My mom and I have been here a few times and have really enjoyed the food and the experience. When we visited this week, our waitress Nicole was so sweet and very attentive. Our only recommendation is that a couple of lactose free choices be included on the menu.

A true diamond in the rough! The wine flights, bread/honey butter and our entrees were spectacular!! So glad to find this jewel of a restaurant. We’ll definitely be back!

Always wanted to try this restaurant out and finally got a chance. But it was a very disappointing experience. The ambience is nice and it is like eating in a green room. Service is ok. I can barely hear our server what he said. Food is terrible but plating is nice. We ordered three main dishes. Cod, duck breast and scallop were all overcooked. They are so dry. For duck breast, we asked for medium rare and it came out well done. Really disappointed. When the server asked us how is the food. We told him about it and he just said sorry and will let the kitchen knows and that’s it. Will definitely not come back and recommend to friends.

Very nice place to eat food. I love the attention to the quality of ingredients and the staff was very knowledgable on the menu. Water service was slow. Prices are high but very worth. Would wish to attend again for just tea and dessert.

Lovely restaurants staffed mostly by students from Niagara College. A nice dining space...round and floor to ceiling windows. The wine list features some wines from the NC vineyard which I have found to be exceptional. Service was timely (not rushed at all) and the quality of the appetizers and entrees I have tried on 2 separate occasions was excellent. The menu isn't long, but there are enough options to accommodate different tastes.

Our waiter Sebastian was a delight. Food was good and fresh. But we were expecting to see the selections that were listed on the website. The menu that was presented to us was different, so we were disappointed in that. Too noisy. Also disappointed the patio was closed.

Wonderfully delicious! Truly Scrumptious! Great service from our waiter Chris who warmly greeted us by name on our arrival to recommending the Tom Thomson Algonquin Red, a unique vintage blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot paired with NC’s signature Honey Glazed Beamsville Duck Breast. Of course, desserts followed and was truly scrumptious, with lemon and lavender infused fresh picked Strawberry Shortcake and Black-and-White Crème Brulee and chased with a creamy loose leaf Earl Grey. Kudos to the student chefs for the amazing dishes, their wonderful presentation and the walk afterwards in the beautiful gardens, meeting the friendly campus pussycat, topped off a perfect summer afternoon visit to the Benchmark Restaurant at Niagara College. We look forward to our next trip. :)

Found the food boring, for a culinary institute, this should have been an exciting menu. the presentation was good and the coffee was great but the price for the appetizer and meal should reflect on the experience and did not. The service was ok for a neighborhood restaurant but not for a high-end TO restaurant in this price range. Would not make a repeat visit.

We have been coming here for pre-theater lunch or dinner and are never disappointed. The wine price is distinctly less marked up than most places, the view of the St. David's Bench and the gardens is still nice even with the rehab of the porch going on.
The food is both good and wonderfully presented, the staff works very hard to do everything just right.
This time I had the duck and it was surely the best duck dish I have ever eaten.

Shared the Tempura squash appetizer which was unfortunately a little bit undercooked and insufficient of the sauce was supplied, though extra was provided promptly on request. Scallops were very nicely cooked and delicious. Desserts: Black & White Creme Brulee and Strawberry Shortcake were both divine!! Wonderful service, personable staff.

Husbands birthday. They made adequate fuss to make him feel special - but not embarrassed! Years ago, I arranged for all the Canadian Premiers to have a large event there for the COF - they talked about it for years, we have since retired in NOTL and have sent many folks there since. Never a disappointment.

You need to add soft furnishings to absorb the sound . My group had a hard time hearing conversations so of course we had to raise our voices which added to the sound pollution so everyone else had to speak louder as well. I understand that the building was made to bring the outside in but maybe some decorative sound absorbing panels over the highest windows would be helpful.

The service was terrible - felt ignored the entire time, almost left before ordering, left before ordering dessert.
We saw other tables that arrived after us being served before us.
Repeatedly had to ask for service for water and ordering.

Too bad. The food was excellent - both taste and presentation - but we will not be recommending your restaurant to anyone.

A good sized restaurant with well-spaced tables, and no intrusive music. Menu is for fine dining, but all was beautifully prepared and served with good wine and beer. All aspects relate to the disciplines taught at Niagara College, and everything was exceptionally well done.

The menu showed pasta with several great ingredients: kale, mushroom, broccoli, peppers. The dish had pasta allright; it tasted like a can of mushroom soup was heated and thrown over it. The kale, broccoli and peppers were not as I had hoped for fresh, but mashed/overcooked/one dop.

We were the only dinners after a bus load of seniors left. My salad of mixed greens was okay but Neenu's beet salad was delicious. Fried butternut squash was delicious and more than adequate for two. The scallops were delicious. Cod was good, could have a sweet flavour like mango to liven it up a bit. The Assam loose tea was great - enough for two. The NC Brew was also worth coming back for.

Had an excellent time at benchmark overall. The duck was excellent however the vegetarian tofu meal was a little dry and bland and lacked some seasoning. The waitress was nice but a little over bearing coming by every 2 minutes to try to take our order while we were just enjoying our drinks at the start before ordering food. Still would definitely go back and would recommend.

Went to Benchmark after my daughters graduation from Brock.
This was an excellent choice and we had a perfect time. Not busy, not rushed. Picked the best place in town to go.
The patio was marvelous and the food was top notch.
The hand crafted beers and ciders were a plus!
Close to the outlet mall as an extra treat.

We celebrated our Anniversary here. It was great to come to a restaurant with Gluten Free options, since one in our party has Celiac with a gluten allergy. The restaurant service was spot on and our server knew when to come and not to come. The food was delicious. The serving size was decent. And we both left the restaurant wondering when we will be back. Great job students.

We enjoy going to Benchmark to support the students in their new profession. This was our first time there for Dinner. We have generally gone for lunch.
The soup was great and while I did order the duck breast medium tear it was perhaps a wee bit too rare for me and temperature wise was cool. The veggies etc were great and hot.
My husband send his steak back because it and his veggies were all cool. Apparently there was a bit of a problem in the kitchen as we also had to wait longer than expected for our entrees as well as the wait staff apologized several times.
We would still go back because this one not so great experience did not out weigh the good experiences we have had in the past.

The parsnip soup was very light on the parsnip flavour and it wasn't hot (looked good when presented )
I ordered mushroom pizza. The crust was stodgy, had few mushrooms and again the pizza wasn't hot. The cold dipping sauce just made it cooler. I took half of the pizza home adding sliced cherry tomatoes and cheese and heated it in my toaster oven.
We have dined there a number of times and in the past enjoyed it. We will not be back any time soon.
