making the wine list more notable every season. The one of a kind brick oven offers a variety of dishes, exceptional pizza and foccacina rabbiola that is hard to find in this city. For something sweeter-the deserts are impressive! The atmosphere is charming in this power playing neighborhood.
What Insiders Are Saying
Walking by Bella Blu, you might assume it’s just like every other mediocre, stuffy restaurant in the Upper East Side. Stuffy, it most certainly is. But it's actually far from mediocre – as long as you order correctly.
Great food. Excellent service.
The food was delicious! We had to wait 15 minutes for our reservation but the food was well worth the wait. We got eggplant parm, bufalina pizza, chicken parm and and the ravioli with truffle sauce was unreal. We will definitely be back! Great little neighborhood spot.
Consistent, high-end Italian. Always the nicest service. A restaurant we return to again and again...
Bella Blu is a very popular, noisy restaurant. We arrived promptly at 6pm and weren’t served until 7:00! My friend had bronzino that they said would take longer, but 1 hour!
We had to eat and run in 15 minutes to get to our appointment for which we were late. The waiter was very nice but unable to do a
anything other than make excuses for the fact that the food was so slow. My Bolognese was satisfactory.
Really excellent, particularly the cozy quiet corner in the back for our hearing impaired friends. Without that the great food and service would have been a waste.
Incredible food, service and dining experience. Always!
A lovely neighborhood gem that is very reasonably priced. An utterly delightful dining experience in every aspect
Wonderful every single time! Great food excellent service
Best pizza!!!!!! Everything is amazing
A really good place to eat italian food. Lobster pasta were amazing!
Always delicious food. Service was excellent. Only negative is the NOISE.
Had reservations, didn’t matter, had to wait 30 mins in a squeezed in bar entrance area. Finally got seated, again, waited forever to get water and a menu.
Finally after another 30 mins a nice waiter took our order.
The pasta was not hot , but the other dishes was really good.
The noise level is very high and you cannot hold a conversation unless your near on-top of each other.
I don’t know? is the food that good it’s worth the wait?
Depends on who your with. :)
i like this place by myself at the Bar.
Excellent food and service
As always excellent service and great food.
One of my favorites in the neighborhood
Super slow, didn’t seat us over an hour after our reservation!! 3 times pasta came wrong
Everything was wonderful! Thank you Diana for truly making my aunt’s birthday a special one! The table was perfect, the service more than efficient and the ambiance perfect. I can’t thank you enough for a special evening!
Great experience. Thank you, Marco!
Loved our waiter, Ellis the food - so delicious! just a great place to eat
Lovely artichoke salad. Scrumptious soft shell crabs
Outstanding experience. Attentive, well-informed waitstaff and excellent food!
We told the waiter that we had one hour for dinner. He took our order right away and we were sure he would bring the food in time for us to enjoy our dinner. However the main course did not come until late -- after we asked him and the hostess about the status of our dinners. Both said it would be right there, but clearly had not checked with the kitchen or done anything to assure our main courses were served in time for us to enjoy them. Very poor service, and did not even acknowledge or apologize for it.
Excellent food, service, and ambiance. Only negative is that at one early dinner (6 p.m.), they were already out of several items.
Always an exceptional experience. The specials almost always rival the main menu in volume and never disappoint.
My go-to for can’t fail.
We made an Open Table reservation for 12 people and the table barely fit 10 and they kept insisting it was ample room when they hadn't even put 12 place settings on the table because it was too tight. Food was good, but maitre de service was not customer friendly.
This is a convenient, pleasant neighborhood restaurant. Food is good, pizza interesting. Lots of specials, many of which are very good.
Excellent food and ambiance. Family friendly.
We had to wait in the rain with 2 kids even with a 6:45pm reservation. It was a Friday night so we understood a little bit of the wait, however we were celebrating a birthday and nothing was ever sent to the table to make up for the wait as a courtesy. As far as price, wines were very expensive and the drinks/beer were way over priced.
Typical UES restaurant. Very local and upscale.
Service was excellent, and the food very good.
We only had pizza and apps but all are worth going back for a regular meal.
Consistent neighborhood restaurant. Can only vouch for lunch but know I can count on it.
The food was very good but way too noisy. Would reccomend for a friend.
Don't bother trying or going anywhere else. Bela Blu is the best!
It was just too noisy and crowded and we were there at 5:00 PM. The food is as good as any other restaurant on the UES but the service was sketchy. We got the wrong salads and then had to wait quite a while for the right ones. And we had theater tickets at the Armory which is why we walked six blocks from our apartment. I don't think I need to do that again.
The food, wait staff and general ambiance was classic neighborhood NY. The only negative is the noise level and table proximity.
I selected the restaurant from the internet, something I rarely do because I go so often to New York. I was delightfully surprised by this warm, charming and very good restaurant. It was very busy and I had a feeling that it was neighborhood favorite. The service was friendly and outstanding. I look forward to going there again!
This charming Italian resto at the upper east side made tagliolini neri mix seafood to perfection!
Our dinner for 4 people was much more expensive than was expected. I was shocked actually. Specials run percipitously more than the actual menu and prices are not disclosed. (I didn't ask). The wine is very good but the wine list is quite pricey. The service is very rushed and hectic...and I thought the restaurant in general was hectic. All the negatives said...the food was delicious. I would go back perhaps for lunch or an early for pasta and a glass of wine and maybe the chicken.
Just Ok. Loud - food so-so
We had a very enjoyable experience. Food and service were first rate, but it's a bit expensive.
off the menu items are unreasonable expensive, menu is varied and well priced. Good for family and dates
A special birthday for my brother.. our host waiter prepared with chef a multi course sharing/tasting menu. It was perfectly selected and portioned and delicious.. all your team was delightful and welcoming! See you next time! La bella Bella Blu ! Nancy
