Bella Luna was our go to restaurant before Riverbend concerts and just for a good Italian dinner. Will really miss it! Eclectic atmosphere, good music, great menu- are they giving away the pork shank recipe??? Best of luck to Harry and Gay in Florida. Definitely Florida's gain and Cincinnati's loss. Hoping another great restaurant fills the space- time for Terry's to expand?
My wife and I were fortunate to share dinner together here before the place closed down. I hadn't been in many years, and my wife had never been. It was a special experience to share fine cocktails and fine Italian food, while a live jazz band played next to the bar in the other room. The lobster & crab ravioli was fantastic, as was the prime rib cannelloni. For dessert, the legendary bread pudding was just that, legendary. We also tried the tiramisu, which was also great. We will miss this restaurant, and wish the owners great success in their future endeavors.
We will miss you! Thanks for the memories!
Love this restaurant! It will be missed!
This review really won't matter due to the fact that they are closing for good in two days. However, they have lowered their quality of food, service, customer priorities way too low to continue to charge their high prices. One of the complaints was that our reservations were for 5 p.m. & we finally left the restaurant at 8 p.m. Either lower the prices or keep the rest of the standards up. Terrible experience...terrible food...spent way too much for an evening of disappointments.
I'm sad to see Bella Luna go because it is the best bread pudding in town. But that's pretty much where it ends. I had the lobster and crab ravioli and the filling tasted like breading and mush with no discernable pieces of seafood. Service was really slow. The bread pudding was great as usual though.
So glad we went back one more time before they close - we all had a great time and a superb meal
Excellent as always! They will be sorely missed in Cincinnati!
Great food and atmosphere. Will miss this restaurant. Our favorite Italian Restaurant in Cincinnati.
What is there to say, great food, great atmosphere, great prices. Unfortunately they are retiring and closing the business. They will be missed!!!
Not it's usual fine experience. Overbooked and crowded. Not want we wanted for our anniversary especially after a long drive.
We wanted one last dinner at Bella Luna before it closed. We will miss this special restaurant.
Long wait but worth it for one last meal before they close!
We had a variety of dishes (lasagna, cannelloni, ravioli) and they were all great, fresh and cheesy with sauces full of flavor. We ended up taking dessert home which was good but probably better at the restaurant. We will miss it!
Just spectacular - so sorry to see them go - Harry deserves to ride off into the sunset
Food was really good. Got a bottle of wine on special. The owner was very personable and waitress was great. Too bad they are closing at the end of the month. Owner is retiring.
I will miss Bella Luna - it's a great place and it will be sad to see it close at the end of this year!
As usual, dinner was amazing. We are so sad to see this wonderful restaurant close. However, we wish Harry good luck in his new adventures in life.
If you can still get in before they close forever, go and get the bread pudding. And if you can't get in, they're selling trays of the bread pudding.
Disappointed in our experience, but the place closes for good on Jan 1st 2017, so it's not likely we'd be back anyway. For the most part the food was good, but my husband was disappointed in the lobster ravioli. I tried his dish and had to agree that it was pretty bland. The mussels in white wine and short rib cannolino were really good! The bread pudding was one of the best I've had. The service was subpar at best. Our waitress took a long time to greet us and we had to ask to have our order taken (after we were done with our appetizer). Our bread for our mussels didn't come out with the meal, so we were left waiting 10-15 minutes for part of our appetizer. We paid $10 for two weak Italian sodas where the waitress wasn't even sure what flavors they had and got one glass of water for our whole meal (and I drink a looot of water). I approached the manager midway through our meal to share our experience thus far, and she said she'd talk to our waitress but I was paying close attention and nothing was done. The owner stopped by our table in the beginning of the meal and he seemed very sweet. I only wish I could say the rest of our experience was good.
We had such an amazing time. We will be sorry to see Bella Luna close.
Wonderful locally owned Italian restaurant - delicious food and great service. When we learned it was closing at the end of the year (owner retiring), we knew we had to go one more time. We have celebrated many special occasions there so this one was for the restaurant! We wish the owner the best! We hope to enjoy the restaurant's fabulous bread pudding somehow again!
