All of the staff from Hostess, table waiters and bartender were outstanding! The poached eggs for all their "benedict" dishes were cooked perfectly, not too runny and not too hard - and everyone's meal was delicious. Just the right portion too.
Great food, cozy atmosphere.... and our OUTSTANDING server... Johnny!!! He knows what we want before we ask for it! Thank you, Johnny... you ROCK!!!
Was seated right away but took about 15 minutes to get service and we were the only ones there.
A good middle of the road Italian restaurant, that is on a sunny day nice to sitting outdoors. The Veal Piccata was well executed. Noticeable the veal was cooked to a soft tenderness. The mashed potato was lacking flavor.
The Risotto Porcini was a little bland.
We dined at Bella Saratoga for Easter lunch, and chose to eat outdoors this time. Gently shaded so very nice. All the employees are very nice. Food (lasagna and a Hollandaise of some sort) was a bit “under-flavored” for my taste, but I don’t remember that from previous experiences here. Easter menu was a bit pricey ($22 for lasagna???) ( total bill = $76 with dessert, 2 glasses of wine and tax) but the ambiance is what you’re paying for, here. A very pleasant dining experience if you can afford it.
Spent Easter brunch dining on the porch.
Weather and ambiance was perfect!! We will return soon.
Lovely spot to have an outdoor lunch with friends. Good lunch/brunch menu. Attentive service, street noise not too bad.
Really good food and service, 10/10.
Food was very good. Service was not as good. We had to wait some time for our order to be taken and a long time for the check. They didn’t seem that busy. Maybe next time the service will be better...
Disappointing. Arrived on time for a reservation for four and a they had no tables available in a more than half empty restaurant. Only one small high top with two chairs available in the bar and bar seating apparently is reserved. They convinced us to sit outside and set up a table for this purpose which turned out to be OK because of the heaters but we had to ask them to seat us after the table sat there for 15 minutes set up. The food ranged from OK to terrible. Fried calamari and crabcake appetizers were OK but the Caesar salad was unremarkable. We had to wait a long time for our entrées for some reason that was not explained. A table that arrive well after us was ready to leave before our entrées showed up. My cioppino was delicious but unusual in that it was more like a seafood bisque. The Palermo style ribeye steak special was disgusting. I’ve never tasted such flavorless beef topped with raw garlic. The chicken salitmbucca was also terrible. Finally the Pasta Blanca with shrimp and scallops was pretty good. To end the dinner we shared a piece of tiramisu that was nice but two of our four cappuccinos showed up with lemon juice in them. Could have been a funny mistake but we were not in a laughing mood after crummy service and mostly just disappointing food.
I chose Bella Saratoga because of it's location near our hotel and for the menu. The service at all levels was excellent and we were able to enjoy our conversation. The food was fresh and served immediately after it was prepared. Staff responded quickly to a request to have my fish entrée cooked a little more, which is just my preference. Next time, I look forward to eating outside for lunch.
Nice bar for Martinis and the fish is fresh. We will be doing back for Sunday Brunch, I like the live music on the patio.
It was a good evening even though the waiter spilled soup down my arm.
Food quality was fair, service was fair, overall fair. Second time we have eaten at the restaurant and likely not to return based on food quality, portions and service.
Beautifully restored old house.
Was a little disappointed in the salmon I had. Was very dry!!
Veggies - ( not al dente!) just rather warm and almost raw
Bread served was delicious👌🏼
Mushroom appetizer was wonderful!!
We should have stopped at drinks, apps and bread!🤔
The food was very good and the service excellent, but it was absolutely freezing in there at noon. They finally did turn on the heat, but it never came to a comfortable temperature. (This was during our cold spell when they should have known in advance of their service that it was going to be cold.) I have been to the restaurant in the past, and I remember it being cold then, too. I would only recommend this restaurant during the summer months.
We've been coming to Bella Saratoga for a long time, and it never disappoints, from the friendly server, great specials, broad wine list, and the yummy warm bread and spread. You can sit outside under the heat lamps with the romantic acoustic guitarist playing live, or indoors in the cozy Victorian 2-story dining areas. Prices are reasonable, especially compared to the neighboring $$ Saratoga eateries. Bella Saratoga has always delivered. It's my wife's favorite local restaurant, easy to get reservations still. We had the special fish and the special pasta dishes, both were excellent. Will come back again and again.
Good food and the scheduling conflict was solved. Great meal and we’ll be back.
Rather overbooked on 2/14 and we had a long week
But staff and owner were great
We've been coming here for years and this is the first time we've been disappointed. It has been our "go to" place for special occasions.
Granted, it was Valentines Day, but the service was slow, at best, e.g., seconds on bread never arrived, our server didn't check if we need anything, etc. A place as nice (and as expensive) as this needs to gear up for the expected crowd, most of whom made reservations, I'm sure. And how do you run out of the fish special by 6:30 pm? Overall, the food was good (as opposed to it normally being great) but the service was poor (as opposed to it normally being excellent).
Since we've come here for so many years, we'll give it another try, but if this happens again, we'll find another "go to" place.
