Absolutely fabulous! It’s our favorite Italian dining! Love the atmosphere, food and service.
The salmon was very dry and the pasta overcooked. Expected a lot better for the price.
The menu has been the same for over ten years and the food tastes like they don’t care anymore. Mediocre and uninspired. C’mon Bella Aquila - make an effort!
Asked for a table near the waterfall on the patio, but was told no, so we had to sit near the server station & the door. Took an hour & half to get our food & when I asked about it I was told it would be another 5 minutes, but no apology. Got very dark on the patio without adequate lighting. Food was very good. I would probably give it a second chance -maybe they just had a bad night. But it was disappointing especially because it was a bit pricey.
Most expensive steak on the menu & had to send it back to the kitchen. Ordered medium rare, received well done. Everything else was fine, but my wife waiting for a new steak sure took the shine off the evening.
One of best outdoor patio places for lunch or dinner. The food was very good and the service was great.
Food was good, not outstanding but overall we had a pleasant dinner.
There appeared to be something going on with the staff. Our server was openly critical of other employees saying that they "needed to get their act together." Our server did give us our desserts free as the wait was quite long. We weren't too disturbed by it as we were in good company.
We brought some friends with us for our third visit. We sat on the patio & enjoyed a beautiful evening with the sounds of the river and the patio waterfall feature to enhance the experience. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! One of our new favorite places!
Great service - beautiful view with table by window. Gorgeous patio (when cooler temperatures return)!
Eggplant Parmesan so delicious.
Nick our server was knowable about the menu and gave us a lot of good suggestions. It was a nice evening but too hot for the patio.
We love sitting outside. The patio is close to the river and also boasts 2 waterfalls. Sunday brunch is our favorite seating. Live music, bottomless mimosas, excellent menu options.
Exceptional and friendly service, and wonderful atmosphere in the back.
Date night with my wife.
We've been here many times with good food and service but tonight was terrible. Very slow service. Never received bread and butter after requesting it. Had to ask twice and wait until meal was almost over to get additional sauce. Steak was overdone and chicken was dry.
Good food, served hot and ready to eat.
We love this place for relaxed conversation. The Veal Marsala is outstanding. We’ve also had lasagna and eggplant parmigiana and enjoyed those dishes as well. The service is excellent. We never feel rushed. The weather was nice for patio dining at our last visit.
If you're going for Sunday Brunch, go early. We didn't realize that on Sunday only brunch is served, not their full menu. We reserved at 1pm, on the tail end. We sat outside by the waterfall. It was lovely. The food was pleasantly plated and tasted very nice, although the service was a little slow. We will definitely be back. This time on a Saturday, or a weeknight, when we can try their full menu. Also, as we passed through, we noticed the inside seating areas also offer a lovely ambiance. Leave room for amazing desserts.
This is our 3rd trip to Bella Aquila and the worst experience. We had a reservation which was exactly what we requested but it went downhill from there. We were seated outside in the middle of the patio where several servers had to walk past us, however, we sat for almost 20 minutes before I asked a server walking by if we could get service. When he did come over he said he didn’t know it was his table. We ordered drinks and our meal while we had his attention because we were not sure he’d come back. When the drinks came one had at least 1/3 spilled on his tray and when he placed it on the table it dripped on my moms arm & lap. My husband ordered halibut and picked several large bones out of his mouth after almost choking while eating. The drinks were good, the desserts were great. The service and flavors of the entrees seemed to be off which lead to a less than enjoyable birthday celebration for family visiting from out of state.
Bella Aquila has the potential to be a great restaurant. We had a waiter who was slow and spoke negatively of the wine and food choices. Our food took an hour to arrive and was bland.
There are many good reviews of this restaurant. We had a very different experience and will not go back.
Nice atmosphere and excellent food.
