About Bella Blu
The memorable Northern Italian Cuisine makes this Upper East Side restaurant special. The Spaghetti Lobster is the classic signature dish of this Mediterranean treasure. The Wine Spectator awarded extensive and serious wine menu is carefully selected by owner Enrico Proietti. Very often a private wine tasting is happening at the corner table
making the wine list more notable every season. The one of a kind brick oven offers a variety of dishes, exceptional pizza and foccacina rabbiola that is hard to find in this city. For something sweeter-the deserts are impressive! The atmosphere is charming in this power playing neighborhood.

Bella Blu Ratings and Reviews
If you visit Bella Blu on a Sunday night, make it early. The place is totally packed with families bringing energetic kids in tow. Wine from the extensive list helps. Salads are many in number and spectacular - share one. The branzino was out of this world - simply prepared, fileted and served beautifully. Pastas looked excellent. Bella Blu is clearly a neighborhood staple and worth a revisit.
The ravioli was good, soup was marginal and one was not even touched and waiter was unconcerned. Seems like a regular crowd, and had a good turnout for lunch... location was best of its attributes, since not many places around that area. For that high an end place, expected the bread to be better. The positive is the tables were not overcrowded.
The service continues to be abominable. We have tried the restaurant three times and each time the service has been awful which is unfortunate as the atmosphere is nice and the food is fine. Each time we hoped the last time was an aberration. We now know the poor service is the norm and we will give it no more tries.
We had a wonderful meal at Bella Blu. The Dover Sole was delicious and so was the white truffle risotto. My wife and I like the authentic Italian and family atmosphere. All of the waiters are friendly and very professional. This was probably our 6th or 7th meal at the restaurant over the last 5 years and they were all pleasant evenings.
Lunch was an assortment of salads and an individual pizza, folllowed by ice cream and a creme brûlée. Salads weee okay though not particularly exciting or crisp...a little too much dressing was wilting the veggies. Pizza with prosciutto and arugula was too wet, the crust was soggy and the prosciutto was so tough that you couldn’t break it apart with your teeth. Instead, you needed to cut it with a knife and fork, making it impossible to eat in any way remotely elegantly with your hands (and teeth, no matter how sharp they might be).
restuarant came highly recommended. we were highly disappointed and left after appertizers. waiter was "curt" & highly un-knowlegable, knew nothing about the wine list & was as equally as unknowlegable about the menu. then we recieved appetizers in reverse order. the tuna tartar was to come before hot pulpo & shrimp. the waiter then blamed us. we ate the apps & paid there rather high checkk and walked out. food that we ate was average at best.
This has become our favorite neighborhood spot. The wait staff is always cordial and welcoming. The food is always good, authentic and dependable. I don't feel like I have to order 3 or 4 courses when all I want is 1 or 2.
