Benihana - Anaheim Ratings and Reviews
We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation and our reservation was running late 20 minutes. Then at the table it took a little more than an hour and 10 minutes for them to start cooking that has never happened in the past and we brought it to the manager's attention. We ordered tempura vegetables and we did request no mushrooms and they added mushrooms and the way they fixed it was they took the plate back made some vegetables and added it to the original platter so now you had mostly cold tempura vegetables . that was not acceptable we should have brought it to their attention but it was way too busy and we just said oh well... the server took a picture of the family and cut my grandson's body off. you mostly seen the background wall... not sure if I would come to this location anymore.
We had an 830 reservation, and was sat quickly. Unfortunately, that's where the service ended. It took over 10 minutes before they came to get a drink order. Once that was established, the server brought our drinks and each course in a relatively acceptable manner. The chef however, did not come to the table until over an hour after we were seated, 935. Once he started cooking, the chef seemed like he was rushing. He lacked flair and social skills, and it was a disappointing show. The server was very slow as well, and I had to flag her down if I needed anything. I frequent this location, however, the lack of service and care was the worst I have ever had. I will make the drive to Fullerton and eat at Chomp instead.
After going to BenihAna Anaheim, I would not go back to that location. Once the chef arrived to our table, a customer at our table told him to just cook fast and not do any tricks and that’s exactly what he did. It was unfair that I go to BenihAna to watch a chef cook my food and do fun things, but my experience got dictated by one customer. With that being said, Noel cooked my chicken fried rice quickly and it tasted very bland along with the vegetables. I gave the service 3 stars because although the chef did not do a good job, the waitress provided excellent service.
No the best experience at this location. We drive from upland and only come to this one and another one because service has been great here but today 01-15-2018 this time was horrible. We went for lunch before an appointment gave ourselves a good 2.5 hours before the appointment time. We even made reservations ahead of time. We sat down and we never mind another party with us. But this time they sat a party of 12 and the nerve of the adults threw the kids with us. The host did not say anything which is wrong there should be a responsible adult with them. Come on these kids were like 6 and younger, at one point they move a toddler like age 1 in a high chair to our table. Theses people had issues. The cook was confused and kept asking us questions about the kids food and I kept saying they are not with us ask the parents. It got to the point where they had all the ifs and buts about the rice and items they order the cook had to restart twice. At this point I was annoyed and not at the kids more the parents. I'm not a nanny to baby sit your children while I'm trying to watch over mine. Benihana needs a policy that a responsible adult needs to sit next to any minor. They can't have kids tables.
Benihana has been a birthday tradition for our family. We love the show and fun atmosphere.
Maybe the Anaheim location has been overbooked with visiting tourist that they don’t expect to return. We started off with a sour faced hostess and a long wait in the bar. When seated, our waitress was pleasant, but there were long waits for drinks and service. Dishes were piling up. It was also unpleasant to be facing the adjacent grill where dishes were left stacked all evening after the diners left.
Fun group, but disappointing service.
Went for my son's 18th birthday. We had Chef Benny. He was super funny, energetic and very engaging. Was not comfortable about sitting at a table with four other strangers but Benny brought the group together with his jokes and interactive serving so the night was great. Would recommend to anyone looking for a little entertainment with their dinner.
Benihana is a great place for special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. It gets very loud in their from all tempanyaki chefs doing their "show" and guests talking. Our chef was late to the table but it was unexpectedly busy that night. The chef cooked our food perfectly especially the chateaubriand. The servers also need to mention that the chicken fried rice is extra. We would have ordered steamed rice if that were the case. She just mentioned it like we had the choice of one or the other. Otherwise, we had a nice experience.
We've been coming to this location for years. Lately, we've seen changes for the worst. You have new employees who are very slow. We were waiting for our server a very long time. Other tables had better and quick service. We ordered sushi, was not given a tiny bowl for the wasabi or soy sauce. We were very disappointed!
They made us wait 40 minutes even though we had a reservation. Also, they wanted to sit us next to people. I reserved a table for my hroup of 6 for a reason. Therefore, I left with my family to the restaurant across named El Torito and we had an amazing time there instead and the food was absolutely amazing and the best service.
I’ve been a fan of Benihana’s my whole life but this location was a disappointment.
Started with a busboy cleaning the table next to us and sweeping food from the floor onto my shoe. The chef didnt have a personality to make the cost of the experience worth it at all! Just was disappointed
Out family loves Benihana, but this experience was not good at all. We had reservations and were told they were running 15 mins behind. It was more like 30 mins. Once were were finally seated the waitress took forever to get there and still waited another 20 mins for the cook. The cook was super nice and waitress too. Maybe they were understaffed that day? But I doubt we’ll go back.
This restaurant is usually good, but the cook we had that day was horrible. The food had no flavor. I don't even know the cooks name because he didn't have on a name tag. That's the only problem with coming at lunch they usually send out cooks that are practicing. So it's a hit or miss.
We had a reservation 5:15PM, had to wait a little that was fine, but we were uncomfortable because they put to many seats at this grill. The other guests and my family were neglected for the 1st, 30 minutes at the table requiring us to leave our seats, go to the bar for drinks and water. They ran out of soup very early, the dining time was excessive and long due to the poor start. I was very disappointed that the manager did not apologize to the whole table and address this in some positive manner.
I made a reservation @ 9pm and did not get seated til 9:20 .... did not have a chef until 10:30 ... all in all did not leave the restaurant until 12am, took WAY too long for dinning experience. There was a lot of down time and we were very hungry. My husband wanted to walk out about 3 times.
We've been to Benihana's many times but I think last night's visit will be our lady for some time. We froze while trying to eat our meals even after going to get our jackets out of the car and asking someone twice to lower the air. The 3 of us also came home with stomach issues within an hour of eating
