Bella Monte Ratings and Reviews
We were looking for a quick dinner with friends. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. My husband browsed in their wine section and bought two bottles.....one to drink with dinner and one to take home. There were four of us and everyone was very pleased with the presentation and taste of their dinner. My husband and I would like to go back to experience the wine tasting in the wine room.
This place good be good but it's not. Waitress could not even remember the specials and knew nothing about the menu. Poorly trained staff with less than medico food. Another place in Ba. beach that looks good , sounds good but not good. Will this town ever get it???
Food was delicious, limited menu , but top quality ingredients. Understated elegance. Our waitress was friendly, but a bit disorganized. For this caliber of restaurant, I don't expect the waitress to ask of we were using our parmesan to provide to another table. Also, when the wine was poured, it spilled all over the table. It was a bit intrusive, all in all. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable dining experience and would go back again. Would suggest that the wait staff be trained to be as understated and elegant as the atmosphere itself.
The waitress was terrible. She was rude, not friendly at all, and seemed to have an attitude all night. Was not inviting at all and we actually complained to the owner. Not sure of her name, but she has gauges in her ears and a huge resting b*** face. Beware.
The first thing that caught my attention was the menu; great Italian dishes at reasonable prices. When I arrived, I didn't expect by the looks of the outside of the restaurant, that I would be impressed. However, it has a unique, authentic feel inside - incredibly well decorated and welcoming. This was my first time going and I'll definitely be back. The food was very authentic and just different enough from other "typical Italian" food to make it a great find in a town with many Italian restaurants. I highly recommend it. We had the calamari (wonderfully cooked with extra lemons for squeezing), the caprese salad (excellent addition of pesto sauce, fresh tomatoes and soft, delicious mozzarella that paired perfectly and the linguine with clams which was authentic and delicious. The only corrective thought I would offer would be to educate the wait staff more on your wine selection. Our waitress was not overly helpful and not at all excited about working there, it was more of just a job to her. With the lovely food and atmosphere you offer, the wait staff should look to make it a holistic experience by delighting the customer - that didn't happen. Despite that, I think for the food and atmosphere, I'll likely be back.
We dined at Bella Monte during a business convention in VA Beach. The menu was great and the ambiance was also great. The piano was not too loud as some have suggested. Just right.
I loved the fact that they had a wine selection that I could peruse before I sat down.
The food was very good and we loved our server - she was great.
Had the lamb shank and seafood pasta. Both were very good.
Would recommend for sure.
Everything we ate was fabulous, the server was delightful, but the noise level was over the top! Had we known there would be a live pianist (on a Wednesday night?), we might have taken our guests elsewhere. Combined with the noise of many diners trying to talk over the piano, it was nearly impossible to hear across the table, and really ruined an otherwise gustatorial delight! Am I the only one in VB who wants a quiet place to take my guests?
We visited for lunch during restaurant week. We started out with the fried olives with Gorgonzola dip. I did not prefer the taste of the strong flavored green olives which were lightly battered and had a cumin seasoning. We also ordered the lunch special which was lobster salad on grilled bread half and a fried egg on top. Served with a arugula salad with picked onion. The lobster salad had not much lobster taste due to way too much mayo and tiny pieces of lobster! But the egg and grilled toast was good. It would have been a better lunch if our server was more attentive. The dining room was not too full but we had to wait for at least 15 minutes before our server took our order and we had to ask for silverware, and she then brought our check before asking if we wanted dessert; which we ordered to take home. Again, we had to remind her for our check. I think if they had more servers that day , our experience would have been different. But otherwise, we will be back, because we have enjoyed our experiences before, maybe we went on a bad day.
Newly redone, food good but loud. If a bar scene and good food is what you're looking for. We wished afterward that we had asked to sit away from the bar. Food and service was very good, nice wine selection. Wine store and Italian restaurant with piano just didn't seem to mesh with loud bar scene.
