Joey is very kind, thoughtful, and is always attentive to your eating and drinking desires. Joey is the best of the best!
Great atmosphere, super classy, amazing patio views. Food was amazing all around. Asked for a change in prep for main course and it was no problem at all. Was expecting sticker shock but was reasonable cost. This is a MUST GO restaurant for santa barbara area.
Always a pleasure dining on the patio at the Belmond! Lovely day brunch with the ladies celebrating a monumental birthday.
This was our first time at El Encanto. We received a gift card from our Real Estate agent. Your service was excellent, as was your wait staff Alex was great. We enjoyed the view from our great table. Loved the dessert!! The low point of the visit was when we tried to use the $150.00 gift card. We were told your “ machine “ was down and they just charged our card.
Incredible meal, incredible service. New favorite spot!
Although the menu is limited, there are some great choices and everything was perfectly executed. The setting is gorgeous (we ate on the patio). The service was excellent across the board with the standout being our main server Kelly. Seafood was very fresh and the locally sourced ice cream and sorbet were delicious.
Wonderful experience and the food was amazing. Definitely will be back, so happy to have discovered this gem.
As a neighbor of El Encanto I have been enjoying lunch with friends on the terrace for very many years. This time everything was better: the new menu, the prompt and very professional service, the presentation of the food, even the ambiance - despite some noise from a group of ten people. Very forgivable, good to see people having fun!
I have dined here many times over the years. The location and views make this a truly extraordinary setting for what should be an exceptional dining experience. Unfortunately, as much as our server was kind, extremely polite and well intentioned he had no experience. I ordered a bottle of French Champagne which he brought out completely warm. When we suggested that he get some help from the manager or wine director he came back and told us that all the champagne was the same temperature. Then we were served wine glasses with ice cubes in them to cool the champagne ! The poor young gentleman seemed to have no help or proper training that should be requisite for a place like this.
I am supposing that the paucity of people wanting to work is a source of the problem but, in the end, it will hurt the business.
Excellent food and service. It was evening so couldn't' really see out, but I'm sure the view is incredible.
Superb in every way- Bravo!
Lisa was our server. Really good service over and above! Will be back for sure!
Great setting, great food, exceptional service. Highly recommend.
We sat outside on the terrace where we had a spectacular view of the ocean and the sunset. The
appetizers and entrees were superb. I even got freshly baked gluten free bread upon request. The desert, the Lemon Goleta was unique and delicious.
The service was excellent. It was a most memorable and delightful evening in a beautiful spot.
The location and atmosphere are first class. The service was quirky. Arrived 4 minutes ahead of schedule. They would not seat me until the exact time of my reservation in spite of many open tables. Gave us breakfast menus even though they had stopped serving breakfast 30 minutes earlier. After they replaced those with lunch menus everything went well. Service was excellent.
I ordered fish and chips. Reasonable but not outstanding quality. Served in a metal basket about 10 inches tall. Could not use a knife and fork. Awkward. Had to eat with my fingers. No salad or Cole slaw etc. Not better or worse than other restaurants. Extremely expensive for what it was.
Wonderful birthday celebration at sunset wile dining outside. Excellent service
For years we've given this restaurant an opportunity. Over those years it has gotten better but still has room to grow. It may be a case of resting on their laurels because they do have one of the nicest view decks in Santa Barbara. The food has improved, particularly at dinner. We recommend the Mary's Chicken with mushrooms and chicken stock plus two sides (the sides are generous portions - we particularly enjoyed the Riviera gratin (essentially ratatouille) and the Brussel sprouts). Service is not up to par for what is aiming to be a luxury restaurant (had to ask several times for items to be brought to the table, oysters served without a spoon for the mignonette which was too heavy on the vinegar anyway, etc...). We've brunched there also and again, stunning views but even brunch service wasn't great. All in all, it is a good but not great experience.
Went for our wedding anniversary and everything was wonderful! Come hungry for brunch as it is a fixed 5 course meal.
