We were celebrating our daughters engagement and decided to come here because we love the food and the atmosphere. As always the food was great as well as the service. Highly recommend it!!
Seated promptly, friendly hostess, good food.
Excellent neighborhood Italian restaurant. I had the salmon and it was perfect - silky medium rare. Noise level can get high at prime time, alas.
Went for dinner with another couple, the servioce was top-notch and the food was good. Portions were very large. Good place to run out and grab a meal if your in the mood for good old fashioned pasta. They also offer specials, fish etc...
I really like this place a,lot
They have paid a lot of attention to potential noise level which makes the restaurant much more user-friendly. The staff is friendly, attentive and efficient. I really like the food and we'll come back to try new items
Great local favorite. Food is great and service is very good. Very friendly local spot.
Disappointed. Service was a bit rude and food was mediocre. Pasta was a little bland (it’s putanesca!) and watery.
Our new go to neighborhood find. Good food at reasonable prices for the portion. Service is fast. Satisfactory wine list. Something to please everyone-fish, pizza, and pasta. Salads are fresh and very large. Can easily split. My favorite is the portobello mushroom salad with thin slices of mushroom. The dressing is light and not overpowering. The chicken Parmesan was tasty with enough for two meals. We will definitely be going back.
Overall, our experience was great. We didn’t wait long for our food, the server was very attentive, the food was very tastey and they gave us a complimentary dessert with a candle in it because it was my husband’s birthday.
Wonderful neighborhood local cozy spot. Family friendly as well as good for couples. Extensive pasta menu; also pizzas and meats and fish menu. Great tiramisu!
We have been going to Bella Luna for many years. It is a pleasant looking restaurant and a nice size. I recommend the pasta dishes. They are reasonably priced and generally very good. Portions are also generous. I don’t recommend the fish dishes. Service is generally good, but it depends on the waiter. Last visit, waiter was not attentive at all and restaurant had very few diners since it was early. If you are looking for a nice looking casual restaurant with good pasta dishes, I recommend Bella Luna.
Loved the ambience, service, food. Want to share with chef that my pasta dish was way too salty.
Overall good experience. Was a average-to-low level noise but had an older crowd than I expected for my date and myself. Waiter was a bit impersonal, but fine. Good came out super quick which impressed me. Would go back.
Food was delicious! Service was fast and waiter was very nice! :)
Food, ambiance, and even noise level were very good.
We had no complaints about anything except the service:
We hadn’t even finished our appetizers when they brought our entrees to the table and proceeded to put them down.
In their defense, this was New Year’s Eve. Nevertheless, there is no excuse for rushing patrons through their meals in order to get them out quickly.
Great food and great service. We have been coming here for years and it’s always consistently good.
Very good dinner, nice atmosphere but the temperature in the room was a bit too high.
Bella Luna was an awesome way to end our day in NYCity. My wife, daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambiance of the restaurant, and our waitress was extremely kind and friendly. We will definitely make Bella Luna our Holiday destination when we visit Manhattan during the Christmas season.
For years Bella Luna has been a very welcoming and pleasant neighborhood restaurant. Food is good, not superlative, but that's not what I expect of a casual neighborhood eatery. Prices are reasonable. THAT is good!
The friend we met here said his lamb shank was the best he ever had.
Great spot for good food, excellent shared plates and interesting varieties on the menu. Pastas are fresh, sauces delicious. Lovely Sancerre on the wines by the glass list!
I dine here relatively often, love the food, service and atmosphere where I can arrive dressed up for an occasion or dressed more casually and feel equally comfortable. The noise level is moderate and, depending on where you sit, conversing is easy. This past time, I was especially happy because I made my reservation online and asked for a specific table, which I got! Highly recommend this warm and friendly neighborhood restaurant.
Ordered the prefix pasta dishes. Good portions, parking right on the street a plus!
Always a great evening with family. Nice wines... Staff is great and food is wonderful.
Upscale, casual Italian restaurant on the upper west side. Interesting variety on menu. Delicious entrees. Reasonable pricing. Everyone in our party agreed it was a find! We will return
Always delicious pasta. Served promptly. Always hot and perfectly prepared. Neighborhood favorite.
This time my husband and I were both less than thrilled with our main dishes - which was a change from our previous visits. We were disappointed - and the friend who came with us was lukewarm about his meal as well. We'll give them another try, but if it isn't better we'll cross them off our list. Our particular server seemed surly and indifferent to our requests. Additionally, they turned the lights down to such a low glow that it was much dimmer than it needed to be - and not romantic, just DARK! We asked them to increase the light back to where it had been when we walked in, but they were so grudging in their upward adjustments that we settled for a "dark twilight" level of illumination.
Reliable food, reasonable prices, good service, convenient location. All of this adds up to a restaurant that never disappoints. If you like Italian food, you will be happy you came, whether you order beef carpaccio, any of the pasta dishes, even a pizza. There is a reason this restaurant has been around for a while: it's good!
Cozy Italian restaurant, food was delicious, service was excellent!
Very pleasant, quiet. A respite from the madding crowds lower down on Columbus Ave.
Excellent food, wine and service. It became busy and loud but that is to be expected on a Friday night. I would definitely go again!
A real neighborhood restaurant. Always welcoming Easy, comfortable atmosphere. Very fair prices for reasonably good food and service. Noise level is not punishing. When dining alone or in a hurry, the bar seating is great and efficient.
A very pleasant salad lunch for four older women. Very good portobello mushroom and sautéed chicken with crisp onions salads. Very good bread served with both butter and olive oil. We know the desserts are good but elected to forego them. As requested very hot large cappuccino was a nice way to end the meal.
Went for lunch, very good, not noisy yet busy. So blessed to have a good eating establishment in the neighborhood.
We had a working lunch there. In spite of the huge crowd of students, service was quick and non-intrusive. And food was very tasty.
As usual, food and wine was on point! Unfortunately the server Jorge, I think he is new, as I come often ans never seen him, was not good at all. Unapproachable, took a good 10 minutes after seating us to take order, I could see him in a corner chatting while we waited. Got my order wrong, to his advantage, charged for veal instead of the chicken I ordered, was unapologetic. I love Bella Luna, but I will be sure to request a different server if he is there. Apologies for the bluntness.
Bella Luna is a neighborhood favorite with a relaxed atmosphere--friendly and warm with good service and exceptional value. The customers are of various ages--a good sign of the all-around appeal.
Eating at Bella Luna was an excellent dining experience! The food was delicious and the service was great.
Everything was perfect. Five stars all around!
Ok but nothing special. A neighborhood Italian place. My chicken was a little over cooked but not terrible.
