Benihana - Atlanta - Downtown Ratings and Reviews
The customer service by far at this location has gone downhill over the last year. This location is in the heart of downtown Atlanta and they only had three chefs preparing lunch with all tables filled to capacity. After sitting at the table for 45 minutes I asked one of the managers how much longer and her response was it will take the chef an hour and half to prepare our food. That was not my question. I wanted to know how much longer would our table if 8 have to wait beyond the 45 minutes the chef eccentric came over. It took so long that 2 if the quest had to leave to return to work. You expect on a Friday at a restaurant in the heart of downtown that they would be prepared. How wrong were we. It took 2 and and half hours and just so you know the. Hey was done in 30 minutes!
The new managers are the worse!
Our server and chef however made the experience a pleasant one.
This location has turned into Buckhead!
My family and I have been coming to this location for years but won't be returning. Reservation was at 5:30 and we were seated maybe 15 minutes early. The issue was we were seated with four other people that included a toddler. I have no issue with that, but my mom and brother had no room to move at all. I discretely asked the hostess if we could be moved and she made a big issue out of it. She made it seem as if the five of us wanted our own table which wasn't the issue, just not at that table. The restaurant wasn't full so I don't understand what the issue was. We were eventually moved but she and the manager just ruined my night. What happened to the previous manager? This location seems to have gone downhill.....Buckhead or Alpharetta will be my location of choice moving forward.
This used to be one of my favorite places to go 4 special occasions . This location has taken a turn for the worst. The quality of staff and the appearance of the restaurant itself seems to have gone down over the years. The restrooms did not have hot water, nor were they adequately stocked with toilet paper or soap. The service was slow and our server missed several opportunities to provide excellent service because they appeared to be understaffed. I went there to celebrate my birthday, but I won't be back.
Service was absolute horrible!! Took 3 hours from beginning to end and no one seemed to care. Manager offered free appetizers but never took them off our bill so we ended up paying for those too. Seems this is the norm as we discovered on their Facebook page. Can’t believe corporate allows this type of service.
The patrons were extremely loud and rowdy. They were dancing and carrying on in the dining area. We had reservations for 7:30pm we were not seated until 8:00. After sitting there for an hour and our chef hadnt come out i asked the waitress how long the wait would be because we had a flight to catch. She was very sweet and honest. Told us they were low on staff and there was another table ahead of us waiting for a chef. She had no ETA on when the chef would arrive and told us we wouldnt make our 10pm boarding time if we stayed. We asked about carryout and she said even that would take over an hour. She offered us free fried rice for the inconvenience however it was not comparable to the money spent. We were only in town for a 3 hour lay over. We caught $30 each on ubers there and back and all we received was two SMALL carryout containers of fried rice. While we were there we observed them turning patrons away saying they were booked for the evening when in all actuality only 4 tables were filled they just had no cooks. We will not be going back or recommending to others. Not only did we not get food and we wasted money we had to catch a flight hungry!
The service was horrible... We went on New Year's day so they made us order from a "holiday menu"... For the price of the food and the amount you receive, it's definitely NOT worth it... the service was horrible... Your server has to bring you your rice if you don't pay an EXTRA $3.50 to have them to cook it on the grill... my meats and vegetables came out before my server brought my starchy rice out... with reservations we waited 45mins for a table and the restaurant had very few people in it. Not sure what the hype is about but I will not be returning...
AWFUL experience. The only reason I gave it 1 star is because it wouldn’t allow me to leave it blank- which is what it deserves. We had a 7 pm reservation and weren’t even seated until about 8:10pm. At first we were told it would “only be a few mins”, which later turned in to “we will have a table ready in maybe 20 mins” to “hopefully it will be soon”. Once we were finally seated, shortly after 8 pm, we were told that they were unsure when our chef would be able to come and start cooking at our table. It was clear that they were understaffed- on a weekend when the entire city was packed with people in town for New Years and/or the Peach Bowl???? We chose to leave - having lost all confidence that they would be able to provide any type of reasonable service- and found a restaurant around the corner that was able to seat us immediately - despite not having a reservation- with excellent food and service. I would NEVER recommend Benihana to ANYONE. Additionally, the overall appearance was dated and in need of an overhaul. Utter disappointment.
I gave a low rating on some because I made a reservation a week in advance and when we got there we had to wait then the person who sat us sat the people down who was angry because they were waiting for 45 mins which they were told that was the wait time. My party and I were ontime and had to wait to be seated. What was the need to make a reservation if we still had to wait. They need some type of organization just like they didn't let open table know that I made it to my reservation that I made. Our waitress and cook JOJO was EXCELLENT!! Our food was delicious!
