Service was great, waitress recommendations were fantastic.
First things the food was absolutely delicious- we had a pizza and the grilled fig salad- both were delicious! We had a 8:30 reservation and there seemed to be a lot of chaos around seating and several parties from the line waiting out side were seated ahead of us. Two couples who came in after us took bar seats before I spoke up to ask if we could just sit at the bar. Reservations should either. It be accepted at busy times or honored.
We usually have a wonderful dining experience here. On this night, even though we had a reservation we had to wait for 39-40 min, got seated in a crowded , busy area, first order of food was not what we ordered and when the correct meal arrived , it was over cooked and not good. They only charged us for 1 meal but still very disappointing .
We had a reservation for 7:00. When we showed up, the man at the door was incredibly rude, and told us he'd sit us in 25 to 30 minutes. When we pointed out that we had a reservation, he said yes, if we didn't we would have to wait an hour. We had something planned for after dinner and had to run around to find another restaurant. This is not how you conduct business. Horrible place.
This place has always been our go to place when we visit Boston. We have visited many times and have always enjoyed our overall experience. We were somewhat disappointed by the noise and language that we were exposed to. We were seated in the basement between 2 bachellorette parties. Holy loud! Clearly the girls didn't notice they didn't have a place to themselves. We were relieved when they left, however immediately after their table was cleared another group of at least 15 girls were seated. Celebrating a 21st bday. We did not complain, after all they were celebrating :) My only suggestion in the future would be to keep the large parties downstairs and seat the smaller parties upstairs. That way we can all find the experience we are looking for.
WE ate here on a busy Saturday night(a group of 6) We were seated right around our reservation time. Since we arrived about an hour early, we waited at the bar for a drink and awesome bruschetta!! The bartender was great! She was multitasking between about four or five tasks but was very attentive to us. Everything we ordered was delicious. We all enjoyed our meals. For appetizers we had Shrimp Grand Marnier(my favorite) and lobster ravioli(my daughters favorite). They were fabulous!! Our meals were delivered timely and hot. We had Shrimp and Scallops a la Beneventos, Pasta Beneventos, Gnocchis, Chicken Parm and Veal Saltimbocca. All were delicious. The owner was very personable and checked in on us a few times. We will definitely be back and highly recommend that anyone give it a try for authentic Northend cuisine.
I was recommended here, and so happy with my choice. They sat 9 of us at 5pm , as scheduled, which was very important, we had tickets to a concert at TD Garden for 7pm. They were so friendly and polite. Samantha was fantastic and very attentive. We enjoyed everything about this place. We will be back soon. Loved it.
I had to evacuate Florida for Hurricane Irma and decided Boston was a great place to escape to. Benevento's was a really fun delicious way to spend my first day. I'll remember it always!
Our hostess, I think her name was Marissa, was fantastic! I hope she serves us again
Was back in home in our favorite city and had to get to the North End for a special dinner with great friends and Benevento's was the perfect dinner spot. Awesome authentic Italian food, was served fresh and hot, amazing flavor, very good wine and a great staff that made us all feel welcome and special. We will recommend and definitely make this a consistent stop every time we are in Boston and the North End! Memorable in every way, atmosphere, location and especially the outstanding food.
I needed to find a resaonably priced place in the North End with a good variety of Italian food on the menu that also took reservations. The occasion was a college reunion of friends dropping off their children to college. Benevento's had extra tables in the basement which resulted in our party of 10 having our own private dining area. The service was great-our waitress was patient with us as we hesitated ordering appetizers and drinks until we figured out the status of 2 members of our party. After we did order, our drinks and food came quickly. We ordered 3 different salads , Caesar, Caprese and House, all of which were good (esp the Caprese). We then shared 3 pizzas between 8 and 2 shared the fried calmari and a pasta dish. We had a chicken cutlet pizza; vegetarian (onions, mushrooms and more) and a sausage pizza all 3 were flavorful and fresh. Portions were ample. The upstairs ambiance looked nice. I would recommend Benevento's for a casual, delicious Italian meal.
Pizza and Eggplant Rollatini fantastic as always. Service just so-so as usual. Waitress was good, food just takes a while.
Made a reservation online but we ended up waiting for a while to be seated (approximately 30 mins). It was during Saint Anthony's Feast so it was quite a busy area so I can understand. The food was OUTSTANDING! Price was reasonable. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
Excellent food and service, the house chicken with the homemade pasta was amazing. the Scallops that my wife selected melted in your mouth. Overall a great place to eat when there are so many places in the general vicinity, highly recommended
I had a reservation at 7 arrived at 645 everyone expect my husband and I was seat even people without reservation I was offered a round bar stool facing the entry way at 730 I'm 66 short 4 feet 8 heavy Women there is no way I'm balancing myself on a stool the next thing I was offered at 740 was 2 bar seat not together really! Not my idea of dinner out with my husband I was finally seated at 750 at a table . 2 stooges in charge of seating
The food was very good, and the basement seating is very quiet which allowed for talking at a normal volume. Very nice atmosphere.
