Bellini Grill Ratings and Reviews
We were pleasantly surprised. Having lived in the area never went here before. Service and food were very good. Would definitely recommend it. All pasta dishes were fresh. Chicken Parm was fresh, not frozen. Appetizers all were very good as well as were desserts.
Bellini Grill is one of those restaurants that I've walked by hundreds of times over the years but have never been to, for no specific reason--so we made a reservation on short notice, the location was very central and ideal for where we were going to be and the reviews were very good--we had a very good meal, good service, the place was packed and bustling, tables were tight and it was a little noisy/energetic, but all in a good way--nice, but a very comfortable vibe/atmosphere--our waiter was friendly and attentive, we had the chicken soup, a couple of salads, entrees were a veal dish and the red snapper special, gelato for dessert, all good--would recommend and will return.
Food is always good, service is prompt. The owner, chef is a charming guy who will come out to see how you are doing. They make the best cannoli in Philadelphia, they actually use what they do in Italy sheeps milk for the filling. His homemade pasta is well prepared. One of my favorites with their spinach gnocchi which I usually will order as an appetizer. It’s a small place, but homey and friendly and within one block of Rittenhouse Square. I highly recommend the place.
Our go-to place in Center City west of Broad. Good Italian fare - staff turnover is minimal so these guys care about your experience. This most recent visit was a Saturday evening and there were a few groups in there so noise level was up. We’ve been there on other nights where it is couples or 4’s so noise level is much lower. Kitchen is reliable and always delivers.
The food was very good. My husband who can not eat dairy products had some choices. the food service was very slow. We arrived about 6 pm (we were going to the theater at 8 pm) but our main course (we didn't have any appetizers, salads or cocktails) didn't arrive until close to 7 pm. We were able to get to the theater on time without rushing but we got concerned, especially since we told our waiter that we had theater tickets.
The number in our party changed from the time I made the reservation. The restaurant handled that well.
My husband and I split the grilled calamari on greens - it was very good. My husband ordered the lamb shank and loved it. I ordered crab ravioli - also very good. The service was fair given that it wasn’t very busy. Also, the waiter should have advised that the special lamb shank offering was $38. This price point was significantly above the other dishes here, so we felt something should have been said about that. It was a surprise when the bill arrived.
The staff was really great. The seating is a bit cramped, we moved tables as my super tall husband could not fit in the first table assigned to us! The hostess and wait staff was really nice, very attentive. The food portions were perfect. Food was very good, not outstanding. We would go again if going to the theater (we were going to the Academy of Music) but would not go there otherwise. I would highly recommend for the theater crowd as it is good food in a timely and friendly fashion.
This was our first time here. It was on a Saturday evening about 7:30p. Although the place is tiny, the bar seating is only about 6 seats total, and the noise level is moderate, the food was outstanding, and this was only topped by our waiter's excellent wine suggestion.
Will definitely be recommending, and will be back!
We love going to Bellini and they never disappoint! We brought friends who had just visited Italy and we discussed the wine and food of Tuscany with our wonderful waiter, Tani. We had great meals, excellent service and a wonderful evening. We will be back - and so will our friends!
The owner overbooks reservations and does not show much respect for his "guests" when telling them to be patient and wait their turn to be seated. We had theater tickets and I asked him to be honest with me as our 6:30 reservation was about to be closer to 7pm. He dismissed me, we couldn't order anything except dinner- no apps, no desserts, etc. I will not be dining here again.
Found this restaurant through an open table search.
Inside is simple and basic, the food was very good, servers were attentive and the service was well-timed. I could see how it might get tight inside on a busy night, it was starting to fill up when we left after an early reservation.
No complaints! Would definitely go back.
We arrived in Philadelphia and, on our first night, our hotel concierge advised us to dine at Bellini, a great choice. Wonderful starters, good choice of wines by the bottle or glass, excellent soups, lobster raviolis, veal selections, and tiramisu and tartufo desserts, among others. If you are going to order veal, their veal is so good I would advise against fried, but other preparations that are more subtle. So, the following night we returned and, like Arlo Guthrie, had another dinner "that couldn't be beat."
We loved our dinner at Bellini grill. We had a drink at the bar first/ while waiting for a table. Staff was very friendly and conversational. We had requested a nice, romantic table as we were celebrating our anniversary. The table was worth the wait- they sat us at a great window table - could enjoy ambiance of the restaurant but not be right in the middle of it all- very special!! The food was amazing- my husband who is not a huge red sauce fan thought his chicken parm and sauce was fantastic. Great service- never rushed and with honest recommendations. A gem of a place!!
It has been years since we’ve been to the Belinni Grill. I’m happy we came back. They now have a full service bar, which is a nice feature. My husband and I shared the calamari salad special - the calamari was very tender. My husband had the pesce zuppa, which he enjoyed, but the portion of seafood was on the small side. I had the lobster ravioli, which I needed to send back for re-heating, but it tasted good! The space is very tight, but all in all a good meal. We’ll be going back.
The waiter either did not order my side dish (pasta) or the kitchen forgot to prepare it. Anyway I cancelled the pasta because I was almost finished with the main platter. The bronzino was filleted tableside and had an extraordinary amount of bones. Also the fish was overcooked and dry. The skin had been left on. I had never had filleted fish with the skin left on.
Overall, this was not up to par. We always had a delicious meal and good service on all previous visits to this restaurant.
A curious restaurant. Everything was great but the food was just so so. Am referring to Veal Parm which was ordinary but overpriced. Small portion of salmon was served with just string beans. Past to accompany would have been extra. Ambience and service excellent but price and quality not matched well. When all is said and done it's the food that matters most.