Cook did not perform a show as usual place was loud server was rushing us and barely came back to table.grill was up too high and rice and food was crunchy.server forgot our xtra chicken fried rice and gave vegatable rice instead.worst Benihana Ever!!! We drove 2hours for nothing
I love food in Benihana. Unfortunate the waiting is really bad. We tried all three locations and this was the fastest, close to an hour before our chef arrived. And mind you, I had reservations so no excuse why we had to wait that long. Sucks because we love their food but getting sick of the service
We had a reservation and included in the notes that we wanted an express lunch. When we arrived they were shocked we wanted an express lunch. AND despite having lunch here numerous times before and sitting at the hibachi table for express lunch today they acted as if that was impossible. The manager came over and said she could put us at the sushi bar- she wanted my party of 7 celebrating christmas to face raw fish for 1.5 hrs and not engage with each other??? NO thank you! We asked if we could do regular hibachi at the normal table and not do express lunch and were told there were no tables...sigh! How is that possible when we had a reservation!! We won't come back.
this is the worst experience in a restaurant i’ve ever had. we had a reservation but still had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. next, when we were seated, the server set down the menus and left us without asking us even if we wanted something to drink. we waited about 15 more minutes and left. too understaffed on a sunday. never ever going back! ended up going to a chinese place across the street that seated us immediately and the service was good.
I have been going her for over 12 years and the food is amazing. But the service has had a major downfall. I had reservation and when we got there we were seated but it took an hour and a half for our chef to come out. The other people who were at the table had been sitting there 30 minutes before we even came in. Then we were told by the manager that we would be taken care of. After the meal the other people left. When they left the waiter brought us the check and asked where rhe orher people wenr. We told him they ledt cause the manager said she was takinf care of us. Then they bring us a bill with $12.00 taken off the whole bill. Why are we paying and the other people left. And the reason they were running behind was because there was a party of 30 that made a reservation and then when they got there they had 40 people. So instead of making sure all the guests who had reservations had their spots they decided to accommodate those extra 10 people and neglect the people who already had their reservations. I am very dissatisfied as a customer and I probably will not go to this location again.
Worst experience I have ever had at a Benihana restaurant. Place a reservation a month prior for a holiday lunch with some of my coworkers (party of 5). We arrived on time for our reservation but apparently a much larger group had arrived just ahead of us. Our reservation was for noon. We were not sat until 12:30pm. A waiter didn't come to our table until 12:50pm after I bugged the hostess about it. Our waitress said that only two servers were on the floor right now but they had plenty of cooks. Our cook didn't arrive until 1:45pm. Our order wasn't take correctly so some items had to be re-cooked. Our meal didn't finish until after 2:30pm. I had to ask for a manager to come to our table as either they weren't aware of our wait or didn't care.
Made a reservation for 8pm on a Sunday night. Was seated promptly however, the cook did not arrive at the table till over 1hr later. Mid-way through the meal the front doors were chained together. This is in violation of the fire code.
Police arrived at some point through the meal and were lead to the managers office to review security footage. I think there was a dine and dash.
Food was okay, not particularly great but, good portion. The server did not come back to the table while the cook was there for beverage refills.
Do not park at the parking lot directly across from the restaurant. Lots of broken glass on the ground indicating that cars were broken into.
I would not visit this location again.
I had reservations for Saturday, a party of 3 at 2pm. I drove from Lexington, SC and got there around 2:50pm. When I arrived, there was a sign on the door that said they didn’t have any chefs available, therefore we could not dine in. I did not receive a call, text nor email saying any of this and I’m very upset at the lack of communication, especially since we had drove to Atlanta with a planned lunch.
Unfortunately due to the storm, we were told that they wasn’t going to open until 3. I was wondering why we wasn’t told prior knowing that there were reservations. They let us in and we was about to sit at the bar. The food wasn’t as good as it being cooked in front of us. That was the worse food experience I had from them. Overall, it was okay. Service was okay & atmosphere was okay
This was actually my first visit. I was celebrating my daughter's 16th birthday with her. This was an additional mid- week celebration. The only reason that I did not give this restaurant a 5 Overall is because you have to watch where you sit if you have a younger person with you. Thank goodness my daughter is a teenager. We were seated by a group of young men who were drinking quite a lot. As they got drunker, the conversation got more vulgar.
As for the food, my daughter and I love the hibachi style cooking, and I love the healthy selections, such as the green tea, the veggies, and the steamed rice.
This location was very unprofessional. Saturday 11/25/17 was my birthday 🎂 and I had reservations for 7:30pm that evening and I booked on the open table app which allowed me to only booked for 8 people but when I called this particular location the hostess on the phone told me that if I have extra people added to my party that they would accommodate accordingly. I arrived at 7:45 because I ran into some traffic on the highway I called and told the hostess I was running late and that some of my party was there since 7:20pm. The hostess stated that I had a grace period and I should be find. When I got to the restaurant I was told differently and that they couldn’t seat my party with the fifteen people that I had there and that they only could seat the 8 people. I had gotten overwhelmed and upset 😠 and I fainted in the restaurant. The ambulance 🚑 came and checked me out and the manager still didn’t help to accompany even when I got sick 😷. I felt this whole entire experience was very upsetting and unprofessional. I also had a birthday coupon and they told me they couldn’t honor it and that I could use it during the week. I didn’t understand because I didn’t see where that was stated on the coupon. The manager that night was very rude. I hated my experience at this location being that it was my first time eating at Benihana and that it was my birthday 🎂 .
We were late for our reservation, the address and GPS had us searching on Peachtree however the entrance is actually 1 block over on the 1 way street on the backside of the mall.
While they were looking to close we were still seated and treated well and allow to celebrate my son' birthday. We were last seated for the evening but the server and chef still took great care of us.
Only negative is location and the pan handlers downto
