Bella Via Ristorante and Banquets Ratings and Reviews
Was very disappointed in the evening. The food was excellent, but the service was disappointing. We were RUSHED to order, RUSHED to order dessert (which we didn't) and I had indicated when I made reservations via Open Table, that it was my husbands birthday and it was never acknowledged. I was very surprised, and disappointed, as it wasn't that busy and it was where we decided to celebrate a special event.
Christmas Eve. A superb dinner in a comfortable, welcoming white-tablecloth setting. The salmon special, with pistachio crust, was probably the best salmon entree I’ve ever had. Chicken cacciatore was delicious. Main dishes came with salad or soup; minestrone was outstanding. Only the Caesar Salad was less than stellar. Order the mixed salad instead and ask for crumbled bleu cheese. It’s truly a “bella via” that brings you to this restaurant!
Our server Dani was GREAT!! He made us feel special- especially our grandson who he talked to about Minecraft. We live very near and there had been long periods of time that we hadn't gone there as the service was so awful - slow and impersonal. Something has changed - we go out EVERY week and we will come back! Ps food was excellent also!
Excellent food and service. After bring seated, our group of 4 asked to move to a quieter table in the corner and our request was acted upon happily. We thanked them heartily- the first table was immediately inside the dining room in a noisy location. Enjoyed a wonderful meal!
Got there at 4:20 for 4:30 reservation. Sign said they open at 5pm. Even though OpenTable booked us for 4:30. Hostess said she would seat us, but "nobody would be out to serve us until 4:30". It was just rude. If they don't want reservations at 4:30, then don't book them, but if you book them then you have to HONOR THEM with a SMILE. Totally not the customer's fault, and yet the hostess made us feel like idiots. Waiter was extremely nice, however won't go back. There are hundreds of better Italian restaurants in the area.
This was our 4th or 5th time at Bella Via. Food is always excellent. Mini meatball appetizer is worth the trip by itself! We asked for Danny, our favorite waiter. He always makes it a special event. Knowledgeable and friendly, he's never too busy for diners' questions and comments. He'll even share a story or two about his family. It's nice being welcomed like this.
This is my 9th or 10th visit to this wonderful restaurant. Everything the four of us had was fab-u-los. This biggest issue is we ate too much bread which was great. I love their grouper and my wife always gets some version of veal. The deserts were great as well. Stop by this GEM in downtown Highland Park.
Food is always awesome at Bella Via. My wife loves the dish of shrimp and broccoli in olive oil over angel hair pasta. My son always gets the lasagne and says it's the best he has ever eaten, his girlfriend loves the gnocchi, and I love their pizza with the "fresh" sauce and buffalo mozzarella.
Went on a Saturday nite with 2 lady friends. Got seated immediately, and the restaurant was crowded and noisy, but not enough to spoil anything. There was a private party in the back so there was a constant stream of guests passing our table, but good people watching!!!
I ordered the meat lasagne. It was delicious but cold. I sent it back, (which is something I rarely do), and my food was returned promptly. I liked the fact that a salad or soup was included in the entree price. I would definitely go back.
The hostess SHOUTED at us as we passed through the outdoor dining area. We were on our way inside to enquirer about our reservation but she assumed for no reason that we wanted to snag and outdoor table. we were served espresso in American coffee cups with no sugar available. Of course a tiny espresso went cold while we sought out sugar. Also we were given a plastic micro tube ala McDonalds as coffee stirrers. My fish dish was very tangy. No hint from the menu that this would be the case. Mushy fish in maybe a tamerind sauce? The piccata my wife had was merely ok. Seemed in finished. Flavors did not blend. Tables beside us complained of waiting an hour for dinner.
