Amazing - it took a while to get a reservation but we're going to set up the next Friday night we can get to go again.
Loved it and will return took 6 weeks to get reservations
The antipasti were excellent. Prosciutto and salami and interesting cheeses were delicious. The salad with pear and burrata was wonderful. All pastas were perfect and made in the style of Bergamo. Perfect!!
Food was really good. Place is VERY small. Service was efficient if not overly friendly.
I feel a bit reluctant to tell the truth as everyone at our last dinner scraped their plates clean. The food is that good and as more persons realize this point it will be even harder to get a reservation. Shucks and credit to Belotti's for the experience (I will not mention desert!).
Excellent delicious homemade pastas. Shared main course was OK/fine. Very crowded on a week night; door held open by incoming guests: blasts of cold air. Staff did nothing. Lots of movement among staff but we were unattended quite a lot. Actually bar looked like a better place to eat. With excellent glasses of wine, this was not inexpensive. Desserts very uninspiring.
It was great! But we were put off by the hostess’ attitude—she seemed like we were inconveniencing her by waiting for our table (that wasnt ready for our reservation time.) we waited over ten minutes for a table for two that had not opened up, yet there was another table for two right by us that was completely available, yet no one was seating us. Very strange. Despite that, dinner was pretty good.
Simply the best Italian restaurant in the EastBay ! If you can get a reservation take it.
Delicious pasta dishes, great wait staff. Wonderful meal. We will be back.
Best Italian good you’ll have in the Bay Area. Consistently wonderful, authentic fare.
Simply put... really great food. Simply put... really tasty food... great wine... great service.
Valentine's Day is not a good occasion for rating a restaurant on its service. The small, spare restaurant was packed with diners, and the wait staff had difficulty keeping up. The food, however, was brilliant. We started with small plates of battuta and vitello tonnato and then moved on to the pasta. The casoncelli is addictive: once you've tasted it, you'll have a hard time ordering anything else on subsequent visits. Definitely fit for foodies.
As a frequent traveler to Italy, I was very happy to find Belotti. Their pastas -- particularly their stuffed pastas -- are as good as I've had in Lombardy. Their wine list is fairly deep, but also Italian, so it can be a bit daunting. Service at dinner is attentive. Less so at lunch.
The Food is Top Notch Northern Italian!!! We all tried a different dish and shared it was Awesome Italian Food. Service was very good!
Would give the restaurant five stars, but there was a family having a birthday lunch while braiding each other's hair at the table, while people (their table included) were eating. It was disgusting.
The best Italian food in the bay!!! I’m Italian so i think to know a little bit about italian food ;)
The restaurant is tiny, we booked weeks in advance. The food was absolutely delicious.
What incredible food! Obviously made with care, the old-fashioned way. Much appreciated the menu and the service. Can't wait to return!
Wow. Second time back to Belotti and what a different experience it was! Here for our 4th wedding anniversary. Waiter had lots of attitude and seemed to be trying to irritate my husband. Thanks for helping us have a romantic dinner, Davide! Nothing says happy anniversary like a snotty attitude and dismissive service. Beef tartare was good, burratta salad was very good, pastas were just ok this time. Maybe they're so busy they don't need to try anymore? Hostess was lovely, though.
Very pleasant dining and excellent food. Noise level almost precluded conversation at times, but we still enjoyed it very much.
Overall, it was an excellent meal and great service. Can’t wait to go back.
