Food was great, especially the Bruschetta! Everything tasted freshly prepared when we visited for dinner.
Note that the restaurant has some of its seating downstairs, so if anybody in your party has diffuculty with stairs make sure to let them kmow when you book your reservation!
Wanted a place in the North End that was reasonably priced and where I could make a reservation for a Fri night. When we arrived our entire party was not there yet, but we sat at the bar for a drink and the hostess was great in working with us to be sure we would have a table. I would recommend a pizza - very good - and my daughter said the chicken saltimbocca was great. Not much on atmosphere, but good food at decent prices if you just want a decent meal in the North End and it's not a special occasion.
Food and atmosphere was excellent. Had the chicken parmigiana and pumpkin ravioli, both were excellent. The pumpkin ravioli is sweet with a touch of saltiness that makes it pop. I had the chicken (which was tender and cooked through) parmigiana on a bed of al dente penne pasta.
The gluten free carbonara is amazing!
I started my meal with the Barrata salad. It was served on a bed of arugula with roasted red peppers and a balsamic glaze dressing. The cheese had just the right consistency of soft and fishy on the inside while firm on the outside. For dinner, I had the Shrimp and Scallop Benevento. Oh my goodness!!! I wish I could make scallops half as delicious as this was prepared. The flavor was fantastic.
My server was gracious. She allowed me to take my time deciding on my menu choices. When my dinner was served, she came right over asking if I wanted fresh shaved parmigiana cheese. Then maybe a couple bites into my meal, she popped over to see if I was happy with my meal.
Overall, it was a great experience. Next time I am in town I will visit again. I think the restaurant can handle small and large groups. If you are in a large group it might be difficult to communicate so make sure you are sitting next to someone you like.
The waitress was helpful narrowing the choices on the menu.
The food was good and the portions were large, always a good combination. The staff was attentive, the water glasses were refilled without needing to be asked, but not hovering. It was a great night out with friends.
We will definitely go back.
We had a wonderful time celebrating my daughter’s 18th birthday. Everything was perfect! Can’t wait for our next visit!
We had a great dinner with friends. Benevento’s fusilli is the best! Me personally, I had the shrimp fra-diavolo and it was delicious. Our server Diane, was so friendly and proved excellent service
As are most North End restaurants the seating was tight but other than that just a great place. Food was excellent.
Amazing food and amazing wine, highly recommend if you're on the north end!
Food was wonderful!! Our server jennifer was very good! Will definitely go back!! This place is a find!!
Made reservations last week, good thing because there was a long wait. Food was amazing... the chicken Marsala had a great sauce so did the eggplant.
The restaurant gave out a shot of limoncello!
Great service!! Food was delicious. Especially loved the lobster ravioli! Yum!!
Excellent whole made Italian food and wood oven pizzas! Kid-friendly environment (went with 4 kids ranging from 9 months to 8 years old) and knowledgeable wait staff!
Food is awesome and reasonably priced.
Great food, great service. Unfortunately, we were a group of 6 and were seated right across from the kitchen. To say the constant clattering of plates was un-nerving would be an understatement...and it was constant. We couldn't have a conversation because of the noise. Next time, we'll request a table in the back or downstairs! Way too loud.
Our food was very good, the tables are close together which was fine because we struck up a conversation with a nice family next to us. The eggplant parm was very good as was the homemade pasta. The service was not so good. Our server dumped sauce on my husband's shirt & pants, mumbled "Oh sorry." and we never saw her again. She could have at least offered him a wet towel or something to clean the hot marina sauce off his clothes. We saw both tables on either side of us getting fresh grated parmsean cheese and being checked on but not us. she dropped off the check without asking if we wanted coffee or dessert.
Best pasta I’ve ever had (fusilli in arabiata). Just wish there were more seating options not in the basement!
This is a great place to eat that is very fairly priced. The food was fantastic, I do think the drink I ordered could use some work as it was Blue Moon mixed with orange juice and vodka and was distributed in a large pint glass rather than something that looks like a cocktail. Also, the staff brought out a dirty paint can to the table as our stand for the pizza we ordered, which I think is a major turnoff to customers who would rather see a standard pizza stand that's clean.
The above 2 things I mentioned aside, I still highly recommend eating here.
Carbonara is one of my favorite Italian dishes. I have had it at countless restaurants. We tried this place on our first visit to Boston and have been back every time we visit. This is by far the best carbonara I have ever had - Even better than my Mom's (though she was Irish - not Italian). The servers are great and it is nice that they have an open kitchen so you can see what is going on - though it is more fun to look outside at the people walking along the street.