Our waiter was professional and gave good recommendations. They have a lovely patio area with waterfalls. I had Chicken Piccata with rice, which was ok but not great; the rice was flavorless. My husband ordered the linguini bolognese with sausage and that was good; it has more tomato taste than some. The focaccia bread was good. For dessert I had the tiramisu which was very good. My husband had a peach and mango crumble which was also very good. Like any restaurant there are items better than others.
Great food and the best bread! Love the relaxing atmosphere and view!
Always our favorite! Lovely setting outside! The food and service remain consistently outstanding!
The food was delicious, the atmosphere on the patio excellent, the waitress very gracious and accommodating. The only negative and it was slight was there seemed to be some confusion at first about which server would be waiting on us. On the whole it was a very pleasant evening which we enjoyed very much.
Being that the weather is nice we decided to eat out on their patio which was a very good choice. There are a couple of waterfalls they have built which provide a nice background sound without being too distracting. You can see the Boise river about 75 feet away. We came early enough (5:45) so that we had plenty of attention from the staff and the mosquitos weren't out yet. Appetizer of tomato basil bruschetta was very tasty but it either didn't have enough bread or had too much extra tomato as there was enough to pile it high on each piece with plenty left over. My wife had a smoked kale and beet salad which I normally wouldn't care for but we both thought it was delicious. Main entrees of cioppino and lasagna were excellent choices. By the time we were leaving (about 7) it was packed outside and of course the service slowed as well so we will be returning and arriving early.
We had a party of 4. Seated outside on railing so we had a perfect view of river. Great service. Great food. Great ambience. Could have not asked for more. Have been here lots of times. Never had a bad meal or service. Just the opposite. Perfect
The food and service were excellent and seating on the patio was great.
The food was amazing! I love Italian cuisine, and this was the best ever. The atmosphere was perfect. Background music so fitting. A little Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, not that I listen to this ever but exactly what you'd expect in an Italian restaurant. We truly had a great time! Did I mention the food was out-of-this world!!
We especially love the Sunday Brunch on the river-side patio! Everything is great, food, service, ambiance, and all. Water noise from the 2 water features is a bit overwhelming so sitting in the middle between the two is best. Live music is always enjoyable. Dinners and late afternoon cocktail times are excellent as well.
It was a lovely early Saturday evening, we sat on the shady patio. The service was great, the food was great and noise level was low. Even inside the noise level is normally low and I really appreciate that.
Always a great meal with great service. Our go to place for a nice dinner
We had a great meal with wonderful atmosphere seated outside with a beautiful view of the river. Service was excellent and engaging. Anxious to return soon!
It is my go to restaraunt for reliably very good food/great service/and I love being by the river.
Thanx, Bella Aquila 4 a marvelous & scrumptious dinner on the most beautiful of patios in Boise! You made our evening most special! We’ll b back soon, I hope!
We have been here many times and usually the service is outstanding but it took a long time to get drinks and food and they weren't that busy. Asked for more bread and by the time it showed up we were ready to leave. We noted a couple times that it was my father in laws birthday but no offer of a free dessert. Also the waiter just seemed to be going through the motions, not friendly at all. Just not the experience we've come to expect. My husband felt that since we were a party of six and the tip was added on automatically the waiter had no incentive to work hard. We spent almost $200 for good food but not great service. Sad.

Beautiful setting but... the white wine we ordered took 20 minutes to arrive and was served warm. The dinner was terrible. Such a beautiful setting and such a shame the dinner was terrible. Bad service and bad food can’t be overlooked.
Surprised and disappointed because this restaurant was reputed to be nice. Food was absolutely nothing special. The Halibut portion size was very small, especially considering the price. Menu options were tired and outdated.
Service was good - attentive and friendly waiter. The only really redeeming quality.
Was hoping this would be a good option - oh well...
A beautiful restaurant located along the Boise River in Eagle, Idaho. Seating on the patio beside one of the waterfall water features is our favorite. The staff is wonderful. The food is fabulous. Elegant but casual dining. You are never rushed but encouraged to linger and enjoy every second being there.