The only reason why I am giving a rating of four stars is because the restaurant did not contact us soon enough to let us know that the dining hours had changed. We were driving from San Francisco to Santa Barbara then meeting with a friend for lunch. We timed it perfectly although when we checked into the dining room, the maître d’ said that our reservations were changed to 12 noon. It was an 11:30a reservation prior to the new hours for lunch. We had to literally wait for half an hour in the bar before the hostess seated us even though the restaurant was quite empty. I would think that they could have seated us and offered us to order an appetizer and drinks while waiting. We did not want to do brunch. Unfortunately, this was not the impression I wanted to make with my friend.
I checked my emails and found out that the restaurant did send me a notification, but at 11:58am on the same day of my reservation at 11:30am. Not acceptable or professional. Unfortunately, it was a time intensive meeting so a mere half an hour made a huge difference. Next time I will physically call the restaurant prior to going to assure everything’s on schedule. I may suggest you do the same.
Beautiful scenery, wonderful service, and wonderful view of Santa Barbers!!!
Highly recommend it!
Peter was the best!
We had a lovely Anniversary dinner on the outside patio. The service was incredible with all staff using our names and Nancy our head wait staff was attentive, yet not overbearing. The food was beautifully presented and very good. The one change I would have liked would be to have the skin on my black cod crispy vs. soft, but that is a personal preference. Overall we would definitely recommend and go for another special occasion.
You simply can’t go wrong dining at the Belmond El Encanto.
The service, food and views are outstanding and the views from the deck are great.
They have an extensive global wine list with a great variety - though the markup above retail was well above industry standard.
Definitely a situation where you get what you pay for.
The service here is impeccable. The dining area is romantic and classically elegant. Everything was delicious and as promised on the menu. Can’t wait to return!
Excellent selection of appetizers. Broad selection of main courses with option to modify the meals according to ones preference. Spectacular desert selections.
Simply not enough staff attention - waited for meals, came out a Ross the table at different times, etc. Love the location and usually love the food.
A beautiful location, food was very good but not amazing considering the price.
Excellent and the food prep was very very good . I will recommend and come back soon .
This is one is one of my favorite places in Santa Barbara. The service is perfect and the food is fresh and clean.
Great ambiance. Food, service, views are all top-notch, as it should be for the price category. The live music provided the perfect backdrop for our birthday celebration (not overpowering just pleasant ... appropriate for fine dining and conversation).
The view from the patio is beautiful on a clear day. The heaters do not emit much heat so bundle up if you are there at night. The service was top notch and the special gimlet drink was great. I had the butternut squash bisque and it was pretty flavorless. I also had the salmon with citrus salsa. It was good but a little bland and the servings were a bit small for $35. For a $250 dinner I expected much more in selection and elevation of dinners.
We sat on the patio mat sunset and had a wonderful evening. It got a bit chilly and the heaters didn’t work as well as they should have. The food was fantastic and the view spectacular.
The Belmond Encanto deserves 5 stars all the way shouted from the rooftops. Kudos to the chef as every piece of food was absolutely delicious! And we are picky eaters. We tried the tuna tartar, scallops, duck, ramen, salads and various desserts and each meal that came we honestly felt like it was the best we ever had. Add to that an extremely attentive and polite service, a gorgeous view, music played during dinner to liven up the atmosphere and a pet friendly environment and you have everything needed for a memorable night out. We will definitely be back!
The Dining Room at the Belmond El Encanto proves that you can be excellent and 5 star and pristine without being pretentious. Did I mention we arrived a little early and they were able to accommodate and seat us? It was already busy and got busier las the night wore on. Oh, beautiful sunset views as well.
We’ve been to many Michelin star restaurants that we felt were overrated. This meal was more delicious than the Michelin stars.
First time to Belmond El Encanto and it WAS AMAZING! Try the scallops if you haven't had them - lifechanging. The one downside was that there was a wedding going on while we were there and I wish they would have been corralled better to the gazebo where the reception was taking place than overtaking the bar and dining room area. OVERALL though, would highly recommend and definitely will be going back!
Fabulous dinner.. food was amazing and our server Alex Cruz was exceptional! Loved the entire experience!
If you have a lot time, if you’re not hungry and can wait for service; this is your place. The only thing that was worthwhile was the ambience . Aside from that, nothing spectacular in fact it’s probably the worst service from host to waiter. Won’t be come back.
Gorgeous view, great servers. Loved the evening.
Amazing view. One of our guests, from Texas no less, claimed she had "one of the best burgers EVER!"
They were busy but it was a good experience
