimp&steak, Japanese tea, and a shrimp appetizer. I told the waitress that I would like to substitute my soup & salad for double rice she said o.k. She asked did I want (CHICKEN FRIED RICE or VEGETABLE RICE)
I chose veggie rice. The chef came around 7:15pm, & everyone ate and when my bill came it charged me rice@ 2x's ($6). I asked the waitress why did it say this and she said that "Splash & Meadow comes with STEAMED rice and that there is an upcharge for any other type." I explained that she gave me two options and neither were steamed rice, also she neglected to tell me that when I asked for double rice. Mind you I still hadn't gotten my soup or salad, tea, or ice cream. So, it's basically like I just opted of of those for no reason. She knew very well that know one would say keep something if they knew it wasn't getting substituted. Like who does that? I love soup anddd salad. Ice cream too! Once she brought the check, several people at our table were asking about the sherbet/icecream, Japanese tea, etc and she explained that she had forgotten. This was the worst experience I have EVER HAD. I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN! 🙅🏽Benihana does not even come close to Stix, Sumo, Shogun, Kobe's or ANY other hibachi eatery. I am VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY D I S S A T I S F I E D!!
My wife and I are Hibachi connoisseurs and I especially like Benihana, unfortunately this Benihana suffers from extremely poor management. The whole operation deals with fluctuations in food consistency, timely service, getting orders correct, etc. An example would be this past Sunday when it took 1.5 hours before the soup was served, our meal took 3 hours total and our out of town family nearly missed their flight home. I get the impression that given the area they are in, they know they will have enough business from conferences and in town events to keep the doors open regardless of quality.
