This was our 4th or 5th time at Bella Via. Food is always excellent. Mini meatball appetizer is worth the trip by itself! We asked for Danny, our favorite waiter. He always makes it a special event. Knowledgeable and friendly, he's never too busy for diners' questions and comments. He'll even share a story or two about his family. It's nice being welcomed like this.
This is my 9th or 10th visit to this wonderful restaurant. Everything the four of us had was fab-u-los. This biggest issue is we ate too much bread which was great. I love their grouper and my wife always gets some version of veal. The deserts were great as well. Stop by this GEM in downtown Highland Park.
Food is always awesome at Bella Via. My wife loves the dish of shrimp and broccoli in olive oil over angel hair pasta. My son always gets the lasagne and says it's the best he has ever eaten, his girlfriend loves the gnocchi, and I love their pizza with the "fresh" sauce and buffalo mozzarella.
Went on a Saturday nite with 2 lady friends. Got seated immediately, and the restaurant was crowded and noisy, but not enough to spoil anything. There was a private party in the back so there was a constant stream of guests passing our table, but good people watching!!!
I ordered the meat lasagne. It was delicious but cold. I sent it back, (which is something I rarely do), and my food was returned promptly. I liked the fact that a salad or soup was included in the entree price. I would definitely go back.
The hostess SHOUTED at us as we passed through the outdoor dining area. We were on our way inside to enquirer about our reservation but she assumed for no reason that we wanted to snag and outdoor table. we were served espresso in American coffee cups with no sugar available. Of course a tiny espresso went cold while we sought out sugar. Also we were given a plastic micro tube ala McDonalds as coffee stirrers. My fish dish was very tangy. No hint from the menu that this would be the case. Mushy fish in maybe a tamerind sauce? The piccata my wife had was merely ok. Seemed in finished. Flavors did not blend. Tables beside us complained of waiting an hour for dinner.
Our last visit to Bella Via was excellent. Not only was our meal delicious but our waiter, Dani, was outstanding. We have had him wait on us on previous visits and every time he treats us as if we are friends and not just patrons of the restaurant. He is always personable and make very good suggestions.
As far as the food, I had the Cioppino and it was delicious. The seafood was cooked perfectly but what really made the dish was the broth which was so good that I was sopping it up with bread after I had finished the all of the seafood.
All in all, a wonderful meal and I look forward to going back soon.
this is my 7th time at this wonderful restaurant. Food is always great but this is the first time we ordered desert and the Tiramisu and the Gelato where fabulous. Our waiter who is also the maitre d’ is a little full of himself but otherwise a wonderful evening. We ate inside but there are also table outside as well
