Visited here for the mother’s day brunch, views and ambience are amazing, great service and food was good but oh my, the prices are eye wateringly expensive. Bill for 4 for the brunch, no drinks and a service charge $730!
Lisa was personable and professional. All our needs were anticipated. Great meal and service.
We love to come to the El Encanto because there is a casually elegant ambiance and were treated to knowledgeable, attentive service of a most delicious meal with fabulous cocktails and wine. It's out go to place for a special occasion.
The view was amazing even though it was cloudy. The food was great with good portion sizes and the service was top-notch.
We sat inside because it was cold, but there is a large terrace with spectacular views of downtown Santa Barbara. Our server was friendly, helpful and on point. The food was delicious. Can't wait to go back.
Our server, Peter, was outstanding - very attentive, friendly and thoughtful. The setting, outside on the patio overlooking the gardens and ocean, was spectacular. The cost of $105 per person, while expensive, was less than other fine hotel brunches in the area. The El Encanto is now our go-to place for Sunday special occasion brunches.
We were there celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary and felt very spoiled! The service is outstanding, from the moment you arrive, the valet parking, the maitre d, the waiters, etc., everyone there makes you feel special. The food was really good and have the best selection of wines you can imagine. Will definitely recommend and go again!
As a restaurant, the most important thing is the food, second, the service, and having a nice environment to dine in, comes third, this place fails on the first two for the class of restaurant it is trying to compete in - it merely competes on its location/ambience.
The service was just fair. It took a very long time to just get coffee in the beginning. Then the server misunderstood my guest and served him a platter of smoked salmon instead of a smoked salmon omelet. He made it right eventually and then knocked one meal off the bill. For a place like El Encanto the servers should be better trained.
Food is OK hotel dining room quality. The service has gone down from previous visits. The setting is outstanding as always.
Needs some work. Over priced for quality of food. Probably won’t return
The food and the service were good, but it was a windy and cold evening and despite having reservations, there was only outdoor seating available since the restaurant had booked a private party for the entire indoor dining room. I made the reservation well in advance. I have no idea why I wasn't informed that there was NO indoor dining that night, I'll never know. I do think this a HUGE FLAW since I had two guests who were in their 80's (one being the birthday girl) and were cold despite the overhead mounted heaters. Very inconsiderate.
Hard to beat the fantastic views - - im a fan of the chinese chicken salad for lunch!
I took my Mother here for lunch on her Birthday. The staff were so kind and accommodating offering her a complementary birthday mimosa to start off. I cannot say enough about the service. It was stellar. The view was 5 star as was the food. We sat out on the coverd terrace which was absolutely perfect. No blinding sun but plenty warm.
Drop dead gorgeous view, excellent food and wine, service is nice— best described as very relaxed and unhurried
We had a nice evening with friends. The food was good, but not extraordinary. The setting and decor were exceptional. It would have been the perfect place to visit with friends, but the service was very forced. They were nice enough, but were trying too hard. They kept interrupting our conversation. It was not crowded so they did not need the table. If they had backed off a little it would have been great.
Gorgeous view of trees, hills and ocean sitting from SB hillside terrace dining. Delicious food and wine! Fantastic service! A must for special occasions!!!!
This is a return visit since December. They continue to "up' their game. Service was probably best of last 3 times and the food was quite good (especially the duck confit - was nice and crispy brown). Both main dishes served very hot like they should be and we look forward to our next visit.
What a wonderful experience celebrating our daughters 18 year old birthday. From the start to the end, nothing but impeccable service. The view from the dining area is one of the most stunning views I’ve ever laid my eyes on. Food fantastic and if you are looking for a getaway, stay at the Belmond.
We opted for an inside table overlooking the valley. Very romantic and beautiful ambiance inside the dining room. Our server Alicia was attentive, friendly and professional.
We got quite the spread consisting of the kanpachi, bone marrow, kobocha squash soup, prawn tagliatelle, pork chop, Brussel sprouts and mushrooms. Every single dish was substantial yet delicate and we enjoyed every bite.
The music from the piano player tricked into our room and set the mood just right. He played everything from classic mozart to the Star Wars theme song. Every note was on point , the same could be said for our evening. We will definitely be coming back.
I had dined at the El Encanto for breakfast and lunch previously, but had never dined for dinner. Overall it was a beautiful experience, however if you are looking for amazing vegan/vegetarian options, this wouldn't be my first choice. We ordered a vegan-friendly soup which was fantastic, but our entrees were simply okay. For the price, I didn't think it was a great value. The El Encanto is a beautiful place and staff is always friendly. I'm sure we will be back, but maybe not for dinner next time. For non-vegans I'm sure their menu offerings are exceptional.
