Bellamy's Restaurant and Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
We had our anniversary dinner here and it was a treat! The food was delicious and the service attentive. The hostess, the waiter, and the chef even recognized our special occasion! I work nearby and I will be visiting more often. The mushroom ravioli appetizer and the sea bass special recommended by the waiter are items worth trying when you visit.
My husbands 69th Birthday. Service was extremely slow and we truly felt ignored. We sat at 6:40 and were not served until 7:45!!
The food was good but not worth that wait and feeling ignored. The waiter forgot the last desert course of the 5 course chefs meal, too!!
Not coming back fir dinner there fir a long time.
We chose this restaurant as a special night out for our anniversary. The waiter graciously offered us a complimentary dessert in celebration. He was a great waiter. I liked the ambiance and wish I could say I loved my dinner but I did not. I had scallops which were very salty. The accompanying sauce was over powering . It’s quite pricey and unfortunately we wouldn’t try again.
Wonderful experience for birthday dinner. No wait w Open Table. Prompt attention w thoughtful patient waiter. Cocktails included nicely prepared "dirty martinis" severed in iced glasses. After inquiring about many different offerings including a 5 course chefs special, we each decided on starting with the albacore appetizer....beautifully prepared w razor thin jalapeno slices, creamed avocado spots and other matched flavors. Dinner was sea scallops with perfect risotto and the other shrimp dish that were both very enjoyable and shared. A select pinot noir was choice for dinner.
Our waiter let us know if in a hurry to order apps w dinner, we told him we were there for the evening and no hurry! If going there, let them serve you on their schedule.....its worth every minute. Tip...be with someone you care to be with, have conversation and stay off the iPhones. Our birthday surprise included a rum berry creme brulee and comp''d glass of wine!
Perhaps it was an off night, I've had good experiences at Bellamy's the few times I've been before. It was a Saturday night and very busy, so the wait staff seemed spread way too thin. Although friendly, the service didn't seem as polished as it should be. No tablecloths was a downer, although that seems the way it's going nowadays. The food was slow in getting there, but for the most part was well prepared and tasty, with the expectation of the lobster bisque which was way-way too salty. It was my wife's birthday and they knew it but didn't offer her a slice of cake or even wish her a happy birthday - the kiss of death for special occasion eateries. I spent $150 and didn't feel like it was worth it.
I visited Bellamy's for a special occasion and I was not disappointed. The Food is some of the best around. We had a reservation and arrived a little early, but found the staff very accommodating. The hostess, Server, assistant and manager were all very kind and helpful. I felt like we had the best seat in the house, in the quiet corner (very romantic). The gentle sound of live piano in the lounge and the dim candle light helped set the mood. We had a great time. Thank you
We were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and had reservation at 5:30 as this restaurant fill's up around 6:30 we wanted better service, going earlier helps. What was frustrating a large rude man pushed in front of us with a 6:30 reservation they took him placed him at table 6 he didn't like it and wanted table 8 they accommodated his request and put us in a corner at table one...when discussing with manager he said they reserved that table which was clearly not the case as I watched the whole thing go down...that really bothered me. Bellamy's chef is outstanding and they have for the most part amazing food, however they need to do a whole lot of training in the front of the restaurant. Taking a pushy guy who's reservation is an hour later instead of seating the correct reservation is not how it's done. When dining at Bellamy's if scallops are available order them they are heavenly, so is the lamb chop...many delightful entrees, good wine list.
Getting together with friends for dinner our dining experience was wonderful. Our waiter was knowledgable, courteous, accomodating and attentive. The staff was always coming by to see if we needed anything, water refills, another drink. They promptly cleared our dishes when we were done with each course. I wish I could remember our waiter's name to give him credit. This was our first time there and I am looking forward to going back again. I can't say enough about how flavorable and well prepared the food was. I ordered my steak medium and it was perfect, just slightly pink, juicy and tender. Our salads had the perfect amount of salad dressing, not too much to take away from enjoying the mixed greens. And the apple tart was fresh and flaky. I definately will be going back.
This is the second time we've eaten here. Both times the food was very tasty and good, but the service is lacking. Although the employees are all friendly & accommodating, they must be sorely understaffed. Everything took way too long - to order, to get our check and especially to get our dinners. After a while, our waiter said dinners would be out in 10-12 minutes, but it was still more than 20-25 minutes. It really spoils the evening!
Our dinner at Bellamy's was a highlight of our trip to California! Chef Jonathon let us try several things we hadn't ordered, including Carrot Ginger Soup which my husband loved (even though he never would have ordered it!) We both had fish which were delicious and tried several desserts as a special treat for our anniversary! I highly recommend Bellamy's!
Totally enjoy Bellamy's! The problem I have with Bellamy's is the noise level. There need's to be more acoustics/sound deader or carpeted floors. I am not only the only dining guests to mention the issue. The entrees and sides are always a winner no matter what you order. I enjoy that it changes. This time it seemed like there was only one waiter for the whole dining room. He did have an assistant. I had to keep asking for various items.
Way too noisy for me. It has changed since last year. Not happy with this. Not romantic anymore. Disappointed and it was an anniversary celebration.
I liked it the old way. Service was excellent. Food was blah.
Bellamy's was truly a spectacular experience! We were a table of six and the food was fabulous, the ambience was gorgeous and our wait person AJ was practically the best part of the experience he was so on top of making our large table feel special and pampered. I am a lifestyle blogger and a foodie and I'm happy to say that finally downtown Escondido has a phenomenal new restaurant for real cuisine and grown up dining in Bellamys!
Food and service was exceptional , although it took long for the food to come. Did not matter in our case because we were a party of 6 and had plenty to talk about. They were VERY accommodating from changing seating to AC to splitting the Cesar salad and separate checks. We were impressed by all this. Very different from east coast restaurants. A party this size - separate checks ? Not happening. We definitely will be back.
We had a nice evening at Bellamy's, with an overall very good experience. The dishes were tasty and well prepared and the service was friendly and unobtrusive. It was a bit pricier, we thought, than it should have been. But it was helpful that the sommelier made a recommendation for a wine that was reasonably priced, even though there were other similar more expensive options.
We went to Bellamy's before a performance at the Escondido Center for the Arts . It is very close
and convenient. The atmosphere is intimate and the service is excellent. The sommelier graciously advised us on a wine selection. I ordered the seafood paella and my husband had the sea bass special. Both were terrific and not something I could have done at home. My mother-in-law was also with us and the noise level was very, very comfortable for her. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Had a reservation but busy Friday evening. It took forever for someone to acknowledge our presence, which didn't start things off well. Food was tasty and portions were generous. Nice live music was playing i the adjacent bar area. When we got the bill, it included an upcharge for a substitute side dish. When we questioned the waiter, he said the chef told him to add the extra charge & see if we complained - which we did. What a horrible way to treat (ie. trick) your customers. Don't think we'll be back...
