I used to come here regularly and then the building shut for renovations. It was the first time I had been back. Everything food, service, reasonable wine choices was excellent. Ate with friends who were very happy with the meal. I will definitely be getting this back in my regular rotation (when the world gets a little more regular). The place was better than I remembered .

DID NOT HONOR RESTAURANT WEEK AND KEPT OUR CHANGE

My husband and I are truly shocked by our experience at the restaurant last night as we expected nothing but the best from reading the reviews and checking it out online.
We went for restaurant week and they would not honor their restaurant week menu online claiming that it was done on Friday 8/20 when in fact restaurant week was supposed to be over on Sunday the 22nd. The waiter even said that no restaurants in the area had restaurant week over the weekend which I know was not true. That alone was a red flag for us but we stayed as we were there for a special occasion, my husbands promotion.
We ordered and all was exquisite. The bigger problem and major complaint for us came at time of payment. As they did not honor restaurant week menu we had to order from the a la carte menu which was 3x more expensive. Therefore my husband spilt the check between cash and a card. Something really strange happened. My husband gave them $60 to be applied on the card and $180 cash. The bill was $213 which would’ve been a $27 change. The receipt came back saying that we paid $160 cash and $59 in card… but remember it was supposed to say $180 as we gave them 9 $20 bills. As we noticed that we call the waiter he starts by saying no worry no worry it doesn’t matter is fine etc. We’re still all confused saying to them but it was $180 cash plus $60 card, the change given back to us which was $6 was short a $20 bill. The waiter rushed to take our bill and receipt back along with the $6 not even letting my husband sign for the card transaction. It was all too suspicious. When my husband checked the card statement in front of the host, they had in fact charged even more, $68 instead of the $59 shown on the receipt they took from us as it was proof.
In summary they took $20 cash from us, the change from the cash and charged another $9 on our card. That’s an additional $35 from the $213 bill… what a scam!

Went for restaurant week. Everything was outstanding. Had a drink at the beautiful bar and enjoyed some home made potato chips , exceptional bartender Denny.

Food was exceptional. We started with Caesar salad, wedge salad and baked clams served with delicious rolls and butter.
Our party of five had lamb chops, filet mignon and chicken Parmesan with wonderful sides of whipped potatoes, spinach and broccoli. Portions were large and served piping hot. Finished with dessert of assorted cakes.
The waiter and the entire staff were true professionals and should be commended.
Will be returning to Ben and Jack’s soon.

went for restaurant week, the appetizer of baked clams was excellent and the entree of steak was huge, so soft and so tasty. entree came with a vegetable and generous serving of mashed potatoes. couldnt finish it all and had to take home, dessert for me was carrot cake and it was so good, my friend got the chocolate mousse and i tasted it and loved it so much.
i will definately return to this restaurant.

The appetizers of baked clams, fried calamari and Caesar salad were okay, not spectacular. The filet mignon and lamb chops were cooked medium rare as ordered and tasty. The chocolate mousse and carrot cake were disappointing, paper thin slices and tasting store bought. Restaurant Week offering is not an excuse to skimp. Other restaurants did not greatly reduce portion size during Restaurant Week. None of the waiters wore masks for indoor dining,the only restaurant that we dined in during the pandemic that elected not to adhere to extra safety protocol. Whether the staff has been vaccinated or not, it was uncomfortable having the waiter breathe and talk over us without a mask on. It’s a one and done as far as I’m concerned.

Restaurant week menu is an amazing value. So many choices for this 3 course dinner that includes tea or coffee. No up charge for any prime meats such as petite filet mignon, 12 oz sirloin or baby lamb chops. Service could be better.

Ordered from the Restaurant Week dinner menu and everything was delicious. The petit fillet minion was cooked per our request and the sides were very good. The servers were very attentive and the overall ambience was elegant but friendly.

I made reservations to take advantage of the Restaurant Week. We were a party of six. I requested a table either in the corner or against the wall, if possible. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant. After we sat down and given menus, that is when they started to put the silverware on the table and we had to maneuver around to allow them. Only my menu had two Restaurant Week menus. The $39 menu and the $125 Signature Menu. The rest of the table did not.

Appetizers ordered: fried calamari, baked clams, caesar salad. We also ordered from the regular menu, the bacon appetizer.

The fried calamari was all rings and no legs. Coating was not crisp. Baked clams were great but there were only four small ones on the plate. Caesar salad was average. We had to ask for the bacon because they forgot.

Most of the the tables ordered steak. One person ordered the seafood pasta. The steaks were cooked properly to each person's request. HOWEVER, the steaks did not have a char in comparison to other steakhouses we have eaten at.

For dessert, we ordered slices of cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake, and carrot cake. The size of the slices were more of a sliver and they were okay. Each slice came with an ice cream scoop size of whipped cream. On the menu it stated coffee and tea were included. We ordered coffee after the cake arrived. We asked for half and half instead of milk. They did not have. Coffee was weak.

Ladies room has two stalls, and it is a very tight space as you enter. No toilet paper. Garbage can over flowed of paper towels.

When attempting to leave, we had to squeeze between people sitting at the bar and the people sitting at their table. Their backs were about eight to ten inches from each other. They had to move into their tables to make room for us to exit. Restaurant should remove the chair at the table as you can't change the configuration of the bar.

Our party of six still had a great time but would not return to this restaurant after this experience.

We were there for Restaurant Week and had the petite filet mignon which was perfectly done. Caesar salad was very good and the cheese cake was divine. It was a very enjoyable experience. Would definitely return.

平日の夜でしたが、室内はほぼ満席。
"プチ"フィレ ミニョンはプチの響きで勝手に想像していた大きさの2倍以上あり、焼き加減も抜群ですごく美味しかったです。
デザートのケーキに付いてくるホイップクリームも最高!
ステーキの付け合わせまでもがちゃんと美味しい…
料理もとても良かったのですが、ウェイターさんのフレンドリーさが特に素晴らしかったです!

I love to try new restaurants during Restaurant Week/Month because it really gives me a good idea of their menus at a fraction of the cost. Ben and Jack's did not disappoint. The food was amazingly delicious (best sautéed mushrooms side I have had in a long time! $7 add on to the RW menu) My party tried the Ceasar Salad and the Wedge salad as appetizers, then the Filet Mignon and Norwegian salmon as our mains. My salmon was melt in your mouth delicious with a fabulous steamed broccoli and potatoes. Apparently the filet mignon was medium well instead of medium rare, but it was still great paired with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. Even though we were there to try out the RW menu we codn't resist the oysters. $20 for 6 excellent Blue Point oysters. Dessert was cheese cake and carrot cake. Both delicious. I already have a few go to Steakhouses in the city, but Ben and Jack's just joined my list!!!

Food and service were excellent. Our $80 bottle of wine wasn’t a big mark up and was excellent. Only negative was that nyc has garbage outside on streets (which was close by to our table so flies were on our food / wine, so we went inside)

This was one of the best restaurant week meals I’ve ever had! There were ample choices which were delicious, our waiter attentive and accommodating, and they even have a parking deal with the garage next door.
