Bella Sogno Ratings and Reviews
Decent menu selection, moderately priced and BYOB make Bella Sogno a great place to add to the list of local places to try. In the warmer months I believe they also have dining out on the porch. No reflection on the food but the staff that waited on my party could not pronounce ricotta and both servers even made jokes about it. It's an Italian restaurant you'd think this would be a no brainer but as I said no reflection on the food or the service, in fact the servers were very attentive all night. Nice place.
Had dinner at Bella Sogno Wednesday night but we froze our A___es off! Just a note to the owner or manager, a nice gesture would have been to offer your customers a cup of coffee or tea and dessert for putting with eating in below 60 degree atmosphere instead of trying to sell it! Even an apology to the patrons would have been nice.
I understand it's not your fault but it is your responsibility to make the patrons comfortable, a little common courtesy would have went a long way.
We requested to have a table in the back, and sure enough we had one. The tables always looks so nice and inviting. The best part of all, the food is OUTSTANDING delicious. What more could you ask for. The whole group in Bella Sogno are very friendly and render wonderful service. I love to go there and have a delicious dinner and a relaxing time.
Tried this restaurant for the first time because I could not get a reservation last minute anywhere else. When we arrived at 7PM on a Friday night, it was almost empty. When we left at 8:30, it was still almost empty. But..... we did really enjoy the meal. The food was well prepared. I had a seafood fra-diavlo style and my wife had eggplant parm. Both were very good.
Service was friendly. Not a fancy place but pleasant decor. If you want good food on short notice (and BYOB is a bonus) give it a try.
I suspect they get more crowded in the summer.
I didn't expect much from an 'early-bird' offering at $15.00. Wow, was I surprised. You start with a choice of salad or soup - both a generous and tasty portion. The meal offerings were varied. I ordered the calamari in red sauce (also offered in a white garlic sauce) over pasta. I don't eat pasta but was able to substitute steamed spinach for an extra charge which I gladly paid. The calamari was cooked to perfection and the marinara sauce was wonderful!
My only disappointment was dessert which was limited to two dairy based choices of either bread or rice pudding. My dinner mate ordered from the regular menu which didn't include dessert so she got to enjoy mine!
The early bird special was truly special and I'll definitely return to dine at a later time because I want to try so many other items that I saw on the regular meant. I BTW - it's BYO!
I was visiting my family from Florida. We went to Bella Sogna based on a friend's recommendation and had a great time with really good food. All five of us enjoyed each of our dinners. I had the grilled Salmon and it was excellent. It is also BYOB which helps to keep the costs down. My only complaint was that they would not take our appetizer orders while we were waiting for one of my daughters to arrive. The restaurant does not want to take any orders until all persons are at the table. Didn't make sense to me. Luckily, my daughter was only 10 minutes late. We will definitely eat here again and i would highly recommend this to anyone in the Bradley Beach area.
Bella Sogna is a quaint neighborhood restaurant. It's a bring your own so that's always a plus. Nice menu selection and portions are sufficient and reasonably priced. Even though the restaurant is small you are still able to have a conversation without yelling. Tables are close together but because it's a neighborhood restaurant everyone is pleasant. Staff are friendly, efficient, and accommodating. Overall a great place.
Food was all very good. It did take a little time to come out, but worth it. Grilled pork chops were very moist and sauce was tasty. 3 salmon dishes at the table and all were devoured. House special salad also was unique with a yummy blueberry vinaigrette. Delightful night all around.
One and done! This restaurant is a definite "pass". My veal francais was average at best, my husband's veal chop was dry and tasteless. Even more disturbing than the sub-par food were the poor attitudes of the waitresses. We sat in the back where the waitresses congregate and had to listen to them complain about every table they waited on...over and over and over. Far from the relaxing dinner out we were hoping for. Too many great restaurants at the Jersey shore to waste your time here.
Our first time here. A quaint little Italian restaurant, nicely decorated, but was overshadowed by the loud rock and roll music. Somehow did not mesh well.
By 7 pm the restaurant was full. Service was very spotty as they only had 2 waitresses to cover the inside and outside tables. No true hostess, there was general confusion as people came in for their reservations. There was only one server who also took the part of bus boy and hostess.
The best part of the evening was the food which was very tasty.
