The seafood was fabulous and prime rib prepared just right.
The best food, wine list and service in the region...hands down.
The sauces were “over” mixed with too much combination of flavoring. The menu has been significantly changed as there weren’t enough “non fish” choices such as chicken or pasta. The menu was actually somewhat complicated to figure out.
Excellent cocktails (Angels Envy rye manhattan - wonderful), good foie gras and great fish. We love that place.
Very disappointed with food (3rd try) won't be back. Husband ordered ribeye $39.00. No bone and a lot of fat, I ordered the grey sole. Fishy and only 3 small pieces $30.00. Baked potato seemed old. Didn't care for the broccoli casserole as a side. Was like mush. Sad to say because we thought it would be a good place while in the Canton area.
Excellent service, food and ambiance!
Amazing as always. Fabulous Foie Gras, great wines, and another wonderful dinner!
‘Twas my birthday- been coming to benders for a long time. We requested a booth in the bar which we got. My walleye was good- my wife’s salmon not as much. She asked for it medium-came out not. Had to ask the bartender for a drink- not sure where our lady server went for so long after giving us the menus. She didn’t have much of a sense of humor either as I asked her about guessing my age since it was my birthday-she looked at me like I was guessing hers! So, not so sure I made the right choice for my birthday dinner- probably not again!
Our server was wonderful. The food was excellent. 4 of us had 2 quiche, fried haddock, and chicken piccata. Everyone raved about their choices. The bender fries are amazing. I could easily have eaten a dozen portions. Beautiful old building. Will definitely be back. 2 of us wanted the crab cake sandwich, but they were sold out by the time we ordered. Hopefully we will get to try them another time.
Great food and atmosphere, highly recommended to lovers of seafood and steak.
A Canton classic. Best seafood around in an authentic old school ambiance
Our dinners were perfect and we enjoyed Amy.
there is a reason why they have been around for so many years.
Bender's Tavern was a great experience. The menu has a long, long list of fish offerings, both appetizers and main courses. The calamari appetizer was outstanding, as was the octopus. The wedge salad, with all of the fixings, was plentiful. Both the halibut and scallop main courses were perfectly cooked and delicious. And the peach cobbler dessert was a nice finish. Our waitress was very nice and helpful, providing great service that was very unobtrusive (even though we probably were the last diners in the restaurant that night). The tavern itself is a nice old bar with restaurant rooms attached. While Bender's Tavern is not cheap, the food and service are well worth the price.
I don’t get what all the fuss is about or the great reviews. We had a good meal. Certainly nothing extraordinary. I would not go of my way again to go back. Service was ok. Kind of what do you want, here it is, do you want desert. And that is kind of how I think they run the restaurant. They run on their reputation and there does not seem to be much enthusiasm put into anything.
The food was amazing! And our server Marie was awesome and very knowledgeable!
Was not the most attentive server. Food was good, but was overpriced for just good food. The dark and stormy drink was the worst I ever had. Did not drink and bought a different drink. Server did not notice and My ignored drink. Every table had warm bread with salads and we did not get the warm bread. When we left the couple beside us had to ask for bread. At the prices they request you should not have to ask for bread. I will be back because I like the the character of the place.
Always great and takes us back in time.
Went for my husband's birthday. Had a reservation and was seated immediately. Waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable of the specials and the menu. Foods was amazing and they even brought out a ice cream Sundae with a candle for my hubby. It was a great evening.
Everything was top shelf. From the food, the service, the drinks and the atmosphere. The location is great when paired with seeing a show at the Canton Palace Theatre
We ordered the scallops. They were perfectly cooked. The wedge salad was wonderful. Good wine selection. Friendly service from all staff! Love Benders!
First time here. Made reservations for 8:30 we were seated right away. Good selection of wine, rolls were warm delivered to the table ( no butter on table). Wife order crab cakes they were large and good, I order ribeye rare ( they were out of rare prime rib) steak was tender and seasoned well. The vegetable medley was good.
The waitress was very nice and attend to all our needs.
AJ was our server, did a great job w/o being intrusive or overbearing. She was very knowledgeable about the menu, and made great suggestions! Will return again soon as my other half loved the crab😊
We celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary with dinner at our favorite restaurant. It could not have gone better. Great scallops as a appetizer followed up with a great meal.
Wonderful food, great service always enjoy our time there.
My all time favorite restaurant from Cabo San Lucas, St Marteen to all the rest! Best food, service and ambiance. Historical building, present ownership. The Jacobs insist on each patron being pampered and satisfied. Ask for Julie is available, what a lovely person. Sean, Maria and the rest are as also knowledgeable and courteous. I listen to their opinions and never regret my decision. Extensive liquor selection and experienced tenders. Their fish is flown in fresh twice a week! I highly recommend. Ryan’s special are par excellent.
As always the fresh seafood options were many. Our Chilean sea bass and crab stuffed flounder were magnificent. Also the steamed broccoli with a bacon, onion and balsamic sauce was exceptional.
A piece of Canton history with excellent food & service!!
Great experience all around. Food was fantastic and the service was great. Beautiful building.
Always a great experience. The seafood is to die for!
Our server, Penny, was personable, kind, efficient and truly a delight! The malabar shrimp was good, however, the amount of paprika masked the anticipated flavor of the shrimp. Perhaps a less seasoning next time!
The peach cobbler dessert left me and my guest anxious for future dining visits at Bender’s! Compliments to the chef!
Love the old school charm. Great service, great people. What a treasure.
The fish is great. Flown in 3x a week. They are know for it. It’s pricey though. It’s a charming old vintage decor.. I thought it was noisy. Very tall ceilings. Portions weren’t real big. Our server let us sit for 1/2hour without taking our order because a “food tour” came in and apparently they have precedence over those who were there first. Not cool.
Outstanding food and service.
The BEST in Stark County!
It was our first time to dine here ,the food was delicious ,excellent service .
Outstanding food and great service. Had their filet and it was perfectly done to my liking. Ambience was great, almost like it was when my dad and I delivered farm fresh eggs to Bender’s 63 years ago!!
Great food and service. There's a reason that Benders has been in business for more than 100 years. Benders also has an extensive wine list with a much lower mark-up than any comparable restaurant that I have seen. We'll definitely return the next time that we're in Canton.
Crab cakes very big and tasty
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an agreeable meal with family and friends
