Restaurant was very loud and the service was very slow
Celebrating my sons’ 13th birthday. He had a blast & enjoyed his special day.
My family loves eating here at Benihana's but after the service we had last week don't know if we would come back and it's a shame. We had a reservation and arrived a little bit early and the attendee told us we would be seated right away. (Its lunch on a Saturday) 20 minutes later we are still waiting while other people are being sat left and right. We ask if we will be seated and ask for a manager and the attendee says I am the manager. With no urgency says you will be sat next without really showing any care for the customer. We sit and waiter Chris was great but cook was not so good. We ordered spicy fried rice and while wife was away and I was feeding my child, cook decided to throw the whole cup of chili on the two bowls of rice. Every single time we have gone they have always asked how spicy would be like it. My wife tasted it and started coughing for how spicy it was. Told Chris that rice was WAY too spicy and cook looked at us in disgust and never said "sorry" or acknowledged us for it (he knew we didn't like it because Chris brought us another bowl). I mean you spend over $100 for a meal and was very disappointed in the service. Very disappointed customer
Great place, excellent service and the Teppanyaki is second 2 None!
Great food and experience!
Our experience was awesome. Our server was great and the chef was better then I could imagine. I would recommend that place to anyone who is looking for an amazing meal and service
Benihana never disappoints... Terrific food & service!
RESERVATION WAS FOR 7PM, DIDN'T GET SEATED UNTIL ALMOST 8PM, STILL WAITED ANOTHER 30 MINUTES FOR CHEF. WAS A BIRTHDAY DISASTER, EVERYONE WAS STARVING AND CHEF GOT OUR ORDER MIXED UP WITH THE OTHER PART AT OUR TABLE. FISH BOWL WAS NOTHING BUT SUGAR AND OVER ALL THE AMBIANCE, FOOD AND SERVICE WAS NOT WORTH IT.
Making a reservation was easy, thanks to OpenTable.
We were there on time with our party of 5 but was made to wait 10-15 Minutes for a party of 3 to check in. Annoying when you have hungry kids.
The hostess sat us in a dirty private teppanyaki station. It didn’t dawn on her that it wasn’t prepped. As I was scooting into a booth, I placed my hand on the wooden eating surface only to find a pool of what I think was cooking oil. It was gross. I pointed this out to the hostess who had a clueless look on her face and I asked for a napkin. She disappeared. She then came back and stated we were sat at the wrong table. Did she bring a napkin? No. As we moved to the other table, I saw a gentleman in a red shirt at what looked like a manager at a host station. I asked if he was a manager and he said yes. I told him what happened and asked for a napkin.
I could not have received any more of a less apologetic response. He could care less. I did get my napkin.
The new table was set. However, the floor had used chopsticks and there was a broken shelf filled with garbage.
We ordered a California roll. It was mangled and they didn’t serve it with soy sauce. Tasted ok. It didn’t dawn on the runner and they took off before I could say anything. The waitress wasn’t anywhere close by. I walked over to the sushi bar to get the soy sauce myself. The sushi chef kid seemed lost with the request (no soy at the sushi bar) but left to get some. He was nice.
The teppanyaki chef was nice but burned the vegetables (past the yummy char). He did cook the filet and shrimp perfectly.
The manager never checked in and waitress, while nice, took forever to refill beverages.
I’ve been to multiple locations of Benihana, including this one, and many other teppanyaki restaurants around the US, and this was by far THE worst experience.
I think the staff needs to shadow the Torrance staff.
I wouldn’t go back to this location. Thumbs down.
Our family had a great time.
I think if I go there, I'm more for the whole package like the company and the chef's excellent experience. Frankly, the food isn't the strength but my son was so mesmerized that he forgot to eat his dinner! So it's worth every penny I paid.
First time at Benihanas for a lot of people at my event.
My family and friends went for my son's 13th birthday. Before I talk about our experience, let just say that getting their $30 certificate for birthday boy was the WORST experience ever! I couldnt sign my child up for the bday certificate until he turned 13 on or after the date of his birthday. So being the patient person I am, I waited until 4/2/18 to sign him up. BUT the confirmation told me it would take 24 hours for them to send the ceetificate. So how would anyone be able to use it on the day of their birthday then? I give that a rating of 0 out of 5. BTW, I still have not received my certificate and it's been 2 days since our event.
The food was good, the service was fine (even though the waitress spilled sauce all over herself), and the chef at the adult table was great. My son's table with his friends, not so much. The chef was not communicating or doing anything special to have them say "whooooaaa." They were expecting some flips and tricks with the spatula.
Overall, I would give my experience a 3 out 5.
Excellent service and food. The chef was fantastic and very entertaining plus very capable. The waitress was very accommodating and flexible and the price was reasonable. Great Easter brunch.
