Enjoy fresh and delicious Italian fare at Bella Sera Trattoria. This cozy Italian restaurant serves an eclectic range of dishes in cozy settings. Inspired by the traditional cafes in Naples, the restaurant's main dining room comes with an open kitchen and offers a mix of elegance and warmth with dark paneling, brick-lined walls and soft overhead lighting. Bella Sera Trattoria also boasts a patio garden for diners who prefer an outdoor experience.
The menu features everything from hearty homemade pasta to mouthwatering pizza to light salads. The restaurant also offers gluten-free options on select menu items for guests with special needs. Visit during lunch and savor some angel hair pomodoro (pasta) while lingering on the patio. Complement your meal with a selection from the restaurant's wine collection. An ideal pick for everything from a romantic date, to a business lunch, Bella Sera Trattoria is open all through the week.
My wife and I are here almost every Friday night. We love the food, the wait staff is great and the ambiance is wonderful. We love it.
Portabello fries were good. Lasagna was terrible. The cheese was rubbery, only a teaspoon of ricotta cheese in the lasagna. Service was very good.
Nice place since it was remodeled. Be sure to try the bacon wrapped dates.
The food is fantastic and the wait staff is wonderful. The prices are very reasonable and their specials are a foodies treat. My wife and I have been 3 times and have not been disappointed. We had different wait staff each time and they were all excellent.
We needed to order a meal that was quite varied from what the menu ordered and the server was beyond gracious and patient. The kitchen was very accommodating as well.
The rest of our party thoroughly enjoyed our dinner as well. Delicious!
Thank you so much!
My wife and I were looking for an Italian restaurant that would prepare us for our trip to the Amalfi Coast in October. We found it in Monrovia and were quite surprised at the quality of the food, the wonderful ambience and the feel of being back in Italy. The prices were better than expected and they make a great Martini! The bread just melts in your mouth. We are definitely going back and taking friends with us.
Their A/C was broken in a very hot Saturday lunch hour the temp was almost 86 inside . the lights kept going off. The service was slow and uninformed about wine lists or daily menu, they were nice but didn't know anything .
If you open an Italian restaurant then you better have a really good lasagna in your menu . This place had the worst! Antipasto was soggy , the only ok item was the kale salad, and the gelato was a joke of a small melted scoop in the plate to end this memorable meal but for all the wrong reasons!
Our favorite downtown Monrovia restaurant was not top notch tonight. Service was lacking and food presentation/taste was not as it has been in the past. Hopefully it was just an off night. We prefer to dine here when the expo chef is in charge and he was not working.
Awesome food and service. Our baby shower event went without a hitch and it was enjoyed by all
it was a nice evening. so loud and noisy that we couldnt have a conversation without yelling
I took my wife here for her birthday and we loved it! From the first moment to the last we were fully enjoying ourselves. Things got better: the bread was to die for, the service was great, the food was delicious!! We loved it! We're definitely going back!
I went with friends to give Bella Sera another try.. The first time, I did not particularly like the marina sauce, sweet with a hint of hot spice. This time, I tried the wild mushroom ragu. The mushroom was OK, how ever I would have preferred something like wide pasta. THe service again, was slow. Both with greeting from the waitress and the food service. There were a number of other staff that came over to check on us, ask for any other beverages, and apologize that the food was coming up shortly. It did not seem like restaurant was fully booked, there were still tables open. THis restaurant is in a very good location in Monrovia Old Town and I had for a better experience.
Best restaurant in Monrovia, from service to food - nothing compares in the SGV.
Our server knew just the right amount of time to spend at the table. She had the perfect touch of taking care of us without being over attentive. The food was good and the ambiance excellent. The evening was perfect!
The scallops were huge. The recommended short rib pasta was just ok
My wife and I had been to Bella Sera only once before a week earlier. We enjoyed it so much we came back and brought two friends with us. It was great again. We ate on the patio and had another super meal. The service was attentive, but not intrusive. Their $10.00 corkage fee when you bring your own wine is fair. All in all a very nice meal.....We'll be back.
The meal was fresh + delicious! We shared a meal, clams & linguini (home made pasta),caprese salad, warm bread with herb butter, creme brulee & cappucinos for desert. One of the best meals this foodie has ever enjoyed!
Everything was lovely other than the loud music. Great food, good service.
I was really impressed with the menu!
Consistent level of service, excellent variety of food selection that taste great.
We came the night before Mother's day, it was packed, but they seated us quickly with our reservation.
We has the Mushroom Ragu with Polenta, Pesto Gnocchi with Chicken, and the special Rib eye steak.
All were prepared nicely, though not "fussy". The stuffed dates appetizer was wonderful.
If you want tasty, though not fancy Italian food, this is the place to go !
This was my first time going to Bella Sera and it was delicious. Not only was the food great but it was a beautiful restaurant with a friendly staff. I ordered the short ribs over polenta and I'm not sure how I will go back and try something new because it was that good. Looking forward to returning for a romantic date night on the patio with my husband.
Excellent menu - staff and servers are very attentive - great place for lunch or dinner.
I was looking for a good Italian food place nearby that would not be overly expensive and it was a great surprise to find one. Everything we ordered in our group we were happy with.
