Bella Saratoga Ratings and Reviews
I made a reservation at this eatery for a Sunday brunch online and the website did not disclose that there were no Sunday hours prior to 5 pm. Wanted to try it out wasn't able to. The Wolf restaurant was very good though and right up the street, as was Dukes bar and grill. Stopped in at both good chicken wings, service, and entrees. i had heard good things about bellas was disappointed that the website did not have the correct information.
Got there early, but somehow managed not to get good service even before they got busy.
My husband ordered a 2nd beer which never came... finally our server realized and delivered the long awaited beer, but when the bill came, we were charged for 3 beers!!
Everyone around us was being offered a bread basket, but we were skipped until I pointed it out to our server. We told him it was too late to bring one, but about 3 minutes later the bus boy slammed down the bread basket in front of us...
Food was just ok. Salmon was farmed and tasty slightly "fishy" so not great value for money. Husband liked his dish though.
Won't rush back here... it's probably really nice in the summer when it's warm out as most of the seating is outside, but there are too many great Italian restaurants for me to rush back here...
Five art friends had dinner together around 6:30 p.m. after viewing an artists' reception down the street. Our waiter was cordial and efficient albeit our bread came just before our main entrees. Our wines were delicious as was our meals; the salmon, saltimbocca, and steak entrees were excellent. The restaurant was quiet for conversation but it was early on a Saturday night and I would imagine the restaurant could get exceptionally loud ("energetic") when filled with customers - there is nothing to cushion the sound bouncing off the walls. Gone are the days with carpeting in restaurants that would muffle the sound of conversations. We will return.
We came to Bella Saratoga for my birthday last Friday since the last time I was there in 2014 I was amazed by their homemade linguine and clams. We arrived 15 min earlier than our reservation and were seated upstairs by ourselves. It seemed cozy, but we may have been seated there due to our two boys, ages 5 and 8. I had my reservations regarding taking them, but it was a family event. As it was, the room filled up quickly, with a neighboring table with a couple noisy girls along with their tolerant parents. We ordered the appetizers and entrees quickly, but although the appetizers came in a timely manner, our entrees did not. My linguine with clams was cold and the noodles dry, not like the amazing one I had last time. My husband did enjoy the tuna special, although also cold. The table with more people next to us was served their entrees faster and then given the bill faster. We had to wait longer for service, then ordered coffee, and the bill arrived before we even had our coffee. It was very strange to get the bill, with the coffees charged, without even receiving them yet. We payed, received our coffee after, and then our server never even acknowledged my birthday.
Since I went out of my way to go to this restaurant in Satatoga on and for my birthday, I was thoroughly disappointed.
I will not spend my time going there or my money on Bella Saratoga again.
We dine at Bella Saratoga often. The service is always good, the food is very good and
the decor and atmosphere is outstanding. The men who operate this delightful place
were quite nice this time, as always. They do have a nice wine list and handle the wine
service with aplomb.
To be fair, we never really ate here. We tried. We wanted to have brunch with some friends in Saratoga and our hotel recommended this place. We made a reservation for 11AM and showed up at 10:55. The place was closed and we were told to return later. We went down the street for coffee and sat for a few moments... at which point someone from Bella Saratoga called us to say we were "late for our reservation". We strolled back, only to be told the same thing by the gentleman who greeted us (who was, incidentally, the same gentleman who had told us 15 minutes earlier that they weren't open yet). There was nobody else in the restaurant, so I found it a bit surprising that being "late" for our reservation was such a big deal. Anyway, we were seated at a lovely table outside and then told that they did NOT have a brunch menu, only lunch. SIGH.
Then the fun with the menu began. Two of us ordered mimosas. Two glasses of champagne showed up with some orange in the bottom... .they were out of orange juice. Okay. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich. They were out of chicken salad. My husband ordered soup... guess what? The soup wasn't ready yet.
By this time I was well and truly fed up. We told the gentleman that we really wanted breakfast, thanks so much we would go in search of it.... and a bill for the 2 "mimosas" and the one cold coffee showed up.
Perhaps it's a great restaurant. I'll never find out.