Great tasting food, excellent service, wonderful ambiance
Was there for a romantic experience with my lady and not the least disappointed. The wait service was prompt, attentive and friendly. No pretentiousness at all. We have been to this restaurant on numerous occasions and never been anything but satisfied. Highly recommend it!
Great! Server was attentive even under very busy conditions?
We had a problem when we arrived at the restaurant. When we arrived for our Valentine’s dinner...we arrived 10 minutes before our reservation. The hostess told us that we were not on the list & we did not have reservations. I explained that the reservation had been made on Open Table. She said we were not on the list “sorry”. My husband was not happy. Then she asked when the reservation was made? I explained it was Open Table in the morning. She then admitted her list was finalized the night before....so too bad. We don’t have a table. My husband was furious by this time so I told him we could go elsewhere. As we turned the corner from the restaurant my husband was still saying this isn’t right on Valentine’s day. So we went back & Showed the hostess the confirmation email from Open Table. She still said “sorry”. We asked to speak to the manager. They finally got us a table after arguing with the hostesses. They were two young girls. The food was great and saved the evening. This makes us reluctant to use Open Table if a restaurant did not want to honor the reservation.
Excellent server delicious food, just a magnificent experience
I asked for lamb chops and was told by Morgan the waitress that since I came early it might be possible. She returned about ten minutes later and said it was not on the menu and I could not get it. I was disappointed that I was mislead about getting what I asked for. I did enjoy the ambience of the restaurant.
In November of last year I crafted a written review that was critical of a few things which were all related to service. I stated that we enjoy our dining experiences there and will continue to do so.
This time we both commented that we did not experience any of the previous issues.
The food was excellent, and the service was above average (not great).
We will return.
We were greeted by Saratoga locals just passing by to say hello to the owner. Love the neighborhood ambience yet a unique spot for dining.
Our favorite is the shrimp appetizer. So tasty and fresh!
Our dinner was served at a relaxed pace, yet the bill was delivered when requested since we were due at an event.
Thanks again for a fantastic meal!
The ambiance was superior, the staff was professional, friendly, attentive, courteous. Food was absolutely delicious (Italian, continental, etc). Excellent dining experience. My favorite restaurant without a doubt. Bella Saratoga is “the best” for food, staff, atmosphere, availability & pure enjoyment.
Salads are great!! All three of us had a different type and enjoyed them a lot. It was a warm day and we ate outside. Service was very friendly and attentive. Thumbs up!
Service was horrible. Waiter seemed more interested in talking to the other waiters than waiting on his table. I mentioned in the open table app that we were celebrating a birthday and mentioned it to the waiter. All requests were ignored. The
We booked a table here in advance of an event at Villa Montalvo. The old house is a charming venue. The food was excellent and the wine list extensive with a great variety of California and Italian offerings at numerous price points. We will go there again when we have something in the Saratoga area.
We thought the meal was pretty average. Service was good overall very nice waiter. The place has so much potential but nothing impressive at all.
Food always great, quaint historic spot in Saratoga with a friendly wait staff!
Came for an anniversary dinner. Service was very nice and attentive and food was amazing. Dinner menu is a lot better than the brunch menu.
We went here for New Year's Eve and were quiet impressed with the food and venue.
The food here is extremely overpriced. Brunch dishes are in the $17-$21 range with mostly eggs and pastas, very expensive especially when the quality is so low. My Eggs Saratoga, highly recommended by our waiter as one of the two egg dishes on the menu, was overcooked, with the Canadian bacon dried, the eggs seemed like they had been sitting around wait too long as the runny egg yolks seemed quite dense instead of oozing out when cut into, the toasted croissant was rubbery, and the fried cube potatoes so tough and dried and had no warmth at all. Yet, the dish cost $18, which was an outrageous price for an egg dish, compared to the much more reasonably priced offering just a couple of blocks down at La Me`re Michelle. Also, servers constantly removed plates of people in our party who finished eating faster than some of us, which was quite unacceptable in fine dining service. If Bella Saratoga aspires to charge exorbitant prices for its mediocre food, then it must educate servers never to remove plates from the table until after everyone has finished eating.
Wine was tasty and staff was nice and helpful. However the food was plain and average.
No need to confirm reservation. They were not busy. I did not find the food that good. Could be premade. Not fresh. Ive eaten here for over 20 years. Gotten very pricey for not so great food. But cloth napkins and table cloths were welcome. Old world ambience and outdoor dining available in sunny Ca. One of the few left where one can eat outdoors.
This was our 2nd Christmas Eve dinner at Bella Saratoga. We chose an early dinner (5PM) since the restaurant really packs in tables to get maximum business. We had no problem finding a parking space. Lots of room at that time. Wine list was medium long. The Zinfindel we chose was was excellent for the amount paid. Little bread triangles with an excellent butter cheese spread was a good beginning. I had the carrot puree soup and my wife the house salad. Service was almost too quick. My main course was boneless spare ribs which seemed more like pot roast. No need for a knife. The meat could easily be cut with a fork, The sauce and the orzo was the best part of the meal. Baby brussel sprouts were cooked just right. My wife had a bone in rib eye steak that was cooked just right. By the time we left, the restaurant had filled up and felt a but cramped. We will be back next year.