Loved the meatballs!!!
We were looking for a new place to try and met for brunch on a Saturday. They offer a brunch menu on weekends that feature breakfast, lunch, pizzas that were varied. I ordered Lobster crepes that were full of lobster and also had a side salad that was perfect for a light lunch. Other people in our party had crab eggs Benedict which she enjoyed except it was a little salty and the third person ordered pancakes with Ricotta cheese that she enjoyed. Overall we enjoyed our meal and will return to try something different.
the Shrimp Diablo was great! the Creamy Pesto Gnocchi was sublime! the white wine sangria was first rate too. The only negative is the relative nose level. Quite loud. Other than that e enjoyed it immensely!
You must try the kale salad with salmon! I'm a foodie and very picky about my kale. This was soooo yummy!!! Sit outside on the back patio.
Our server lacked FRIENDLINESS and did not stop by to ask how we were doing our refill our drinks. Will not be coming back.
We had lunch here valentine's day & it was for me one of the best. Excellent! Keep it up!
Monrovia finally have a five star restaurant!
Bella Sera has been redecorated, and is less pleasant than formerly. It is loud... with music playing loudly and everyone trying to shout over the music.
The wine choices are good, but the food is ordinary.
Service is slow, but nice.
A friend and I had a birthday lunch here in January. It was our first time to eat here. While the special menu for Dine LA was appealing, neither of us ordered from it. I ordered the Caprese Salad with the addition of shrimp (turned out to be 4 shrimp on a separate plate), while my friend had one of the home-made pasta dishes. When I made the reservation I had indicated that it was a birthday lunch, but there was no recognition of this except from the hostess when she seated us. We were glad that the weather allowed us to eat outdoors on their rear patio as the noise level was too high for us for conversation inside. Even outside the "music" was too loud for us. There were not many occupied tables on this Wednesday so we thought it could have been turned down when we mentioned the reason why we did not want to eat inside. The server was attentive. While the food was good, I would go back to Celestino's in Pasadena for Italian cuisine instead of returning here because of the noise level.
We were very impressed with our entire experience. From the minute we walked in we were met with a really great attitude and wonderful service and it just kept getting better as the night went on. Our server was outstanding. My husband made an effort to let the manager know how wonderful everything was. They definitely have new customers.
Live in Pasadena but sometimes want to get away from the business of Old Town. Found this as an option on Dine LA. We did discover that Monrovia has a street fair every Friday. So much for avoiding the crowds. Plan accordingly as parking is tight if you go on a Friday evening. We arrived 20 minutes late for our reservation but the hostess was very gracious and said they completely understand due to the street fair. We had the bacon wrapped dates, Caprese salad, Cesar salad, short rib pasta ragu and Shrimp Diablo. Everything was amazing. Dates were delicate with the perfect mix of sweet and salty. Caprese was made with heirloom tomatoes and a wonderful drizzle of balsamic. I prefer a little more basil but it was still wonderful. The short rib ragu was amazing. Super tender meat, and a lot of it with homemade pasta! Shrimp Diablo was nice and spicy with a very nice quantity of shrimp. My only issue is it had bell peppers. Desert was the only 'meh'. Cheesecake which hubby said was 'ok' and a choco cake which I felt was not worth the additional cardio I will have to do the next day. LOL
Service was GREAT! You can tell everyone takes pride in working there and making for a great customer experience. Our server even apologized as they brought our main course out before we finished our salads.
Lastly, we did order wine, and the pour was a generous one!
We will be back.
An easy to navigate menu offering something for light or full meals. Service was very good with an abundance of staff. A small a patio in the front and a large patio in the back would make it easy to enjoy a summer evening. With the right seat, you can watch meals prepared in the open grill area. This was our first time and enjoyed shrimp diablo and chicken parmsean. The later was a wonderfully large portion.
When Dina LA Comes in January, we look forward to going to Bella Sera for their delicious lunch. At a cost of $15.00, you get the best quality Italian food for the money. The reason this place is special, is that you get great entrees, but also dessert! Many of the restaurants don't provide a sweet end for their Dine LA menu, but Bella Sera holds nothing back. Because I'm a light diner, I usually eat only half my lunch and have enough for a light dinner this week.
The staff at this restaurant are always nice and really make a difference to me. The food is equally up to par for this restaurant, as it offers large portions and provides all the atmosphere of a fine Italian restaurant.
This restaurant has the best offering for the Dine LA Program is reasonably priced. Their bread and butter is made fresh daily and the pastas are always perfect.
I have been to Bella Serra a few times; every visit is better than the previous one! This time I went with a friend for Dine LA. What a great meal for $30! No skimping on portions here. And my leftovers were fabulous. It was quite crowded by 7pm so I would make a reservation. My favorite area is the patio which has a nice atmosphere with cute twinkle lights and heaters if needed.
Excellent service at the bar and table. Wonderful suggestions from the bartender. Dinner was amazing..short rib ragu and linguine & clams were an abosolute hit.
Still an amazing place to dine. In the heart of Old Town Monrovia, and next door they are soon opening a Bottega. Can't wait!
