Benihana - Anchorage Ratings and Reviews
Usually I would give 5 stars all across. However this last visit was not to good. The food was not prepared properly, chicken and steak were both dry as a bone. My friends sushi roll was terrible she didn’t even eat it. It was a birthday get together and it was really disappointing.
Best time ever...will be back very soon! Always a challenge to think what you can do for bday celebration with a 20 something year old. This was so much fun....grandma was having just as much fun as the kids. Justin was excellent...thank you for so much entertainment!
Chef Dennis is outstanding and Lupe was there to tend every need. We never had to wait for service. Benihana Anchorage is the best restaurant hands down in Alaska. We have lived in Chicago and New York and this destination is the only destination that even compares to the quality you would find in the food capitals of the world!! Great job..as usual!!!
Good food and creative food presentations. A good way to meet new people.
Not a good idea for a date night or to meet someone to talk. you have other people at your table and a chef cooking your food so it doesn't make much for opportunity to conversate with those who are with you.
Worst Benihana experience ever. We normally love it here but our recent visit was horrible. Coldest day of the year so far and we got to sit under a powerful vent with cold air blowing on my family including two small children. Mgmt acknowledged the problem when we complained but didn’t even offer to move us even though the restaurant wasn’t even full so we had to sit there in our winter coats! Then we sat for an hour waiting until the chef came out, but that was only after I complained and asked when we were going to be able to eat. My poor kids were starving by the time we were served the first round of food. Not exactly the 32nd birthday I had hoped for my husband. They didn’t even sing to him until almost 9pm when we had already paid the check and were ready to head home (we got there at 6:30). They mgmt knew all the problems and didn’t apologize, offer a free drink, or even a discount. Sadly they did nothing to try and make it right other than pretty much ignore us all night. We’ve been longtime customers but it will be awhile until I go back again to this one. I think next time we will try Kobe and reccomend you do the same.
We had reservations at 630 and the chef didn't start cooking until 740pm. We were constantly reassured false information that our chef was prepping his cart. In the meantime, our drink order was slow and had to send back the wine glass because it had lipstick stains on it. Once the chef came he was very mellow and not entertaining at all. We ended up watching the table across from us for entertainment. Good thing our son is easily entertained. When the manager came by at the end I told him is was a negative experience and that we have had much better shows in the past. His response was not to me but my three year old..."watch this trick!" as he threw his glass in a circle. Either he didn't understand my feedback or he was just trying to avoid it. He was young and very unprofessional as he avoided constructive feedback and conversation. The food was average. Coming to Benihana in the past I can honestly say it has declined as a restaurant in aspects of organization, Customer care, value and entertainment. We will not recommend nor return to Benihana in the future.
We frequent Benihana as we’ve always enjoyed the food. It’s been a fun place to take the kids.
However, the past couple of times we’ve been there the service has been extremely slow and our cooks seem very inexperienced. Our dining time took almost twice as long as in the past.
Uncertain if we’ll go back based on our last couple of dinners.
The staff was friendly and entertaining, the quality of meats was very poor. The Teriyaki steak was chewy, the mushrooms were absolutely delicious; however, I was last in line for portions and only got about 5 mushrooms :(
The tuna steak was not fresh at all, the taste was something hard to forget in a negative way :(
My children, 7 and 10, had an excellent time, they thought the show was absolutely amazing and it was worth going for that. If our meat would have been good we would be back soon; as it is, we will have to take time to forget why we don't want to go back.
Chef Kayzee was wonderful!!!!!! The food was great and he was very entertaining.
Our server was terrible! We had high hopes since he started out by telling us how he was here to take care of us, just to flag him down and he would get whatever we needed. That would have been great if we could find him. He seemed to disappeared for long periods of time. Someone in our group ordered iced tea which never arrived. He brought a tray of soup, but left off one. It took him a very long time to return with that soup (actually he didn't bring it till he brought everyone salad). He didn't bring any steamed rice until very late in our meal after we asked for it (as we couldn't find him). We had 3 birthday certificates which he took when he took our orders. When we got our bills, he forgot to take the certificates off. Again, we had a long wait for him to fix that. Everything seemed to take him a very long time!
