Bella Italia specializes in authentic Italian cuisine. The restaurant is conveniently located near Olympic National Park in the heart of downtown Port Angeles. Over the last 20 years, Bella Italia has been serving traditional Italian dishes using the freshest local ingredients in the city. It is well-known for its fresh seafood dishes like the Olympic Coast salmon as well as quilleute, halibut, Dungeness crab, mussels and clams.
The menu features much more than seafood, however. Enjoy dishes like espresso smoked duck breast, Tuscan steak and the classic chicken or veal parmigiana. Specialty ingredients at Bella Italia are imported straight from Italy for that old world authentic flavor. Customers love the taggiasca olives from Ritrovo and the Carnaroli rice from Tenuta Castello.
Restaurant did not have reservation, I made it 3 mos ago and they stopped using OpenTable 1 month ago but I received no notification of a problem. In fact, I received a confirmation reminder the day before. The manager was not apologetic or accommodating about the situation, basically said there was nothing they could do and go somewhere else. I go to this restaurant every year before the NODM marathon and was very disappointed with the customer service.
Outside of the hipe that my wife and daughter had about the restaurant it was actually a very good meal. The Chicken Parmigiana paired with the fettuccine alfredo was very flavorful. Add the local wine and it was an excellent meal.
Last time, I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. This time, a large boisterous party distracted the wait staff and must have overloaded the kitchen. My salad was dripping in oil and the prawns were rubbery. I may give the restaurant another chance because it has a good reputation in the community. Maybe it was an off night.
I came to Bella Italia with my brother and sister and my two kids. The service was great! Food was very good and you had great serving sizes. It was a Tuesday night and they place was very busy, can't believe how busy they are on weekends haha! Very lovely place. Will be back next time I'm in Port Angeles! They were also very accommodating to my two year old.... thank god for wifi lol!
Great food and service but the live music was too loud and made it difficult to carry on a conversation!
I was very excited to come here because of Twilight but it was on disappointment after the next.
Went there for anniversary dinner and lucked into a great wine tasting event. Great food and nice atmosphere. Friendly service and some place I'd go again.
The ambiance is beautiful and the wine list is worth the wait. So long as the owner actually acknowledges your presence at all. There were many people waiting just to be spoken to in order to get their names on the wait list and they were all repeatedly ignored by staff and the owner as she flounced haughtily around avoiding eye contact with any of her potential customers. One couple was waiting for an hour from out of state and was repeatedly ignored. Another couple walked in and the owner made warm and welcoming small talk with them and stated she would be sure to take care of them. They were seated 10 minutes later. I went on opentable and made a reservation for 15 minutes out and when the time for my reservation came I told the owner she should seat the couple that had been waiting over an hour and we would take the next available seat. She stated she honors reservations over walk ins. I politely but firmly insisted that she seat them first and not ignore her patrons as it was very rude. She continued to argue against switching out reservation to the nice out of town couple. We exchanged a few more strained comments over pasted on smiles, then myself and my dinner date left and went down a couple blocks to Station 51 Taphouse and dined on some surprisingly delicious hotdogs and refreshing tap beer without all the snobbery and entitled behavior of a snobby business owner. Which, I'm sure Bella Italia may have right to be, but I personally would rather feel invited and pleasant for the money I gladly give to an establishment for a fabulous dining experience than watch someone like her treat people as though they mean nothing to her. Very "fancy" for Port Angelas and an attitude to match. Fabulous fabulous wine list though.
The food and service were outstanding, but definitely call the restaurant directly to verify any reservations in advance. I made my reservations through Open Table two weeks ahead, and arrived to no record of it? The restaurant was packed, and the staff did everything that they could to work us in-was just a bit more laborious than expected and our seating wasn't what I'd anticipated (having eaten there before). Well worth the wait in any case, and kudos to the staff under the circumstances...
What a surprise! In our travels through Port Angeles over several years (via the
Coho ferry), we had never had a memorable meal. Since we planned to stay overnight on February 14th, my husband booked a Valentine's dinner at Bella Italia. From start to finish, we enjoyed our experience there. Creative Valentine elements added to the decor, the service was excellent and the food was superb. We were informed that everything was fresh and made onsite. We have already told several friends about this little gem and we will certainly stop in again sometime in the future. ❣
Fabulous experience, as always! Delicious/healthy menu, excellent wine selection & wonderful service!!! (Bruschetta could be main course, it's THAT GOOD.) Port Angeles is fortunate to have this fine restaurant to enjoy year round!
Our favorite restaurant in Port Angeles. Often stay overnight in Port Angeles to catch the morning ferry to Victoria. And our first choice for dinner is Bella Italia. The menu has choices for all palates, the food is very good to excellent, a nice wine list to complement your dinner choice, and the service is excellent all served in a comfortable, casual atmosphere. Bella's is a popular favorite so recommend reservations. Definitely worth a stop your next time in Port Angeles.
We were visiting Port Angeles and had a wonderful dinner here. Food and service was great.
Angie was our server. She was very friendly and attentive! The food was very good, as well as the wine. This was our first visit, and will not be our last. Thank you!
I had great expectations for this place. They completely messed up my pizza, and had to re-make it.. My correct pizza did not arrive until my husband had finished his.
Food did not impress us. Pizza was burnt. Got a replacement (offered by waitress when she realized) which then was better but still not very tasty.
I made a reservation and still had to wait 45 minutes for a table. They did not acknowledge this or attempt to accomodate our inconvenience. Once we were seated, we both had dirty glasses... lipstick on the rims. Our waitress actually checked to make sure we were telling the truth before bringing us new glasses. Our service was slow and non responsive. The food was, however, delicious.
Did not have dinner here because the restaurant had an issue with their oven and closed the day of our reservation.