Very nice restaurant for authentic Italian food. Definitely will return
I have eaten at Belotti a few times over the past year and really enjoyed the restaurant - the food and service has always been excellent. Recently, however, I had an awful experience. I had made dinner reservations on the occasion of my partner's birthday. I was able to make a reservation for 8:30 PM, which I believe was the last reservation booking available for a Sunday evening. The moment we sat down, our server came to our table and impatiently warned us that the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes, so we would have to get our orders in quickly. She said something to the effect of "this will have to be more of a speed dating situation." We were taken aback by the abruptness and impatience our server exhibited. It was clear that there was no time or space to ask any questions about the menu or wine list, which was very frustrating. We asked for a few minutes to look over the menu. About two minutes later, our server returned and asked for our order; we asked for just another minute to decide as we had barely taken a moment to catch our breath from the previous interaction. The server said "one minute is really all you have" and walked away. While I understand a kitchen and front of house staff need time to clean and go through closing procedures, this was completely unacceptable behavior. I walked over to the bar area where another FOH staff member was standing to tell her we were very upset with how we were rushed and generally treated, and that we were leaving. The staff member told us there was no rush and that we could take as long as we wanted– this was the complete opposite of what our server had communicated. We immediately left and went down the street to A16 instead.
If the restaurant offers a reservation time to customers, they simply should not rush dinner service. Just stop taking reservations past a reasonable time for your kitchen to close instead.
It's a shame as I've really enjoyed the food at Belotti, but we won't be returning any time soon.
Food fabulous, as always. Surly male waiter not appreciated. Get the Tortino!
This was the best Italian food I have eaten in the Bay Area in many years, and the very welcoming, friendly atmosphere only added to the great taste of the food
This is a really fun restaurant and was more important the food is The closest real Italy that I’ve been a long time. It’s really noisy starts early. I had a great glass or two of tuscan red that was the real thing. Highly recommend it for the food! Imagine that
We requested a table by the window in our reservation and there it was, waiting for us.
We requested advice for wine selection, and the wine was an interesting surprise.
The cold meats appetizer is very abundant. Share! The quality is superb.
We tried the tortelli di polenta.... DIVINE...
The tiramisu is glorious.
What a joy it is to dine at Belotti. Every time a special occasion.
It was a really nice dinner. Not pretensions. Nice food.
Great appetizers and pastas.
We had so much fun. The service was excellent.
Service is impeccable: waitstaff very friendly, helpful, make good suggestions for both food and wines. We had various pasta dishes, each substantial, each tasty (tagliatelle with wild boar sugo/gnocchi). Salad (bibb lettuce with a lemony dressing) was delicious, as were the cooked greens. We enjoy the quiet colored ambience of the restaurant, the skilled waitstaff. Important to make reservations well in advance. We'll definitely have repeat visits.
Excellent reasonably priced home made pasta dishes. Small location with tables close together made for a lot of noise. Overall highly recommended.
Wonderful food, great ambience, nice waitstaff, outstanding menu.afeather in Oakland's cap!
Great all the way around
My wife's birthday and in fact, the group that sat next to us had a birthday too. The other party received a nice dessert in celebration. We received nothing.
Slow service, one needs to ask for bread. It came and was 3 or 4 very thin slivers of bread.
We were still sitting with a half decanter of wine and the service person dropped our bill on the table. Very uncool.
Very close quarters and no place to sit and wait until one's table is available.
Would not return or recommend the restaurant.
Belotti quickly became our favorite restaurant after moving to Oakland. Staff is awesome and food is amazing. You’ll need to make a reservation in advance.
Exceptional Italian. Could easily be the best in the east bay if not Bay. Crazy fresh and flavorful. Loved every single thing we had.
Belotti has been great on every occasion I’ve been there. My daughter and I especially enjoy going spontaneously for a late lunch. Great neighborhood gem.
Best pasta in town. Salads and other extras are also great. Our only (minor) complaint is that they're heavy on pasta dishes that contain red meat. A few more vegetarian options would be great. Still, you can recommend to anyone with confidence.
Belotti is one of my favorite restaurants. The Agnolotti di Lidia is my favorite pasta and it is hard for me to try something else. But, you can't go wrong with the pastas. Pappardelle is a standout , as is Casoncelli. I have tried all of the appetizers-the simple salad and the antipasto are both excellent. I have never tried any of the main courses, because the pasta is so wonderful. You must try this restaurant. It may be short on decor but service is warm and thoughtful and the food is outstanding.
Fabulous in every way! A treat for foodies everywhere! Definitely need a reservation at least a few weeks ahead!
Go and enjoy...
