Bella On The River Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I have eaten here before so we decided to take our friends while they visited from out-of-town. We wanted to take them there because of the ambiance and attentive staff. We were impressed with the cave-like setting and the food is really good. The meal was just as fabulous this time as last, from the wine to the appetizers to the dinner. Our waiter Patrick was great. He was attentive without being too much. He helped us with our wine pairing and the food came at a nice pace. Everything was fresh, delicious and perfect. We ordered the signature Eggplant Josephine and meat/cheese plate for appetizers which were just as I had remembered them. For dinner I had the rabbit saddle which was divine. The wine pairings were spot-on. And I loved that they let us linger a bit longer than we normally would since we were visiting with dear friends. I will definitely come back to this neighborhood gem.
Had a wonderful time at Bella on the River. The paella was fantastic, and the restaurant was very small, warm, cozy and with a very friendly staff. I'd recommend Bella's to anyone looking for great food, in a great location on the Riverwalk, for a wonderful evening.
I had read such great reviews about this place, and by the time I arrived, I was famished. But the meal was uninspired ... downright bland. The waiter did a great job, but it couldn't make up for my disappointment when each course arrived. It was not worth the money we spent.
Loved dining here, the food, the bistro table on the river, the attentive wait staff, the great recommendations. It was a great dining experience. The weather was perfect for dining out but the indoor bar and restaurant was full of ambiance. I had delicious red fish and my husband had filet mignonette. Both were great and wait staff helped us pair with great wines. Thanks for a lovely evening!
Everything was nice, particularly the interesting small stone space. The food was very good as was the service. The only downside was the obscure location on the Riverwalk. We are from San Antonio and it took us 30 minutes of wandering around on the river to find the restaurant.
We went to Bella based on other reviews and the restaurant lived up to its reputation. The restaurant is cozy and warm, but you don't feel like you are sitting on top of other people. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. They made a great recommendation on a wine that wasn't a huge up sell. We had the paella (their signature dish) which was as good as any that I have had in Spain, as well as a couple of appetizers that also were terrific. I would definitely go again
Excellent unique restaurant on the river walk! Atmosphere was intimate. Overall food and service were great, but I was disappointed with the seafood Paella. I was looking forward to it for weeks. Mussels and claims were tiny. It was mostly rice with very little seafood.
My husband and I went here for a rather upscale date night. It’s the perfect restaurant to go to if you’re looking to get dressed up for a romantic dinner. Inside, it was lively, with lots of chatter from the people around us, and yet it was also still intimate. Dimmed lighting, small, intimate dining tables - truly a perfect date spot. I would have to leave a whole other review to adequately describe the food. It was outstanding. My husband had one of the steaks, and I had the chicken mattone; both of us had crab on the side. We were also served bread with garlic/oil to dip it in. All of the food was phenomenal. Upon our arrival at the restaurant, the owner/manager greeted us personally. He was extremely warm and friendly. I told him the name on our reservation, and he said he’d recognized it; he had our table set and ready. On a scale of 1-5 for priciness, 1 being cheapest and 5 being most expensive, I would probably give it a 3; the pricing wasn’t bad at all and was completely worth every penny. Everything about this place was amazing. Highly, highly recommend.
This is my husband and I's second time dining here. The first time was 2 years ago and the food, ambience and service left such a great, dare I say.. taste in our mouths that we vowed to return. Upon our return, 2 years later we were not disappointed! Very romantic, cozy atmosphere with fabulous wine to start our meal. Our server was very knowledgeable and very hospitable, he recommended the sirloin with potato croquets, it was fantastic! My husband and I left very full and very, very happy. Thanks again to the chefs and staff at Bella on the River, we will be back!
Fantastic food and fantastic service. Our server was probably one of the best servers I have ever experienced during my visit to any restaurant. Food was executed well and atmosphere of the restaurant is fantastic. A little noisy when you get the crowd in that small or space. But that is a very small drawback!
David was very attentive and polite. We sat by the river walk rather than inside because it was a bit loud. It may have been the party there, but outside was quaint and a wonderful experience.
We started with the eggplant appetizer and added crab. Delicious. Next we had a salad with blue cheese and a light lemon dressing. Our main course was a steak and open faced ravioli filled with lobster and scallops. Wonderful. Finally we tried the white chocolate and fig bread pudding. Outstanding.
Excellent food but smaller than standard portions. Staff is a bit particular. Paying more attention to some tables than others but certainly not rude. They could have made each of the guests in the small dining room feel extra special but they chose to focus on just select tables.
Bella on the River is a great restaurant hands down. Food is very good, service was spot on. Prices were as expected and nice wine list. I would recommend Bella to any and every one. The atmosphere definitely feels like a little step back in time in Europe. A nice change from the mega, open and loud restaurant of today.
Service was exceptional! Very small intimate restaurant. We had a problem with my dish and they graciously removed it from the bill. Would I go back? Not sure, because of the price. I have eaten at a lot of fine dining restaurants around the country and the price point of Bella is not on the mark. We wish them the best. It is a lovely little spot on The Riverwalk.