I expected more out of the food. They offered chicken saltimbocca, my husband asked if he could get veal saltimbocca which they accommodated. It was more like veal Parmesan with prosciutto. The clams linguini had plenty of garlic just lacked something. Maybe it was an off night?
A gem of a restaurant nestled in a lovely community.
We originally went here because of thenimportance of this restaurant to the movie twilight. After learning the truth we still wanted to explore Port Angeles and wanted to try the food, I myself got Bellas Ravioli, and my husband got the Chicken Marsala and they were awesome. The best marsala we have had. Our son got the kids spaghetti and it had a unique flavor. Waitress and staff were very personable and overall a nice evening out.
The food, people and service were terrific. The menu was excellent. Highly recommended!
Friendly atmosphere, nicely decorated. Smelled great. Portions were adaquate not extravagant, quality of food was outstanding. Staff was young, enthusiastic and attentive. Would like to eat there again.
Bella Italia serves a varied menu of Italian favorites coupled with chef's specialties. We found the appetizers, entrees, and bread to be equally delicious, and the serving sizes provided an excellent value for the meal's cost. We highly recommend this restaurant, but we suggest making reservations as we ate on a Monday night, but still had to wait ten minutes even with a reservation.
Poor service. Waitress was rude. Had reservations and were not seated for close to 30 minutes. The restaurant was very busy, and they were not handling the volume very well. The sautéed calamari appetizer was good and had a nice sauce. The mushroom pasta and pasta carbonara were bland and nothing special. The pasta carbonara (if you choose to call it that) had a cream based sauce with mushrooms similar to the mushroom pasta. It's the first pasta carbonara that I've had that was not made with an egg/cheese/bacon based sauce. It was difficult to distinguish the flavor in the two pasta dishes. Not sure if the kitchen made a mistake or if both sauces are supposed to be very similar.
This is a great place to eat. They have a fantastic wine list. The food is superb. I have never had a bad meal here. Everything is very fresh. Can't wait to go back again.
Well prepared and presented food featuring fresh local products.
We had a group of ten cyclists and Bella Italia did a great job of accommodating our big party. All of us raved about our dinners. The salads were crisp, fresh and nicely dressed. The pasta dishes were great too. Very attentive service by all staff particularly by our server, Joe, who was friendly and especially good humored despite our big party. We were all so full that we skipped dessert but I couldn't rests returning the next day for a slice of the limoncello lavender cheesecake: so light and creamy! My new favorite dessert.
Very good Italian dinner. Our reservations were for 3 and we brought 2 friends along. Hostess graciously accommodated our larger group. It was very busy and obviously popular. I now see why. The food was delicious. Caprese insalata and mushroom ravioli both done authentically and presentation lovely. I would definitely go back.
We enjoyed our dining experience at Bella Italia. The servers were courteous and the food was delicious. I enjoyed the pork with honey and balsamic glaze. They used fresh and local ingredients. I would definitely eat there again.
We went here for the Twilight connection (my husband indulged me!). There's no mention of Twilight, except for the menu item of Bella's Mushroom Ravioli, which I ordered. My husband ordered the fettuccini carbonara. We tried each other's dish and decided to trade! The Pinot Grigio was really good. Service was good and friendly. We had the apricot lavender tart - which was tasty, as was the coffee. A good experience - even though it is not the exact restaurant used in the movie, I still felt like I had the Twilight experience! :-)
I will admit that I went there only to take my friend -- an ardent "Twilight" fan -- to the restaurant where Bella and Edward had their first date. The surprise came when we discovered that Bella Italia was a wonderful dining experience, with a terrific ambience, amazing wait-staff and even more amazing food. There was nothing about the experience that we didn't love!
Notable as the Port Angeles WA restaurant where Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen had their first date in Twilight. Food is classic Italian that is done well, and backed by a superb wine list. Service is earnest but almost overwhelming. Doesn't drown itself in Twilight associations, but the ravioli dish that Bella ordered is very good.
Great little neighborhood restaurant. Went with the bruschetta and steak and my mom got the salmon. Salmon wasn't that great but the steak was amazing!! The charred zucchini might have been my favorite part! I could've had a plate of the zucchini alone and been happy happy! Will visit again.
Being retired my wife and I do not dine out frequently but when we do we want it to be special. Bella Italia is always a favorite. We love the quality of the food and the portions are just right and it is always a most pleasant experience. We also get a kick out of all the tourists that stop by to snap a photo of "Bella Italia" the restaurant of "Twilight" fame!
We've been dining there for years. I think it just gets better. We ended up with 2 extra people this visit. Although the place was packed (it was a pre-marathon Saturday evening) & my reservation was for 8, not 10, the bustling but always smiling wait staff didn't break stride (I told them we could go somewhere else if this was too much.) We had to wait perhaps 20 mins (they told us that), but cheerfully rearranged our seating. And they even comped us dessert because we had to wait!! Dinner was delicious! We will always eat at Bella Italia when we're in Port Angeles!
Nice family-friendly dinner spot in downtown Port Angeles. Perfect place for our pre-marathon dinner! Both pasta and non-pasta dishes were very good. Service was excellent.
Stayed in town for the NODM marathon and came in for pasta. Hubby had pork chop... it was fabulous! I had pasta dish which was also fab! Definitely would go again! Great service, food, and ambiance! Reserved through OpenTable and reservation was easy!
small neighborhood restaurant; reservations a must on a holiday week end. Excellent food, service was good as they were very busy. Great wine list. Would go back if in the area again. If you like/love REAL italian this is the restaurant for you. YUM Bella Italia!!!!
The food & the service was amazing! Everyone was so friendly and informative about the specials and wines! We loved it! And if we're ever in the area again we will definitely be coming back!