We have been many times, never disappointed!! Fabulous food!
Delicious home made pastas. We had fusilli, penne, and chicken cacciatorre. The appetizers of caprese salad (wow, those tomatoes were perfect) and spinach crepes (amazing and delicious) were the perfect start. The portions of pasta were really large, and we went home with lots of leftovers. If we ordered again, we'd probably split the pasta entrees.
Great food.Place very noisy,we had table jast across from the kitchen which just added to the noise level
We were vacationing in Boston and chose Benevento's based on previous reviews. It was a great choice! We had made a reservation earlier in the afternoon and we're seated upon arrival. While it is quite loud we were seated by a large open window and had no problem carrying on a conversation. Our server was pleasant and service was greally with sufficient time to finish soup and salads before entrees arrived. We ordered the Chicken Benevento and Fruit ti de Marre. Both dishes were perfectly prepared and the portions were very generous. Prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend this restaurant for a great Italian meal in a casual, vibrant atmosphere.
Always a great time!
We ate here because of the rating on Open Table. We were able to easily get a reservation for when we wanted it. It is a small tight restaurant. Can be noisy because of it's size and the proximity of the tables. We sat up front and got to people watch out the window which was lots of fun and quieter. The food was good and the service was attentive. Very reasonably priced.
The food was great and so was the service once you were seated. However the hostess is rude and unwelcoming and should work on her tone of greeting people. I was tempted to leave based on the way I was greeted upon arrival. A suggestion would be for her to smile when people arrive and respectfully enquire as to whether they had a reservation or not.
Loved the food (have been here multiple times), and because I know how depressing the downstairs or even back of house ground floor is, I specifically called and asked to be in the front (far in advance, as friends were traveling from Chicago and I wanted to make sure they had a pleasant experience). They sat us downstairs right next to the bathrooms and kitchen area- ZERO ambiance. I was really disappointed and could tell my friends were too.
I see the point in having those extra tables- they probably need them to stay afloat, make extra $, but to think the downstairs tables are acceptable is a little mystifying due to the fact there are dozens of other comparable restaurants in the area with far better ambiance.
Will not be returning sadly.
Wow. What a find! Snug and casual, with excellent casual Italian comfort food. By Childs chicken fingers with spaghetti were all homemade. I loved my gnocchi and my other daughters had lovely pizza. Marissa the waitress was so kind and informative. I'd go again in a heartbeat.
The food was delicious and the portion sizes were very good so were the prices
Friday night was crowded and noisy, but the service was quick, the dinners good value in price and the clams in white sauce the best I've had lately.
We had dinner here recently and loved our experience! The eggplant rollatini was perfect, pasta primavera was filled with fresh veggies and just the right amount of cream sauce and the Blanco pizza was delicious! Service was great and fast and atmosphere was nice for a quick dinner in the city. Highly recommend!!
Cole was our waiter he was excellent. Quick and very attentive. Food is always delicious!
Favorite go-to spot in the North End. Authentic, cozy, vibrant, and huge portions.
Excellent Service and the food was very good. Ask for the house made pasta, its worth the $3
We have young kids so they stuck us in the basement, which is kind of dingy. Which contrasted significantly from the much nicer upstairs part of the restaurant. I understand wanting to put the kids in the more beat up part of the restaurant, I just wish the ambience and the table and chairs were a little nicer. Food was really good though.
We took our family to Boston for a weekend getaway and found Benevento's online. We made reservations ahead of time, which was good since the restaurant and North End itself was really busy on a Saturday night. We had a very nice waitress who made us feel at home and all four of us really enjoyed our meals. The seafood was fresh, the pasta delicious and their pizza was one of the best we've ever had. We highly recommend it and would definitely go back!
The spinach crepes and pumpkin ravioli as starters were absolutely delicious. The main course was homemade pasta with Bolognese sauce which was also excellent. To top it off the prices were extremely reasonable. I will definitely go back.
The food was fantastic. Fresh, authentic and piping hot. We were sat in the back of the restaraunt close to the bus sink. When we asked to move the hostess just kinda stared at us and then walked away. There was an open table up front and open tables upstairs. Our waitress was curt (and that's being kind) and brought my wine after my dinner had been served. It was ordered with other drinks and before appetizers. The waitress didn't seem like she wanted to be at work. Although the food was good, I'm not sure we'd go back.
Cannot speak to quality of food or experience, but they need to revise their hours on both Yelp and Open Table. States on both sites they are open until 11PM, hence our Open Table Reservation for 10PM. In their defense, it was a Thursday night and the place was empty save for one couple, but we were turned away and told to go somewhere else since they were closing early and would not accommodate us.0
Dinner was out of this world! Many classic dishes to choose from, and generous portions. The Chicken Parm was awesome! The sauce really makes the pasta. Marisa gave us speedy, friendly service. Make reservations in advance for dinner!
Personally I didn't love that we were seated by the restroom.
I was also surprised that there was a $8 fee to split a meal.
Mediocre at best. Very disappointed. Wish it was better.
