Bender's Tavern Ratings and Reviews
Benders tavern is great! First time there but it was romantic perfect for valentines day dinner. Delicous samon special and creme bru le was amazing . A bit pricy but well worth it.
It was quiet and very beautiful inside. Kind of reminds me of cheers. :)
Bender's Tavern is one of Canton's oldest family owned restaurants
for fine dining. The atmosphere compliments the exquisite entrees and their
wine cellar is unbelievable for those that are vino enthusiasts. Bender's is
a great place to gather for a romantic date, catch up with friends or business
My first time here,I love historic buildings unique menus my server Steven was very kind answered questions...funny...decent value for the money is go back definately...we dressed up though u don't need to....the hot bacon dressing was awful but the duck was amazing ...😊 as was scallops
We celebrated my mother's 94th birthday. Food was delicious, especially the turtle soup, Camp Kagel pickerel, and bay scallops. Every one commented on the pickerel. Our server was very attentive, although a bit overeager to remove plates! Fun complimentary birthday sundaes with candles!
Today was my husband’s birthday and he really enjoys Benders Scrod Foley so I surprised him by making a lunch reservation. Although we like this locally owned restaurant today was not our best visit and it was disappointing since it was a birthday celebration. Everything about the service was just a little bit off for such a fine dining restaurant. His soup was not warm when delivered so he asked to have it heated. The waitress did get it heated and it was much better. Meantime he asked for cloth napkins since they are so much more absorbent and they were putting them out for the dinner crowd anyways as they were resetting empty tables. She brought one and then asked, “ Did you just need one or did you want two?” Next came the fact that as he just started the newly heated soup, she brought our dinners . That meant his had to sit to the side and I either had to eat mine while it was warm or wait and eat with him. Not a good choice when we were celebrating his birthday. All in all although the food quality was fine, the dining experience was not the quality we have come to expect at Benders.
My 1st time dining there. Very good food… Neat, cool old building.. Our server was outstanding. Had sticker shock when appetizer arrived——-got 9 tiny, nickel-size scallops for $19. Very good & very expensive. Escargot were gritty w/sand.. Halibut was delicious. I’d definitely go back when in the area..
If I could rate service greater I would! Our server, Chase, was over -the- top wonderful! He was charming, personable and extremely informative. What an asset to your staff!?
If there was a down-side to the evening it was that I left my leftovers on the table when we left!
Looking forward to returning to Benders.
Recommend by a friend to try this out. The atmosphere was great and we loved the historic elements. The service was great. We were seated quickly and our waitress was attentive. The food was very disappointing for the price though. I had the filet and my husband had the prime rib. Both fell short of the mark for us. We were disappointed, we really wanted to like it! If the food were better it would be a 5 star experience.
This is definitely our go to place. It is about a 30 minute drive for us but we are never disappointed. The wife and I went for lunch. The salmon was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The Bender Burger is what I believe to be one of the best (3 meat blend) burgers in north east Ohio. It is just a plain lettuce, tomato, onion, toasted bun burger, but the combination of meats in the pattie are one of the best I have had. You can add anything else for topping that you want. We always highly recommend Bender’s.
We celebrated all our college kids home and went to Bender's at their request. Our fish, appetizers, turtle soup with Sherry, Hoover steak, and famous mini sundaes were delicious. This is such a special restaurant for special occasions, business, and a must for anyone you wish to take to dinner from out of town. Excellent!
Very good service and very good food. The halibut was terrific and the ribeye was very good. Had the mussels in wine sauce app which was really great as well. Only loser was the famous potato dish which gets cold very quickly. However, overall the meal and service were very worthwhile.
The service was first rate and we had a party of 11 for dinner. While the crab cakes were some of the best any of us have ever had, they lost a lot of Value and Food points because their very expensive “prime” ribeye was not nearly as tender and flavorful as a prime priced steak should be.
Food was great as usual. Lots of people and rather loud, perhaps to be expected in the holiday season.
Unfortunately entree arrived shortly after the salad course. Timing was poor. We blame that on the server failing to put order in at the correct time
Never the less, we will return. Nothing comes close for fresh seafood here in the Midwest.