We were visiting as my daughter has doctors she sees in Boston. I made a reservation on Valentines Day and in the reservation explained why we were visiting and asked if they could provide a rose for my daughter as a Valentine's Day surprise. They provided that and chocolate covered strawberries. Very Nice!!
Food is always great! Prompt friendly service. One of our favorite places in the North End.
Nice meal before heading to the TD Garden.
Always an awesome meal! We visit it every time we are in Boston.
It was just a quick stop for lunch but the food and service was perfect as always.
Our normal group of seven meeting at a great North End location. Our friend Amanda II (yes, at one time there were three Amanda's) wasn't available so we met Jenn. Her service trying to take care of a group of vocal friends was wonderful, she integrated herself and hopefully had some fun. We started with some wine, bottle of red, bottle of white (nice list, some good casual Italians and a few others mixed in), both were good enough to need to be refilled which Jenn took in stride. As we've been before the meals were like listening to a movie. I'd like the pesto, but can I have......, oh, can I add....... Everyone's meal were wonderful (we often share as it's so hard to decide what to have). If you have a favorite Italian meal, they probably have it (or will make it); don’t forget to turn the menu over, it’s two sided. One to highlight is their pizza, yes it's the North End so pizza is good, but here you watch it be made with all fresh ingredients, then served quickly, very hot to you. We often have it as a starter, this time it was a meal. Another wonderful time Benevento's, thank you. See you soon.
On a trip to Boston a friend selected this restaurant. It was over the top fantastic with creative cuisine - veal boudin; sliced duck breast, salad. Presentation was excellent and the noise level moderate.
Busy place like all restaurants in the North End on a Saturday night. Arrived early and was seated early after a short wait. Fig salad was fresh. Wife had salmon special which was well done (she likes fish that way) and still tender. Flavorful but not oily. My chicken Parmesan was excellent and the fettuccine side with bolognese was perfect and noodles not overcooked. Had a montalpucciano de abruzzo that paired well with both We were seated just past the back steps which was a quieter spot and more cozy than in the main dining area. Service was friendly and timely.
This is our new favorite in the North End! Every time we are in the city, we make sure to stop by for dinner. Food is always excellent, service is quick and friendly, location is great (near parking, great pastry shops), value is amazing for the quality of food we get. Definitely worth stopping in when you are in the area!
I liked the ambience and the service was very good, but I came for the pizza and I was disappointed. The pizza was small and no where near as good as rated. I would go elsewhere if you’re a real pizza person.
Amazing time! Great food, drinks and service! Best Italian restaurant I’ve been to so far . I’ll give this restaurant 5 stars!
Came in late, they were very accomodating...pizza was best we have had!
We had party of 10–everyone enjoyed their meal. Wine list was good and fairly priced. Staff was cheerful and very attentive.
our bartender Amanda was rude. Had her as our waitress before, was also rude then.
By far the best restaurant in the north end! The food is always amazing and great prices!
Very good food and a pleasant waitress once we were finally seated , but don't go there on a weekend night if you have somewhere to be afterwards. I made a reservation for two at 7:30, and we weren't seated until about 8:30. There were numerous parties waiting at the bar and outside dealing with a similar issue. Clearly they were either underprepared or overbooked, and in either case it came across as unorganized and unprofessional. On a different note, cocktail options are somewhat limited due to an oddity with their liquor license -- they only have flavored liquors, so most of their cocktails sounded quite sweet.
If you don't have plans after dinner, though, I'd recommend it -- it's a cozy, energetic place, with a nice staff and good food.
We booked a table weeks in advance yet still had to wait 30 mins to be seated. Food was ok as was the service. An underwhelming experience.
Absolutely love your restaurant! Great Italian comfort food. Only complaint is when we got there I asked the hostess to not seat us by the front door as it was freezing out and when the door was opened it let in a huge gust of cold air. I asked the hostess if we could go to the back but she said there weren't any tables for 2. I didn't want to be a pain so I just sat where she put us (2 tables away from front door). After we sat down, I noticed that there were a few tables to the left of the bar that were completely open and were not even offered to us. I should have said something to the hostess since it wasn't busy, but didn't want to be a nag. I noticed a restaurant down the way had these curtains between the street and the restaurant door entrance. Maybe look into purchasing those so future customers won't get chilly :)
