Benevento's Ratings and Reviews
This is a great place to eat that is very fairly priced. The food was fantastic, I do think the drink I ordered could use some work as it was Blue Moon mixed with orange juice and vodka and was distributed in a large pint glass rather than something that looks like a cocktail. Also, the staff brought out a dirty paint can to the table as our stand for the pizza we ordered, which I think is a major turnoff to customers who would rather see a standard pizza stand that's clean.
The above 2 things I mentioned aside, I still highly recommend eating here.
Carbonara is one of my favorite Italian dishes. I have had it at countless restaurants. We tried this place on our first visit to Boston and have been back every time we visit. This is by far the best carbonara I have ever had - Even better than my Mom's (though she was Irish - not Italian). The servers are great and it is nice that they have an open kitchen so you can see what is going on - though it is more fun to look outside at the people walking along the street.
We were visiting as my daughter has doctors she sees in Boston. I made a reservation on Valentines Day and in the reservation explained why we were visiting and asked if they could provide a rose for my daughter as a Valentine's Day surprise. They provided that and chocolate covered strawberries. Very Nice!!
Our normal group of seven meeting at a great North End location. Our friend Amanda II (yes, at one time there were three Amanda's) wasn't available so we met Jenn. Her service trying to take care of a group of vocal friends was wonderful, she integrated herself and hopefully had some fun. We started with some wine, bottle of red, bottle of white (nice list, some good casual Italians and a few others mixed in), both were good enough to need to be refilled which Jenn took in stride. As we've been before the meals were like listening to a movie. I'd like the pesto, but can I have......, oh, can I add....... Everyone's meal were wonderful (we often share as it's so hard to decide what to have). If you have a favorite Italian meal, they probably have it (or will make it); don’t forget to turn the menu over, it’s two sided. One to highlight is their pizza, yes it's the North End so pizza is good, but here you watch it be made with all fresh ingredients, then served quickly, very hot to you. We often have it as a starter, this time it was a meal. Another wonderful time Benevento's, thank you. See you soon.
Busy place like all restaurants in the North End on a Saturday night. Arrived early and was seated early after a short wait. Fig salad was fresh. Wife had salmon special which was well done (she likes fish that way) and still tender. Flavorful but not oily. My chicken Parmesan was excellent and the fettuccine side with bolognese was perfect and noodles not overcooked. Had a montalpucciano de abruzzo that paired well with both We were seated just past the back steps which was a quieter spot and more cozy than in the main dining area. Service was friendly and timely.
This is our new favorite in the North End! Every time we are in the city, we make sure to stop by for dinner. Food is always excellent, service is quick and friendly, location is great (near parking, great pastry shops), value is amazing for the quality of food we get. Definitely worth stopping in when you are in the area!
Very good food and a pleasant waitress once we were finally seated , but don't go there on a weekend night if you have somewhere to be afterwards. I made a reservation for two at 7:30, and we weren't seated until about 8:30. There were numerous parties waiting at the bar and outside dealing with a similar issue. Clearly they were either underprepared or overbooked, and in either case it came across as unorganized and unprofessional. On a different note, cocktail options are somewhat limited due to an oddity with their liquor license -- they only have flavored liquors, so most of their cocktails sounded quite sweet.
If you don't have plans after dinner, though, I'd recommend it -- it's a cozy, energetic place, with a nice staff and good food.
Absolutely love your restaurant! Great Italian comfort food. Only complaint is when we got there I asked the hostess to not seat us by the front door as it was freezing out and when the door was opened it let in a huge gust of cold air. I asked the hostess if we could go to the back but she said there weren't any tables for 2. I didn't want to be a pain so I just sat where she put us (2 tables away from front door). After we sat down, I noticed that there were a few tables to the left of the bar that were completely open and were not even offered to us. I should have said something to the hostess since it wasn't busy, but didn't want to be a nag. I noticed a restaurant down the way had these curtains between the street and the restaurant door entrance. Maybe look into purchasing those so future customers won't get chilly :)
As always, this being our third time visiting, Benevento’s was amazing! I tried the mussels appetizer and never having eaten mussels before was more than impressed! We were seated quickly, staff was attentive and the price was well within reasonable. The dinner portion as usual was delicious!
We made a reservation two days prior for a group of 6. When we arrived at our reservation time, we were told to wait at least a half hour. After a half hour (past our reservation time) we saw that our table was given away to people who knew the workers. We were then told that we must wait at least another half hour (1 hour past our reservation). We were told that they could seat 4 out of 6 of our party but the other two would have to wait until tables opened next to the table which would likely be another half hour. We left very upset and disappointed. They didn’t seem to care that we had made reservations or that they lost us as customers. We went to a great place across the street who took us right in and explained that customers are often treated that way at Beneventos and walk across the street to dine with them. I’ve been to Beneventos at least 10 other times and it was my favorite place in the North End. However, I will not return because they treated us horribly.
We were seated in the basement section, next to the restroom. We ordered a variety of dishes, from pasta fagioli to fettuccine vongole. Everything was bland. I was disappointed after reading great reviews on this place. My advice is to try somewhere else in the North End.
Our waitress was amazing! Front of the house wasn’t great. We got seated at 6:45 for 6:00 reservations and a table of four with 6:30 reservations got seated before us. Their rational was that they arrived first, but we were on time for 6:00 and had earlier reservations.
