Loved this place ! Being 100% Italian ... I can tell you Bella Via is the real deal!!! I felt like my mother was cooking !!
The food was alright, but was pretty mediocre for the price. The service was fairly bad: someone ordered black tea, then was brought an empty cup with a green tea bag in it (the waiter muttered something about that being the only kind they had) and had to ask the waiter later to actually bring hot water. The waiter missed that we’d ordered an appetizer, then originally brought the wrong side dish for one of our party. Considering the only decent food, the service, and the fact that the chairs and tables are squished in there with hardly any space to even get up from the table, it’s a mystery to me why it was so packed in there.
My lasagna was delicious.
I’ve been there when it’s excellent and also average. Tonight was average but we will be back
Very noisy even for Sat night. Food was served with no interval between appetizers and main course. The quality of the food was just average.
Excellent food, small but nice wine list. Good service. Front dining room is a little crowded with tables.
Went there after my girlfriend’s basic training graduation. Calamari was great, entrees were not, but I don’t like to complain.
I don’t remember our server’s name, but he was great as well. Very cute place, but if I’m hungry for more than an appetizer and a salad, I wouldn’t go back.
Great service and delicious food. We went for a belated valentines dinner.
It was great!
Birthdays for our granddaughter, however we go there for an dinner for occasions
Everything was tasty and good. The pasta was very fresh and tasted homemade. Service was quick, friendly and professional. Would definitely go back.
I am originally from Highland Park. My parents still live here. I invited a friend for dinner. Enjoyed experience;)
Good food, good service. Pretty good value, particularly for its Northshore location. I'd recommend it and go againz.
We love the atmosphere. Service was great. Prices are fair. We really enjoyed the toasted ravioli appetizer. We both order veal parmigiana, and while it was good, it and the side of pasta were rather bland and lacking a bit of flavor.
This is a comfortable neighborhood place with a nice Italian menu. Prices are fair and entrees include a soup or salad and a side of pasta. They have very nice party rooms for special events.
Staff is welcoming and pleasant.
We arrived about 20 min. early but were seated promptly. The restaurant was very pleasant the food was good the service attentive. In other words it did everything what a restaurant should do. They did it well.
Was very disappointed in the evening. The food was excellent, but the service was disappointing. We were RUSHED to order, RUSHED to order dessert (which we didn't) and I had indicated when I made reservations via Open Table, that it was my husbands birthday and it was never acknowledged. I was very surprised, and disappointed, as it wasn't that busy and it was where we decided to celebrate a special event.
We were very happy with everything at the restaurant. For whatever the reason the food was not as good as it usually is when we dine. But everyone was very pleased with the food, service and noise level.
Excellent food but disinterested service
Christmas Eve. A superb dinner in a comfortable, welcoming white-tablecloth setting. The salmon special, with pistachio crust, was probably the best salmon entree I’ve ever had. Chicken cacciatore was delicious. Main dishes came with salad or soup; minestrone was outstanding. Only the Caesar Salad was less than stellar. Order the mixed salad instead and ask for crumbled bleu cheese. It’s truly a “bella via” that brings you to this restaurant!
Fantastic food! The service was excellent. This restaurant has become one of my favorites! I will be back!
Our server Dani was GREAT!! He made us feel special- especially our grandson who he talked to about Minecraft. We live very near and there had been long periods of time that we hadn't gone there as the service was so awful - slow and impersonal. Something has changed - we go out EVERY week and we will come back! Ps food was excellent also!
Excellent food and service. After bring seated, our group of 4 asked to move to a quieter table in the corner and our request was acted upon happily. We thanked them heartily- the first table was immediately inside the dining room in a noisy location. Enjoyed a wonderful meal!
We were pleasantly surprised on how good the food was. Would definitely go back often.
Got there at 4:20 for 4:30 reservation. Sign said they open at 5pm. Even though OpenTable booked us for 4:30. Hostess said she would seat us, but "nobody would be out to serve us until 4:30". It was just rude. If they don't want reservations at 4:30, then don't book them, but if you book them then you have to HONOR THEM with a SMILE. Totally not the customer's fault, and yet the hostess made us feel like idiots. Waiter was extremely nice, however won't go back. There are hundreds of better Italian restaurants in the area.
Very delicious and fun!
Have been to BV many times and have recommended it until now. Extremely disappointing experience.
Always a star.
This is a good neighborhood restaurant! Service always good. Food is good. P
Our second time there; great food and super good service. Will go back again.
This restaurant was fantastic. The short rib ravioli was superb. Dena was very attentive and excellent. We will be back with our friends.
Everyone working at Bella Via was wonderful tonight to me and my mother and other diners both young and old. Everyone was attentive and friendly. Food was great as usual.
Fine food. Intelligent and able service from Dani.
Our waiter did a great job serving us. Would ask for him again.
This was our 4th or 5th time at Bella Via. Food is always excellent. Mini meatball appetizer is worth the trip by itself! We asked for Danny, our favorite waiter. He always makes it a special event. Knowledgeable and friendly, he's never too busy for diners' questions and comments. He'll even share a story or two about his family. It's nice being welcomed like this.
This is my 9th or 10th visit to this wonderful restaurant. Everything the four of us had was fab-u-los. This biggest issue is we ate too much bread which was great. I love their grouper and my wife always gets some version of veal. The deserts were great as well. Stop by this GEM in downtown Highland Park.
Food is always awesome at Bella Via. My wife loves the dish of shrimp and broccoli in olive oil over angel hair pasta. My son always gets the lasagne and says it's the best he has ever eaten, his girlfriend loves the gnocchi, and I love their pizza with the "fresh" sauce and buffalo mozzarella.
Wonderful service and food. When it gets busy the noise can be annoying. But will
Always go back! Love the Putenessca.
Our waiter, Danny, was fantastic and really made our night. the food here is always predictably good, and this is a great neighborhood spot.
The four of us had a great meal. Dani is an awesome server. We will be back soon!
