We had a great time celebrating my dad's birthday. The waitress was very nice.
A great atmosphere of old world decor and a menu of extraordinary tastes. Not your typical restaurant fare. Great selection of wines, beers and hand crafted cocktails. A destination location when in Canton Ohio!
One of our favorite places to dine. The fish is always fresh and perfectly prepared. Halibut ala Foley is one meal I often order. Delicious!
Just a fantastic restaurant. It’s one of my favorites in the area. Highly recommend this place.
Outstanding service and food! Best seafood in Canton, by far. Key lime pie authentic, tart and creamy. Wow!!
Had to ask for bread and refills on iced tea at first. after asking then refills were prompt.
Fish dinners where moderate to cold. My $39 sea bass was underwhelming and cold not to say I ordered it cajon and did not get it. Will not recommend.
We went for a late lunch/early dinner. We started with a mussel appetizer & glass of wine. We decided to split the halibut which is on the dinner menu & one of our favorites eventhough it was late afternoon, our waitress told us it was available. It was accompanied by braised red cabbage (outstanding) and a baked potato. We finished with bread pudding & coffee. It was a wonderful meal!
Benders did an excellent job accommodating our party of 12 for my Dad birthday. Great service and food as always. Thank you for making our night special.
Chase provided excellent service to our party of four and made the meal an enjoyable event. As always, the food and drinks were delicious. I recommend the stuffed flounder with crabmeat.
Very loud. Waitress inexpierenced. Halibut poorly prepared. Bones in the fish. Did not have cheesecake available for dessert.
One of the best steaks I have ever had. High quality food and service.
Benders tavern exceeds my expectations. The server was very helpful and the meal was delicious! I went out if my comfort zone and ordered halibut with the ritz crust and was very pleased. I could only imagine what a steak taste like there.
By far the consistently best food in Northeast Ohio. Only complaint is that it is pricy. Otherwise this is a must stop if on an expense account or special occasion. The prime rib and halibut were perfect, service excellent.
This restaurant is in downtown Canton. We finally decided to go out for dinner at Bender's after living in the area for many years. Now we wonder why it was never on our list of restaurants to try. The menu offers something for both of us. I am not a fish or seafood person, while my husband enjoys them. Meals were delicious, I especially enjoyed the morel mushroom appetizer. Server was attentive, but not overly so. Pomegranate martinis were among the best I've ever had.
We celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Bender’s. My husband got the clam bake dinner. It was fabulous! My scallops were great too. Our waitress was very nice and attentive.
On sightseeing trip to Cleveland and Canton. This historic restaurant had the best reviews in town and deserves the praise. Clearly the restaurant scene in Canton is not as advanced as in the much larger city of Cleveland but this was a very enjoyable meal at a fair price.
Our server and service was wonderful. Very patient and kind with my elderly mother who wanted to chat! Truly added to my drining experience. Mussels were worse than Meh.
As always the food was delicious. Had the black and blue burger with Bender fries. My wife the turkey bacon wrap with chips. Both were well prepared and delicious. The benders root beer was creamy and flavorful. The end of the meal was topped of with a nice little birthday wish ice cream sundae with there homemade chocolate peanut butter sauce (perfect ending). The atmosphere there is so old school and relaxing, definitely don’t make them like this place anymore. The service was on point the entire time. This is one of our favorites.
great food at good prices. Wonderful restaurant history ,with 4th generation owners. Fabulous building history as well and interesting ambiance.
The service was great and so was the food, as always. The special I had was outstanding. My husband had his favorite and was very satisfied. The noise level was higher than usual due to the Kentucky Derby, but the hats were lovely.
The food was very good. I asked for a Vodka and tonic with 2 limes on the rocks the server brought me a shot glass of Vodka. After seeing my face he was confused as well, not wanting to make a big deal out of it I settled for a glass of ice and used my water from my water glass. The waiter was annoying. I felt rushed, he was constantly asking to take dishes away and we got to the point we gladly gave them to him so he would go away. Again the food was very good but the service not so much.
Special friend in town
Best Strip Steak I have had in years!
The food and service were excellent. Downtown parking is provided but I think the prices are too high for Canton, Ohio. I will return to Benders for special occasions.
Ordered crab legs. 50 bucks for a entree. Deff not fresh crab and tasted fishy. Way over priced for the amount of food. Only 1 refill .
First time there. Food was good. Steak was slightly over cooked. Roasted beet appetizer didn’t taste like anything roasted but basic pickled. The Halibut was very good. They were out of many top items on the menu so that was challenging. Didn’t realize how old everything was on the inside. I felt like I was eating in a dusty museum. Martinis seemed quite strong. Not sure we would go back since it is quite expensive.
Wonderful and attentive service. Delicious food!
We save Bender's for special occasions. It has the authentic charm of an old time restaurant that encourages you to take your time appreciating your surroundings and great food. All of the staff was charming. I was with a party of 6. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The seafood cannot be compared in preparation, freshness, and seasonings. The ambiance encouraged my party to enjoy each other's company while eating our meals. The menu offered many unique choices of seafood, cooked uniquely. No fast food! I highly recommend Bender's for fine dining at its best.
Overall, we had a great time with dear friends. :) The wine selection was great! Our consensus regarding the food is that it is good but not up to par with other fine dining restaurants in the Akron/Canton area. Also, unfortunately our waiter did not create a fine dining experience. She was very nice and we had everything we needed, you just expect a certain level of service and professionalism at that price point.
Always a favorite place and never disappoints. Our favorite waiter Donald had passed away and put a damper on our night. However, the food was excellent halibut ala foley always the best. Turtle soup was awesome along with shrimp cocktail. For some reason the noise level in main room was higher than normal. Will always go here for diner when visiting "home"
Excellent service and the food was amazing! Will be back!
I view Benders as an upscale restaurant. Dinner for two with wine and apps recently cost us $140. Not complaining. Its great food for the money. What bothers us sometimes, is that the servers in restaurants want to be your friend, chatting way too much on subjects not related to your dinner. A real sore point is that servers take away one person's dinner when they are done while the other person is still eating. You feel so rushed! This is not how a fine dining establishment works. Good servers are watchful and respectful without striking up a conversation when visiting your table. Let people enjoy their time together. If people seem receptive to getting you know you better, that's fine. Just asking for some sensitivity. Servers are a critical part of a great dinner. Leave both plates on the table until both people are finished! Please!
Food and service were exceptional!
Several of our friends have been to Benders and have recommended it to us. We finally made a reservation because we wanted to eat something quality but we didn't want to drive very far. It was absolutely fantastic. Our waiter Jim was amazing as well. He brought all of our food out in a timely fashion. The food was great, I enjoyed the coconut curry very much. Definitely worth the price!
We enjoy eating at Benders whenever we visit Canton which is several times per year. The food is delicious and we love the historic and cozy atmosphere. The staff always does an excellent job handling our large family group.
We had great food and service from Nick
Always good, never disappointing
Benders on my list of favorites
Delicious food and great service
Really good food. A little bit high-priced but a great place for a special occasion like an anniversary, engagement, milestone birthday etc. Definitely not a place that would be in “regular rotation” for eating out.
