Between the '20s & '40s, the space that now occupies Benchmark was used as an icehouse and major way station for goods that that arrived on the banks of the Gowanas Canal. While excavating, several "benchmarks" (surveyor's marks) were found, along with architects' tools, some of which are displayed on the restaurant's walls. Benchmark's rich history and naturally rustic interior is enhanced by warm exposed brick, arched windows and spacious garden seating.

The open tent was heated and so comfortable. Service and food were excellent. I recommend without any hesitations, and would love to go back again soon!
The food was amazing, and I mean everything we ate. The scallops, smoked lamb shanks, lobster and dumplings. And you can’t forget about the delicious drinks. We didn’t have dessert because we were in a rush but they did give us a glass of Prosecco each for our anniversary.
Benchmark is a solid fine dining choice during the Covid pandemic. We ordered from their alpine inspired dinner menu and each main and side dish was divine. We had a 16 oz boneless ribeye that just melted in the mouth and wonderful French onion soup, but our favorite things were the side dishes of Brussles Sprouts “esquitos” and turnip & pearl onion gratin. The outdoor courtyard space allows for ample room between diners, fresh air circulation and is wonderfully heated for an all-around great experience. It almost felt normal again. We'll be back again (and again).
Kendra made our evening such a success with her great service. As always our steaks were perfectly prepared by the chef and we couldn’t have been more satisfied with our entire meal from start to finish.

Highs: French onion soup, ribeye steak, cocktails, our waiter.
Lows: The diver scallop app was fine, but paled in comparison to the rest of the food/drinks.
We went for Valentines Day and nothing was done to be romantic! There was a foul odor throughout the entire meal. We ordered the ribeye steaks and it was nearly all fat and extra salty. The creamed spinach was not creamy at all and tasteless. Do not anticipate going back. Next time I'm in park slope will be at burgers and beers. Do not throw away your hard earned money at this place.
We had chosen to go to another restaurant but turns out their seating only allows for 2 people. We immediately looked for open reservations and Benchmark had the perfect availability. We weren’t aware they opened up indoor dining so I chose outdoor but it’s perfectly covered that you don’t really feel like your outdoor. Beautifully decorated. Our waiter was extremely welcoming and friendly. We did bring our 4 year old and our 3 month old. Not sure if it’s kid friendly but they didn’t seem to mind. We went for brunch and the food was amazing. Will most likely come back again for brunch.

This place is great. They have a huge heated tent and their tables are very spaced out. I feel very comfortable eating here during this pandemic. The fact that they take reservations for all times of day (brunch included) is amazing. Their menu has changed a bit and I think for the better. I enjoy every meal I have here. Will be back!
No longer just the steakhouse this menu had lots of options for non-steak eaters. The most interesting pierogies I've ever had, filled with spinach and artichokes they were more like empanadas, with caramelized onions, sour cream and horseradish. Definitely worth eating. It was fun to have fondu, but the fruits and vegetables were not as successful for dipping because the cheese was a little bit on the thin side and the vegetables and fruit did not absorb enough of it. It was better with the bread and especially towards the bottom of the pot when it really thickened. The smoked leg of lamb on cheese polenta was another dish that was definitely worth eating. It was a nice large opening on the 10th and the tables were very well spaced so it felt really safe to eat here. I would definitely recommend.
A great place in Park Slope. They have a covered outdoor space properly heated that allows you to confortably eat by those times the restaurants are close.

Benchmark has heaters and a covered outdoor space - it was the perfect space for my friend and I to enjoy an outdoor meal in the winter. Not only that, the food was delicious and comforting, and the wait staff were extremely cheery.

I initially gave the extremely negative review below. The restaurant reached out and apologized. Given how respectful and apologetic they were, I change my rating.
I made a reservation weeks in advance and they gave our table away. With our only option being waiting another 30-20mins, but that estimated wait time was even a guarantee. The waiter who tried to “assist” us told he wasn’t sure about the wait time. Incompetent.
Why give the option for reservations, if you do not honor them? Isn’t that restaurant management 101.

Considering the year we're having, and the impact it's had - we couldn't have asked for a better dinner on a chilly night. We got engaged right afterwards, and it was the perfect dinner to have before hand. Will be back very soon

Another fantastic dinner at Benchmark! The lobster cocktail is amazing, the scallops delicious, and the wine list (especially at 50% off on Mondays) is creative. Looking forward to returning soon.
Had a late dinner with friends after a nearby concert and though the food was great, the service left little to be desired. The waitress made it a point to let us know we had about 10 minutes to get our order in before the kitchen closed and that dessert was completely out of the question. That was before we even had a chance to sit. I dont understand why the restaurant would allow such late reservations 10:45, if its employees are only going to make customers feel bad for arriving at that hour. Perhaps they would prefer if you closed at an earlier hour. Needless to say, after having suggested benchmark as the perfect place I was embarrassed and will most likely never return and I’ll be sure to remove benchmark from my list of recommendations.

The server was not conscious of the menu or any value in being an employee of this restaurant. I had to send back my Steak and it still came back with the wrong temperature. I will return to give this restaurant a second chance. Hopefully not the same service!
