We enjoyed the Fish Tacos and the Tortilla Soup. Both were excellent. We stopped for a quick lunch while we were on the road, but would love to come back for a leisurely dinner. Great views too.
Since we don't live in Southern California, it's been many years since revisiting El Encanto. The venue remains wonderful, with a view of the Pacific Ocean (facing south !!!). My wife said it was one of the most beautiful restaurants she has been too.
The Butternut Bisque was excellent. I had the duck breast, which was nicely done medium rare and generous in portions.
The only slight knock was the wine list. I had a nice Evening Land Eola Amity pinot noir. It was a good wine, but seemed a bit overpriced for a bottle that can be had foe $25/bottle.
Overall, a wonderful experience.
Yum.....Fried Avocado and Tempura Appetizers were the perfect start. The Stearn’s Wharf cocktail with Mezcal is yummy but I am still partial to the Holy Smoke. Main course of Ramen was delicious! Closed out with the Goleta Lemon for dessert which is always exceptional. Our server was attentive and helpful. There was a larger group of 10-12 who were in a bday party mode and were a bit intrusive on the dining experience. Of course we will all enjoy a meal there again soon.
Delicious meal beyond our expectations!! Wonderful service and views!
A nice dinner, a little spendy. The menu seemed weirdly limited. Very nice wine list.
Just an amazing experience with amazing food!
great service and ambiance as always. Would be nice to have a few more options on the menu.
The food and service were impeccable.... Thank you for the special evening.
Maybe it was just a bad day, but I've never had service this bad at any level of restaurant, from start to finish. I worked as a server when I was younger and always give the benefit of the doubt, but by the end I had to tell the server just how poorly they had done, how many time they dropped the ball. And for all of it, had he bothered to ask us how we were doing, he could have corrected a few of the problems, but the first time he even came back was with check. We counted 8 problems - like wrong dish, items missing from order, forgot drinks, delivered settings after the food, etc - really, it was like they didn't even care that we were there.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience at El Encanto's Dining Room. On behalf of the entire restaurant staff, I want to sincerely apologize for the series of unfortunate events that you encountered while dining with us. The service you described is in no way how we would like to carry ourselves. We hope you will give us another opportunity to regain your trust and to deliver superb service.
Beautiful setting. Delicious Cesar salad with skirt steak. Loved the watermelon martini drink. Odd charcoal bread with fennel.
Birthday celebration! It was all around a lovely experience. Excellent food and phenomenal service.
Fantastic in every way! Food was delicious and the view is amazing. Truly a SB hidden gem for brunch!
We visited for an anniversary dinner. The staff were prompt and went above and beyond to acknowledge the occasion. The food and drinks were wonderful. Highly recommend!
Beautiful patio. Very safe pandemic patio dining.
Wait staff very attentive at beginning of meal, but then disappeared completely for a long time. Never asked to or refilled our water glasses (it was hot!)
Since the outdoor space is large, it’s very hard to get any staff attention and we certainly didn’t want to yell.
Our server Lisa did a great job. Gorgeous views. Amazing food!
Perfect! Magical experience high above Santa Barbara. Excellent scallops, lovely service. Fire towers made the evening glorious!
Wonderful setting. Great food. Very friendly service!
Both very good service and cusine. Wine list is well curated, and the different pour selection of the by-the-glass is a great way to try a variety of local wines. My server was attentive, with na eye for detail, and was very kind to my young son. The environment was covid friendly, with outside seating and we'll spaced out tables. Each outside table had a personal heater or umbrella if so desired. Can't wait to go back.
Wonderful overall. One of my SB favorites always.
Great views outdoors, excellent food, taste bread that comes with lunch
Amazing service in a perfect setting!
Great location, amazing food and service.
We enjoyed our dinner
The ambiance is beautiful. The food was fresh and hot upon serving. The service itself unfortunately was slow. The service team appeared to be way understaffed for a full restaurant.
Food mediocre at best, service deteriorated when it got busier.
Our server Rudy was wonderfully attentive & helpful with menu recommendations- thanks for having great professionals!
More than a brunch, this was a bucket list experience. Located in a fairytale setting with a panoramic view of Santa Barbara, this is truly a memorable experience. The food is artfully presented and tastes as good as it looks. Come with an appetite as the Sunday brunch includes bottomless mimosas or Bellinis, fresh-pressed juices, an artisan bread basket, a tray of appetizers, your choice of entree, and an assortment of desserts. Also enjoyed the wonderful live music!
One of the most desirable dining locations in Santa Barbara. Lovely setting, great views. We have dined here twice now. Overall the food is pretty good the service is friendly but extremely slow and not well organized. Yes it is expensive but there is value in the environment which you are dining.
I’ve been coming here from out of the area for years. We love staying here and sitting on the patio for meals. To be honest, I’ve never thought the food was great but always loved the ambiance and would still come back. However this time, the food was literally horrible. We had a butternut squash soup that my wife said tasted like dishwater. I tried as well and was just awful. Rest of dinner also pretty terrible. Salad was bad, burger bad. Scallops were super gritty. I honestly hate to write negative reviews like this but we LOVE El Encanto and want it to be better and want to come back. At this point, I would never go back to eat there again.
Great view, good service, amazing deserts. Romantic ambiance
The food was very good. The service was excellent. The outdoor patio setting is lovely, but cold. We arrived for dinner at 6:30 and my wife and I both had jackets (she had two), but it started out cold and got even colder. They have heaters on the patio but they are for looks only. They don't put out any heat. The restaurant has some tables with overhead heaters and we asked to move, but there weren't any tables available. We weren't the only ones asked to move to those tables. We were at Lucky's the night before and their heaters were all the overhead style and worked well.
The food is awesome and I don't have any reservations about that. However, for how expansive the place is, I would have expected a much better and faster service. We went there twice within one weekend and the same issue. We asked for bread refill and they said "they ran out".
When we asked for soda or coffee refills, it took them more than 20-30 minutes to even bring that. For a regular place, this might be acceptable but for a self proclaimed 5 stars upscale restaurant, this is definitely not acceptable.
On a positive note, the view, the ambience and the food is amazing. I would love to go there again hoping the service would improve.
Loved loved loved! Such a delicious brunch, great views, and amazing service. Make sure to come hungry!!!
Beware of their Sunday reservations. It says they have breakfast and lunch, but they only serve a standard brunch menu which is not available online to view in advance.
Dear JohnM, Thank you for your recent review of El Encanto, a Belmond Hotel. I most sincerely apologize for the shortcomings and miscommunications experienced during your visit to the Hotel. We are always more than happy to accommodate the needs of our guests and we hope you will give us another chance to deliver superb service and communication. Sincerely, Julia S. Marketing Manager
Best location in Santa Barbara for breakfast
Our go to lounging and breakfast place in Santa Barbara!
Hugo, our server was amazing! Service was great and the outdoor patio was so lovely and calming. Loved our brunch and can’t wait to go back!
We ate here for Easter breakfast. The deck is always a beautiful setting for any meal. The device could have been better for the prices that you pay here. I had that same experience that last time I ate here. The breakfast food was great. We had the granola, avocado toast, eggs Benedict and smoked salmon and bagel. The juice drinks are tasty and healthy! I will return again.
Consistently outstanding. From the valet to the waiter, the service is always exceptional and the food is always delicious.
We were 10 minutes early for our reservation, and waited about 15-20 minutes to be seated, and another 10-15 minutes to be greeted by our server. They were busy, to be sure, but it took several asks to receive water.
The food had little flavor. Couscous in the farmer’s market vegetable dish was burned and hard. This was an exceptionally poor experience for the price.
The view is beautiful.
