BEST restaurant in Little Italy! Great ambiance, fresh pasta is the best and the staff is top notch. Bencotto is great for any occasion. I highly recommend eating here whenever you’re looking for an authentic taste of Italy.
Server was nice and professional. Appetizers/share plates were alright. Main pasta dish, their recommended plate, wasn’t good.
I wouldn’t go there again but it is a change from some of the other Little Italy spots. It might work for you.
The staff was very attentive and honored my request for outdoor seating. It was a very quiet and intimate atmosphere with great food and the staff recommended appetizers were amazing. Definitely a great establishment for a price that isn’t too expensive.
This restaurant turned this trip for my friends business into a vacation! Fabulous food and friendly staff. Very accommodating. Get the trout!
One of our favorite Italian restaurants! The food is delicious, brings you back to Italy. The service is outstanding and the servers are always so accommodating. One of the best in San Diego!
The menu was excellent; however, the food was not. We had a group of six people that ordered various items. We all felt the food was extremely bland. Italian food is usually so flavorful but we were all adding salt and pepper to the food we ordered
It was our anniversary. The food was fabulous as always and the service was excellent. We can’t go to San Diego without having dinner at Bencotto.
Great food/fresh pasta. Noisy and crowded! Hard to park and used $9 valet service.
Nice, modern eatery in Little Italy. Food was excellent! My husband ordered the lamb shank and said it was the best he’s ever had, cooked to perfection. The staff was attentive and friendly. We brought our 3 year old and 7 year old along for dinner. It’s not what I would consider “kid-friendly,” but our waitress was sweet with the kids, and they did enjoy the pasta. This place is better suited for a romantic date.
They sat us late, service was very slow
Best service we've had in quite a while! Food was delicious.
We had a lovely time tonight dining at Bencotta. The quality of food, service and ambiance was excellent. It truly reminded us of our time in Italy. We will be back.
Great food and wine! Service was prompt, knowledgeable and friendly. Atmosphere is spartan at best. Could use more comfortable seating.
Our server on Saturday night, March 31st, was really great ( dark hair, handsome, very efficient, great suggestions, unfortunately I’m blanking on his name). We all enjoyed our meal, was given plenty of time to enjoy the evening of friends together. The lemoncellos were delish as well!
Fresh pasta and so delish!!! My friends had gnocchi and pasta. Both loved it. I had the ciopinno. So good!!!!! This place is amazing!!!
Pretty disappointing experience. Food was OK, but when they say "traditional North Italian" kitchen, I would add "with a big US influence". The wine was not poured at the table, they served it pre-filled. I do not care for this method as I like to see the bottle, and maybe have a taste before I decide to go for that wine or reconsider. 2 glasses of prosecco, 2 glasses of red, 2 starters and 1 main coming in at $100 plus is not good value in my opinion
My boyfriend loves the pasta! Said it was one of the best he’s had. I enjoyed mine as well. We ordered one of the desserts and it was wonderful! Bencotto è bello e delizioso. Mi piace molto!
Amazing food! Amazing service! Amazing experience!
This is one of those restaurants that allows you to order anything and be happy. Everything was amazing.
Awesome dinner, again. Food is outstanding and their selection of Italian dishes are a memorable mouth watering experience. I got the squid ink fettuccine with shrimp/scallops in pink sauce. My wife got a build your own pasta with fettuccine, mushrooms and pink sauce. We got the cantaloupe and prosciutto as an appetizer. 10 out of 10. We’ll be back.
Food, and service was very good. We made plans for an early dinner and was seated at a table in the bar area. Seems they try to fill these tables first. Be aware of parking situation. No free parking anywhere to be found. Had to pay $12 to park.
Some of the best meals I’ve ever had. The pasta is unbelievable. - Very nice ambience. - And the service is fantastic. Ask for David.
Both pasta dishes we had were delicious. You feel as though you are in someone's kitchen in Italy eating fresh made Italian fare. Our starters of salad and zuchinni soup did not disappoint as well. Wonderful spot in Little Italy!
The pasta was very good, but the calamari was tough. Service was very attentive.
The restaurant was louder than I expected, and the tables fairly wide, so it was difficult to hear people across the table. The lighting was harsh and industrial, making the ambiance less-than-ideal for a date night.
The best pasta I have ever eaten. The Caesar salad and zucchini soup were also excellent. Fine Italian wine selections.
Delicious, authentic italian food!
Fantastic as usual.
Service was impeccable and delicious food. A great italian experience.
Despite bringing kids - staff very patient and understanding.
Busy restaurant! Service was very good. Food was good.
Seats on the top floor with a great ambiance. Loved the fresh cut bread with the oil and vinegar. I got the gnocchi with the basil sundries tomato sauce. It was delicious and a huge portion. I took my leftover Home but it did not taste so good the next day.
Always superb food
Great high energy place with happy diners enjoying excellent food with an attentive and pleasant wait staff
I always take my out of town visitors there for dinner
When I’m in San Diego, Bencotto is always a destination spot for me. The food quality is outstanding, as well as wine choices & cocktails. We arrived a little early & were seated right away. I follow Bencotto on IG so I can hardly wait to sample the food from the beautiful photos they post.
Great cheese platter and red sauce ravioli!
Its a modern design style feel in the heart of little Italy. The food was delicious and prepared so neatly. It was a nice warm Sunday Brunch hour, so while everyone was out getting brunch, the restaurant had a calming demeanor to it. the service was wonderful as they made sure we were ok.
We were sat in the quietest area possible (by request) and had a wonderful experience. Had a reservation and were sat immediately upon arrival. Very attentive staff - always refilling our water glasses, brought delicious bread and olive oil/vinegar to dip and asked if we wanted more bread when we ran out. Wine and cocktails were on point. The spinach gnocchi w/summer sauce and cheese raviolli w/meat sauce were delicious. Perfect place to celebrate a birthday!!!
We came to San Diego for vacation and this is our first time in the city. Our friends recommended this restaurant to us. The food here was very good; but it did lack in a welcoming dining experience. We felt very rushed through our meal, despite also having an appetizer, salads and wine. We had barely finished our first courses before our mains came to the table. The plates from our first courses had not even been removed. Our main servers were polite and helpful when we asked questions about the food and wine; but overall, the servers seemed a bit cold, rushed and disinterested in engaging in conversation.
Food left much to the imagination. Pasta dishes including the gmocci and lazagne were bland. The service was awful. I was left waiting for 20 minutes for a cup of tea. The worst was the rainy night and being seated at the front of the door and l had to ask 3 times to have it shut because you all just left it wide open. Service was slow the noise level was defeaning. Upstairs looked cozy but we were not given an option despite there being many open tables. With as many competing ltalian restaurants l was both disappointed and put off by the detached service we received. Will stay with other older ltalian restaurants in little ltaly
From start to finish simply outstanding food!
Best bread in town❤️ Food was tasty. Would definitely go back here
As always the food was fantastic and the service friendly. My favorite Italian restaurant in Little Italy. Love bringing guests here!