Chef made mediocre food. He wasn’t personable and we waited forever for dessert
It was great.
Reservation for 10:15pm we didn’t get seated until 10:50pm. Server came and took our drinks and orders , cook didn’t show up until 11:30pm. Food was ready to eat at midnight after chef worked 10.5 hours that day and spilled bowl of rice on me as he attempted to perform a trick. Server showed up twice the entire 2 hours we were there. We waited for a server to bring the extra rice he spilt and it didn’t show up until the shire meal was cooked. He made my rice when I was done eating so we took it home .Menus were sticky and disgusting. Tokyo wako is a much better deal for your buck. Never again. Benihana isn’t what is used to be, regardless of it being Easter weekend. A business should prep before a big weekend like this. All hands on deck. Management should be checking for quality. The place was being ran by kids, besides the lady who was the bidder.
Our reservations was 9:45 but we didn't get to sit till an hour later. Very busy place. But the good part was our cook was good and the food was very good. I can say worth of wait. But I hope next time they will stick to the reservation time.
We have been to Benihana's many time and always have fun. It was our anniversary and they made us feel special. Our chef was very good and the food was fresh and good. Our table was fun!
Hector was a great cook!
A great experience as always and a perfect place to celebrate special occasions.
Excellent food and service always a super fun experience
Always a good time at Benihana! Thank you for making my birthday special!
Nice family dinner celebrating my father and I birthdays.
Came for dinner and we have came many times and the server came around maybe twice but that’s because I asked the chef to get our waitress the first time.
I love when the cooks really interact when the table. If you want a fun cook ask for Moran. Our weitress is good but this time she to very very long to get back to the table. She forgot things that we asked her for and we had to wait a while.
Overall it was a great experience.
Food was good, our server was real nice and all but she did take a long time to take our drinks and place our food order. She also messed up on our order and had to have the food made in the back which was a bummer because the point is to have the food made in front of you.
It was so crowded they sat us 9 adults to one 8 person table. It was VERY uncomfortable. The waitress and Chef did a great job, just wasn’t happy with the uncomfortable experience
We arrived 1 hour before our Reserved Time of 7:30 PM but still didn't get seated until almost 1 hour after our Reserved Time of 7:30 PM, so we sat in the bar area and had drinks and appetizers, maybe this is the plan of the restaurant to make more money; so plan on spending plenty of time there on a busy night such as a Saturday. Our Chef was experienced and a good cook, also very friendly! We did have some difficulty getting service from the waitresses; ours had to take a break and her replacement only visited the table one time while ours was on break which was about 45 minutes. We were celebrating 3 birthdays. Overall the Visit to Benihana's took up the whole evening. We will return but I don't think we will be in a hurry to do so, maybe next year? We were disappointed when the waitress told us they were out of paper for the camera so they couldn't take the customary photo.
Our server was excellent and the food and the chef we're terrific.
This was an overall good experience, we sat with 2 other groups and it was lively and well enjoyed. Only down fall was it was for my birthday and I didn't get my picture that they took of me. We tried calling the restaurant but they only said they would call us back and we've not heard from them.
We were seated over 30 minutes late. It was so crowded, so noisy, no room to wait in the front of the restaurant. When we checked on our table, we were told there were 5 or 6 parties ahead of us. WHAT?! For a reservation? This location is always running late. The food was also so salty, so garlicky, so oily. There was oil dripping from the ceiling. I love Benihana but this was just a mess.
It was great - the only bummer is when we had our crunch roll it wasn’t fresh tasting and it took awhile to get delivered- other than that it was great as always!
I have been to many Benihana Resturants and this one before. For some reason this last time they seemed to have cut the size of their portions of food considerably. It is not worth the money you pay for the amount of food you get. I ordered a Land and Sea and got 6 tiny scallops, about the size of a quarter each and a small filet. It was pathetic! My wife ordered Shrimp and Steak and the shrimp where small and the steak was tiny. The kids meal had as much food as her's!
I would avoid this location until they improve their portion sizes of food. There are many other teppanyaki places that are much better in flavor and value.
The food was yummy, the show was great, and we even enjoyed the family sitting next to us! This is a fun place to celebrate your birthday!!
They squeezed 9 people on 1 table. We were a party of 6 and they put 3 more people and we could barely move to eat and it was so uncomfortable.
We have eaten here many times and find it to be very consistent, our kids love it and always ask to go to dinner here. A bit expensive for some, but we consider it entertainment as well.
It was the worst experiences ever made reservation for 7 pm and never was seated it was 8:15 and had to walk out because everyone that came in was getting seated and we were not Acknowledg'd at all made are anniversary dinner the worst , there is no reason for a reservation if they don't go by that.
First time at Benihana, and I loved it !!
I will truly recommend it to my family and friends.