We had a great time dining at Bella Saratoga. We shared their lasagna and grilled salmon entrees and both were wonderful. The restaurant is in a restored older home in the middle of old town Saratoga and offers inside and outside dining. We loved everything about our experience from the pleasant staff to the delicious meals.
Menu had a large selection of food. We ordered chicken and prawns(which only came with two prawns) and pork chops(on the dry side) Food was okay, not a lot of flavor. Would order something different if I return. Service was slow but we were there on a busy Saturday night. Restaurant is located in beautiful downtown Saratoga.
The service was so incredibly poor that it ruined our celebratory mood. We were seated upstairs, which seemed to be sort of forgotten space. We had to request that our water be refilled several times (granted we were there for two hours), request utensils and waited over an hour for our food to arrive after our appetizers even though we ordered our drinks, appetizers and entrees at the onset of the evening. The waiter was not apologetic but rather defensive. When I said the wait had been too long. He said, "You got caught between two large parties. Just the nature of the business." As a business owner myself, I would know how to plan for these scenarios and never dismiss my customer's concerns.
Had lunch with friends, purposefully late, on a rainy weekday. Service and food excellent, especially desserts! We were there almost two hours and never felt rushed, as with many restaurants in the U.S., which I really appreciated. My first time here, very charming with wonderful outdoor dining possibilities on a nice sunny day. I will definitely return.
We loved this place! Went for a meal before a show at Villa Montalvo which is less than 10 minutes away. Bartender made me a fantastic pomegranate mojito (not on menu) with fresh pomegranate seeds--delicious. The shrimp, scallop, and mushroom pasta was fantastic, a light cream sauce. Will definitely return when next in or near Saratoga.
This was my second time going to Bella Saratoga. The first time the service was awesome and the food outstanding. This time the service was slow and my food was good (not great). My husband however loved his ravioli. We will definitely go back, but not before a show again when we don't have time to linger.
Ate a lunch at Bella Saratoga a month ago and had a wonderful dining experience. Decided to go back for New Year's dinner. A very different experience. The service was very slow (it was crowded) and the food quality was spotty. Two of us had the halibut which we both thought was "very" dry. The salad I had wasn't nearly as fresh as the one I had for lunch and the calamari appetizer was lacking. My wife did enjoy her pasta dinner. All of us felt it was a disappointing mediocre dining experience at best.
Had some people visit from overseas and wanted a special new years eve dinner. It was a cold evening and the seating was outside covered with heaters . Our table was so cold that when the food came it became cold within minutes. Complained but was told - well we are very busy... Told them this was a disaster and the entire evening as spoiled with too cold seating a too cold food. Was told after the dinner we can move you and give you free desserts. The food was spoiled we were cold and they offered us free dessert. What a joke! I have been to many "nice" restaurants and even if the service was bad they always offered something special. Bella did not...
How was the food? Well difficult to tell as it was to cold! Any restaurant with this type of customer focus I would not recommend even to my enemies... Stay away!
I have long been a fan of Bella Saratoga since living in Saratoga. It never disappoints. Took a friend to the restaurant on Xmas Eve and he could not stop raving about the food, bread, meal.
Thanks Bella Saratoga for maintaining such consistent quality food. Nice service as well.
We had our traditional Christmas Eve dinner at Bella Saratoga for the first time. We were seated promptly in the dining room which is the old front room of a very old Victorian house. Our table was the reason for the 3 stars on Ambience the tables were packed VERY close to each other. And, of course, there were a couple of large gentlemen seated next to us at a table for four with their backs to us. We had a fairly strong feeling that our personal space was being encroached upon. Fortunately they were just finishing their dinner so we didn't have that feeling for long. We had a good waiter who was prompt and got our wine while we finished deciding on what to eat. I ordered the Carrot Soup and Veal Picata. My wife ordered Buffalo Salad that had Arugula, Buffalo Mozzarella Cheese, and other condiments and for the main course a Pasta Dish with Shrimp, Scallops, Mushrooms and a White Sauce. All dishes were excellently prepared with just the right seasoning. No room for dessert. We both agreed we would return her often and again next Christmas Eve.