Had dinner early on a Wednesday with my kids and their grandparents. Very nice The food was amazing. Saving up for my next dinner.
This was my first time at this restaurant. It is an expensive spot to eat so my expectation was that the service and food would be impeccable. The food was quite good, and worth coming back for, but the service was lack luster. One dish we ordered didn't even make it to the table. When we mentioned it, they said sorry and would bring it out no charge but we were finished with our meals. I am sure it is hard to get good servers in a town with so many restaurants, but I would expect the best coming to this establishment. I will go back and try again since the food and the views are fantastic.
We had a very nice dinner. The dining room is quiet, nicely lit and well decorated. Good food and fine service
Absolutely awful! Went for Restaurant Week. No choices on their menu and main dish was spaghetti. This had the same name as their $42 spaghetti on dinner menu but we were told the restaurant week one did not include truffles. There was absolutely nothing on this spaghetti besides cream and Parmesan. Totally bland and unattractive presentation with nothing else on the plate. Tiny portion. Came home hungry. Went to two other local restaurants for restaurant week and they each had three choices for each course and were totally delicious. Service slow and confusion over bill. We arrived at 5:10 pm and after a couple of requests received some bread to nibble on at 6 pm. Some of my party were just getting drink order taken. Shame on the 4 Seasons. They should not participate in Restaurant Week if they plan on short changing customers.
El Encanto is an amazing dining experience. Excellent food and service, all with a beautiful view overlooking the Santa Barbara coastline.
We experienced Santa Barbara Restaurant Week menu items...we each ordered different offerings on the fixed menu, & enjoyed beautifully presented & savory dishes.
Absolutely horrible service, especially at this price point and for a 5-star hotel. This isn’t our first visit but it will be our last. Many great alternatives for great food, great views and a few options with great service. I recommend Little Door and Tre Lune for starters (for amazing and great service). Looking forward to trying Miramar-for food and views. Also looking forward to San Ysidro Ranch rebuilding.
We went twice last week for the restaurant week menu. We enjoyed every dish. Nothing extravagant but cooked perfect, presented well, and with the exact portion size. We are happy they have more vegetarian options now. The only bummer is the corkage fee $40. I wish it was that price for weekends but half that week days. As locals we are happy to be back and want to support the new chef.
This restaurant is one of my favorites in Santa Barbara. It is located in the hills near the SB Mission and has the best view of the city and sea. There is an elegant inside dining room, but I prefer sitting alfresco on the lovely tiered terrace. Take someone special. Propose a toast and settle in for an unforgettable meal!
The service and food was not what I was hoping for. It took 45 minutes to get our order taken and it wasn’t even busy. We wanted to try out a new place since it was restaurant week and as soon as we asked for the restaurant week menu, the vibe changed. I got the chicken and it was over cooked and I found a long hair in my dessert. The only good thing I can say was that the view was spectacular.
food veg were cold. Hugh wait for each course. overall not happy
Great location, great service, great food! Is a little expensive, but great overall!
We had a wonderful time with a spectacular view, delicious food and warm staff. We look forward to returning soon!
The Kitchen missed a good execution of the meal and the service left to be desired.
We were celebrating our 40 year anniversary
The service was outstanding
Recommend the sashimi and the sea bass and dessert
Maybe would not repeat the rib eye
Jan 16, had a wonderful experience at the El Encanto for my birthday and goodby time for friends leaving town.
HOWEVER...I was very upset with the OPEN TABLE and/or EL Encanto Dining Room for the stupid,
stupid booking situation. My friends had an appointment and I asked for 6:15 or 6:30 dining reservations...
was told the only available seating was 5:45 or 8:30. EXCUSE ME!!! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?
We rearranged our appointments, showed up on time, had a lovely evening, BUT THERE WERE ONLY ABOUT 3 OTHER TABLES OCCUPIED DURING OUR 2 1/2 hrs. there on the patio, and probably 5 tables in the main dining room.
THIS WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE, AND I WOULD BE ADAMANT IN TELLING OTHER PEOPLE TO BE AWARE OF A BAD SEATING SITUATION! Sad, to pay for an elite experience and find this kind of stupidity!
We got to El Encanto 15 minutes early, so we walked through the pathways around the “Turtle Pond” and the Cottages back to the restaurant. Charming! Robin our server was a delight and the food was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. First time there for my wife and now she’s thinking of reasons we should go back soon.
Average dinner. Service was very much lacking. Nice setting
