Bella Aquila Ratings and Reviews
Best date night restaurant in Eagle. We have been here many times and it never disappoints. Outdoor dining is fun riverside in the warmer summer months. Indoor dining is cozy and comfortable. Halibut is a favorite. Seasonal dessert specials when available are always outstanding.
My Chicken Parm was served cool and rather dry. However, it seemed to be overcooked.
My wife's meal was the same. The taste was nothing to brag about. Sauces were provided with great moderation.
I microwaved the leftovers and added some liquid. It was much better.
We have eaten here three times and thought it was great. This visit was the day after Valentine's day, was the Chef on vacation? Great places are great every day. Waiter seemed to be confused.
Was here for Valentines Day; ordered chicken piccata, it was delish; but the side dishes that came with it; barely visible so tiny were stone cold. When I mentioned it to the waiter; the response was "the kitchen is struggling tonight"....my husbands pasta was very good as was the salad we split. I thought the two sides with the chicken could've been more generous for $20. Not sure I'll come back; this is the 2nd time we've tried them for a special occasion; first time I got the completely wrong dish; I ate it but no offer of a complimentary dessert....
Our waitress was less than informative. She did not explain the menu change for the holiday, other than there would be no substitutions. When the food came is was appeared as if it was mass produced and cold. We had a mediocre steak, something that resembled vegetables and cold mashed potatoes We will not be back.
We were so excited to celebrate my daughters birthday here. It started pretty well with the Caprese salad, but once we received the entrees it all went down hill. Both my daughter and I had pasta and it was inedible. It seemed like it sat in the window under the hot lamp for a while, it was clumpy, barely warm and dry. We ate a few bites and our waiter didn't really check back, then some woman came and took it away. She asked if we wanted a box, as we didn't really eat much of it at all and when we said no, she just took off without really caring if we were happy or not. I did not bring this to the attention of the waiter or manager, as I didn't want to make a big deal on my child's birthday. When making the reservation, I completed the Open Table field that asked about a special occasion and once at the restaurant, they did not acknowledge it at all. The pizza's were also poor. I wanted to like this place SO much, beautiful restaurant, but the food wasn't reflective of the surroundings. Save your money and find another place.
Food was good. Lots of choices. Served hot. Wine by the glass prices were pretty high if you wanted anything above 'drinkable'.
Service was good when he could make it to our table. NO fault of his but I think he was the only server. We thought that the hostess and owner could have helped him out more. Maybe they did but not with us?
We've always enjoyed this restaurant and plan to return.
Whenever my husband and I travel to the Boise/Eagle area, we make a point of dining at least once at the Bella Aquila ("Beautiful Eagle"). This is a lovely little gem of a restaurant on the banks of the Boise River where you will find delicious Italian cuisine in an atmosphere of quiet elegance. They have an extensive menu and wine list; and the wait staff is fast, friendly and attentive.
On our most recent visit, I had the house salad with its tangy, slightly sweet dressing. Then I thoroughly enjoyed a bowl of cioppino and ended my meal with their fabulous crème brulee. And, yes, the caramelized sugar topping had just the right crunch when I dug down into the custard with my spoon. My husband had a New York steak and mashed potatoes. He said it was one of the best steaks he'd had in a long time which is a major kudo from my picker eater. He ordered the turtle pie for dessert. It was so thick and rich that he couldn't finish it in one sitting (even with help from the other diners at our table), so we had to take some back to our hotel for later. Darn! Our guest chose a cup of minestrone for her starter followed by the fettucine blanco with scallops. She ended her meal with the scrumptious chocolate decadence cake which definitely lived up to its name! If it's possible for a human being to purr, I'm pretty sure that's what she was doing when we had finished our lovely meal.
Having been born in Boise, of course I would like this place a lot. But knowing that it sits on the ground where my late Uncle's Otie Young's Eagle Valley Meat Packing plant stood years ago makes it all the more special for me. Try the food and the view just once, and I think it may become special to you, too! And be sure to check out the old meat packing plant photograph in the lobby. It brings back a lot of memories for me. Enjoy!
The food was very good! The spinach salad was Excellent! As was my Eggplant Parmigiana . May great wines to pick from. I liked that if you did not want to spend over $20 dollars a plate they had great dishes that were under $20. If you want a very upper class meal they have that too. Very pleasant evening with a guitar player, playing nice older music more on the jazz side. The service was really good! Will be going back. :)
The food and service are consistently great. The menu has wonderful variety in both selection and prices. We were promptly seated but then told if we had a minute or two, they'd move us to a nicer table once it was reset - a much appreciated gesture as the first table was not awful, just a little close to a kitchen door and the bar. It's by far the nicest place in Eagle.
The food and service was great. Our issue was that we didn't like where we were seated. The hostess first tried to put us right by the entrance, we than asked for the main dining room which has the best ambiance and they seated us in a back room which felt isolated from the main room. We will definitely try again.
It's a favorite. Most items on the menu are reliable and good. Love the ambiance. Wait staff is friendly and try, but not well-trained or very professional. (Needed to flag down waitperson, remind her of items.) Biggest complaint is how quickly orders come out, not matter how much to say "first the carpaccio, then the dinner, then the salad. Usually all come out at the same time.
That said, we love the place and feel it is the best Italian food outside of Ketchum.
