Benihana - Alpharetta Ratings and Reviews
The reservation was for 6pm on Tuesday Feb 12th. We arrived 15 minutes late and we were sat at 6:30pm. My party of 3 did not get asked for drinks for 15 minutes. The chef showed up at 7:15 and we wrapped up dinner at 8:15. It took two hours to get dinner completed. The service was slow and dirty dishes were not picked up as regularly as is normal. It was a worse service I have ever experienced at Benihana.
My only complaint is that my reservation was for 8:30 i got seated at 8 :50. So iam thinking what was the point of a reservation. And the our waiter came he was fairly nice but slow and seemed to be trying to do alot of other things, he keep forgetting to refill our drinks and bring back water. When the chef finally came things were ok. But i felt like the waiting period was a bit long.
I made a reservation for 7pm on February 10th 2018. When I got there at 650pm, I was told I had to wait to be seated. Approximately 720pm I was seated. The male manager did not once say sorry or give an explanation on why we were seated so late, when I had reservations made. When we got to the table it took another 20 minutes for our drink orders to be taken. Our female waitress was not up to high quality service standard and myself as well as the other people at the table had to constantly stop other workers just to get some service. A female manager came by and I informed her of the service being displayed and how dissatisfied I was about everything that transpired. She did apologize on behalf of the staff and tried to accomadate us as much as possible before she clocked out for work. However, the strawberry lemonade we order had yellowish, waxy particles floating all around the top of the glass. We informed the waitress and they took the drink away. When we finally got our food it was well over an hour and a half!! When We left the restaurant it was almost 10pm!! The quality and standard of this restaurant service needs to meet the price and quality of the food that we pay for. If I wanted subpar service, I would have went to a drive thru fast food restaurant. This restaurant is not cheap for the kind of service that was rendered.
Overall, we enjoyed our visit to Biennahana. The service was good, the table cook was newly trained, and his skills needed practice. But his demeanor made up for those shortcomings, and he prepared the food well. Wish there was a way to cook the rice, meat, etc simultaneously at the cooktop, to bring the meal together closer to same time. But we enjoyed the show, the food tasted good, the options were varied and generous. Fun place for a special family or group dinner.
I brought my boss there for lunch on her birthday. We were slow to get started. We spent longer there than i wanted. The food was amazing, the staff were great but i dont like the blended seating at all. We sat with another party at the same table and they were obnoxious and embarrassing.
To be upfront, I did not say anything about the quality of the food or the service while I was at the restaurant. It is a very uncomfortable situation to be sitting at a table with other people that you don’t know and to voice a complaint. However, as far as the service goes, there was a waitress and a trainee and even with two people working each table my husband and I still sat for more than 30 minutes with no drink. As far as the food, the chef seemed distracted and cook the food out of order. My file was not cooked as I asked. We were offered Yum Yum sauce at the beginning, But it never materialized. All in all, not what I expect from Benihana. This was my husband’s first time there and I am embarrassed to have given him such a horrible experience.
Very disappointed with the service. My wife and I constantly had to ask for drink refills, and usually did not get ice with the refill. We ordered sushi and had to ask for the soy sauce trays. Then we only got one. We sat at our table for an hour before the chef finally came out. The chef was wonderful, though quiet and hard to hear. The food was good as usual, but not good enough to offset the horrible service. Ultimately the cost of eating there was not worth it, we will find a new hibachi place.
This mismanaged decaying Benihana should be avoided! The wait time, with a reservation, was 1 1/2 hours- we were seated/ another couple also celebrating a birthday w/ a hostile waitress and no food. Drink refills- r u kidding? Another beer - nope, apps? My uh. We should have left but my husband (it was his birthday ) reasoned we would have to start the wait over anywhere else we went, it was Saturday night in this EMPTY Benihana.
When our hibachi chef finally arrived the food was good & she, while inexperienced, was entertaining . She was the highlight of the evening, none of this was her fault.
Not quite the evening we imagined.
The restaurant is in need of cleaning & a face lift. The restrooms were disgusting. Walking in I knew we should have walked back out but ugh manners.
This place is overrated. We had a party of 7 reserved 6 only showed up & we were told by the hostess if we wanted the table to ourselves it would cost a extra $200, the staff is rude, the food was nasty no taste at all, I just feel like for the amount of money we spent it didn’t add up to the service nor food we received.
Made reservations through open table for me and my daughter to celebrate her birthday and the host advised that she showed no reservations made. Therefore, we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Once seated, the entire table had to wait for 20minutes before a Cook came out. The cook was not animated and did not have any upbeat energy. He barely talked. I ask them to sing happy bday to my daughter at the beginning of service and they forgot. I had to remind them. Did not enjoy my experience at all at this restaurant nor do I plan to go back. Highly disappointed
We came here for my birthday. Made a reservation at 7:30. At 9, Our chef still had not started cooking. We expressed our concerns to the Manager and all she had to say was we’re busy, I’ll discount your bill. I was late for my own birthday party and by the time the chef came out, he was complaining about how busy they were and how long he had been at work without a break. Very bad experience. We won’t be back.
Very poor inattentive service. Chef took forever to come to our table. Server disappeared for long periods of time. Manager never apologized. Miso soup was very watery. Rest of food excellent. Meal took almost 3 hours. I know they can do better as I have dined here before.
Awful Experience. Just awful. Had a 6pm reservation on a Sunday for my daughter’s birthday (her request which was also noted in reservation). Got seated at 6:30 made to wait behind others and did not EAT until 8pm!!! AND they forgot her birthday! Everything about the experience was ridiculous. Never ever again. Go to Kani House or Ichiban instead!!!
Once again, had a wonderful time and meal here. Also, once again, we had Steve who in my opinion is the most awesome chef. Everytime we get him as our chef, he remembers us especially my son which makes him feel special. And he loves Steve's antics while he cooks
First let me say this, me and my family dine here once a week (for 2 yrs..) we drive 45 min just to eat at this particular location. They use to be very professional but every since they changed management which seems to be every other month smh it’s value of service has dropped tremendously! Always short of cooks and waitresses and bartenders but we still go because we love the hibachi food... So today we’re celebrating my hubby bday we have a party of6 and has been seated already for about 8 min server got our drink orders and over comes the hostess asking to seat two others. But was rude and obnoxious for no reason. Asks for a manager who then comes over to say in a loud tone “WE NEED TO SEAT TWO PEOPLE AT THIS TABLE!” It wasn’t that serious. We left and will not be returning. I now see why they have a poor rating. Guess “something” was bound to happen eventually. We too cool for the extra.
Went in to celebrate son's birthday. First they forgot about the birthday so I had to remind them last minute before we got up to leave. Most importantly, I was sick all night and the next day. I had a very upset stomach and felt unwell all night which is unusual for me. This feeling came on soon after I stepped out of the restaurant. Food was not up to par in taste either and the green tea tasted like hot green colored water. Overall a bad experience and I certainly will not come back and will go to our usual favorite Japanese restaurant next time instead, no matter how much further out it is for our party.
FYI they were not busy.....only had about 3 other parties.
My family and I have been coming to this Benihana for at least 3 or 4 years now during our vacation. Every year when you come through the door, NO ONE is there to greet you or to check you in. Others who are waiting to get checked in have to go and search for them. When the person in front of us finally found the person to check us in, they went back to where they were and continued their conversation. The servers are great, when you finally are served. We are contemplating returning because of this.
Rigoberto was our cook and he was the best. The meat was cooked to perfection and very tasty. The shrimps, lobster, vegetables and rice were excellent. We would request him, next time we go. We have gone too many Benihana’s all over the USA and this has been the best experience we ever had.