The reviews made this restaraunt out to be one of the local favorites. We arrived to a table that was not close to the outside. It was a beautiful evening and there was an empty table closer to the open doors. We asked to move and it seemed like a big deal but we were accomodated. The table was wobbly. It took a long while for someone to fix it. I believe my husband was the one who fixed the problem.
The food was ok at best. Your typical Italian menu..which I love. I was hoping to be wowed from the reviews but was left feeling unsatisfied. Portions were medium in size but food was oily and tasted like it was canned. Not homemade at all. Bread was not good either from an Italian restaraunt. We, unfortuantely will not be returning.
The restaurant is really quite small. Our party of 10 was relegated to a large rectangular table that made conversation rather difficult. The restaurant was also somewhat warm, perhaps due to the fact that it was open to the outside. Service was also rather slow. Counterbalancing all that were the very extensive menu and excellent food. It was evident that great care was taken to provide quality ingredients. The prices were also surprisingly reasonable. We will certainly return ...... in the fall.
Bella Sogno is where I go when I want good Italian food. Mussels Pollipso! Clams Casino! Veal Sorrentino! Everything is so good. The atmosphere is comfortable and cozy. The staff is kind and patient. You can truly relax and eat at Bella Sogno. I have been several times before and their seafood dishes are also strongly recommended.
Party of four - all of us very much enjoyed the dinner. Table shared 2 orders of fried calamari as appetizer. All agreed it was light and tender. Food was fresh and delicious. I had the capellini pomodoro which was dressed just right with a light white wine sauce with garlic and basil, olives, peppers and tomatoes. Others had grilled pork chops, chicken balsamico and flounder francaise - everyone went home happy and fullfilled. Also have been to Bella Sogno for the early bird dinner - we have always enjoyed the food. Never felt rushed.
Small Bradley Beach Italian off Main St. BYOB. Good selection of classic plus daily specials. Very reasonable prices and friendly service. Excellent for groups or couples. Delicious eggplant parm, my barometer for all Italian restaurants, Great fresh bread and pasta.
The food is always perfect and the service excellent. My wife and I have been here at least 10 times and have never had the slightest complaint. I would recommend reservations as the place is small and cozy (romantic) and can fill up fast on weekends. All of the pasta dishes are fantastic....as well as their Chicken Scarpariello.
This restaurant right in the heart of Bradley Beach was a wonderful surprise. Made plans to meet a friend there as it was a half way point between our homes. We didn't know what to expect accept it was a BYOB. Well, the restaurant is small, but the menu is diverse and the food is terrific. Luckily my husband and I shared the salad, as it was large, but the size did not take a way from the taste. I had the trout almondine which was done to perfection, so tasty and moist. My husband had the salmon; also good. We were to full to order desert, but the menu had lots of tempting choices. The restaurant is small, so make a reservation.
Disappointing! After waiting a LONG time for our salad and then our entrée the dishes we selected, nothing extravagant, were not enjoyable. We are aware that food to order takes time but usually the end result is worth the wait. Not in this case. Management did comp us with dessert which was appreciated but again a little disappointing.
Hold the red sauce here--charming Bella Sogno produces flavorful Italian specialties without loading up with Southern-style red sauce. The most delicious eggplant caponata relish is served to every table after seating and wine is b-y-o, which makes the already reasonable process seem even better! We love the creative salads, Flounder Francaise in lemon-wine sauce; Veal Capri with mozzarella, basil and demi-glace with broccoli rabe; and grilled Salmon Spinacio served on a potato pancake with a port wine reduction. Many traditional dishes-- Eggplant Parm, Zuppa di Clams, Shrimp Scampi, are delicious too. Don't miss the showcase dessert, Tiramisu "Martini," scrumptious tiramisu in a giant martini glass large enough to share. Cozy spot!
We split the Bella Sogno Salad, which was delicious! My husband and I both enjoyed perfectly prepared veal dishes - Veal Marsala and Veal Sorrentino, respectively. The portions were perfect, but we opted out on dessert, as we were totally satisfied. The bread with eggplant spread before the meal was different and yummy as well. We brought our own favorite bottle of wine. The service was delightful and well timed. Thank you, Bella Sogno, for a lovely evening.
We had a reservation and were seated promptly, however, had to move tables because tablecloth was dirty. Waited about 1/2 hour for our salad. Entrees did not come out as ordered (flounder) and we had to send one entrée back to be cooked more. It was then served in pieces. Needless to say, we won't be returning.