Best Italian restaurant in Cincinnati!! It combines great food, great wine, great service, warm atmosphere, and personal touch always from Harry. So sad it is closing. Harry always makes his guests fell so welcome, and just like a part of his family. When I eat there, it is like I am at home, with my Italian family.
They're closing 12/31/16 for good! The owner is retiring....so get there while you can!
Food was delicious as always and the service was wonderful. We will really miss this restaurant!
Like so many, I wish we'd come to Bella Luna many more times. Now, sadly, it's closing. The energy, the food, the service combine for a great local experience. The owner, a genuine, no-nonsense guy, greeted us and saw us to a table pretty quickly, given the crowd. I saw him later mixing with guests. He clearly loves the job and wants everyone to have a wonderful time. The staff reflect this attitude. They bend over backwards to please and all with good cheer. I'm sorry he'll close the restaurant rather than sell it, though how could it continue as it is? It's clearly the personal expression of a man who loves the business.
We went because of pleasant memories of dining here & because we heard it was closing. Other than the funky one of a kind character of the place there was nothing on this visit that would have brought us back. Time for the end we think.
The "occasion" was to get to Bella Luna before the end of December! We will miss you Harry - but, we understand that you need to slow down.
The food was wonderful, and always has been. Great value.
Fantastic as always!
Bruschetta was life changing. Our server was very knowledgable And funny. One of the best bourbon old fashioneds I've ever had. Would love to go again before it closes.
Been here a number of times and they never disappoint. Food is outstanding, dessert is outstanding, service is outstanding. Love this place!
As soon as I arrived I knew I had been away too long; without question, one of the best places to have dinner in the Greater Cincinnati area. To many, this place is unknown, but it took me 30 minutes from the Tri-County area; well worth the drive. And while we were at the bar, Owner Harry entertained by singing with the Jazz band. Harry takes a personal interest in every patron; if he knows you, he will stop by; if he does not know you, he will stop by, always making the rounds to make you feel welcome and cared for by all who are there to help.
Our waitress, Sarah, was so incredibly rude. Demanded that people have their wine classes on the table so she could pour and then spilled on the table after pouring. She wrote down an order wrong and then told us that we did order what she wrote down and that's what she heard. Made several rude comments to other waiters about us. And then when she was showing the desserts somone at the table spilled their water glass and made it known it was not her who spilled it. She also said splitting a check would take much longer for her to do. I won't go back to Bella Luna and will not recommend because of the service received.
We love Bella Luna. Have been many times. I was very disappointed as they have changed their bread to focaccia style from the nice hard crusted Italian bread. Personally, I feel the bread is of utmost importance with my Italian meal. I know it may not be that important to some but to get 5 stars in my book it must have the right bread. Everything else was wonderful as usual!

Went back with friends for pizza and wine or beer night (Thursdays and Sundays). Again had an excellent pizza with an excellent antipasta. Started off evening with drinks and excellent "bar bites" during Happy Hour in the bar area. Topped off evening with desserts. We have had and enjoyed their entrees, but had not tried their pizza special. Our server was attentive and pleasant.
Service was great. Laura was our server. Food was good but a bit overpriced. Laid back atmosphere.
Fun place for a nice casual Italian meal! Always love coming to Bella Luna. Friendly staff, good food, fun place.
Excellent food and atmosphere
Service ok
Busy night with dined there
I ordered eggplant parm. The eggplant was good but it was on top of dry noodles. Then I ate one eggplant (not a big eater). My plate was taken away! No mention of a box! Sorry I'm more than willing to pay full price I just can't eat it all! We do not go out often so I'm not going to pick this restaurant for italian!
Bella Luna is a cozy resturant with good italian food. The prices are reasonable. Our bill without tip for 4 people was $165. This included an appetizer, 3 salads 4 entres a bottle of wine and 2 desserts. The bread pudding was to die for. Food is on the rich side. Only complaints is parking is difficult and the appetizer was brought after the salads. A lovely evening all and all.
