Food wasn't as good compared to previous experiences. I found the prices to be outrageous this visit. I have dined here for more than a decade. This is the first time it didn't meet my expectations and we have come several times during the pandemic. Hoping it was just a 1 off.
Food was good and came out quickly, server was great and timely but the host seating us was rude. Will not return.
Belga Cafe has perfected the art of outdoor dining with its two enclosed greenhouses, as well as its well-distanced patio tables. Great food, great service, great experience.
I had asked a very sophisticated friend for a recommendation on a good French restaurant. He paused for a second and said, “don't you really want a good Belgian restaurant?” (full disclosure, he's Belgian). My experience with Belgian food in Brussels had always been superb, so I took his recommendation and gave Belga Cafe a try. If you check my restaurant reviews at places like TripAdvisor, you will see I'm not what you would call an easy grader. That said, Belga Cafe was five stars across the board --- a unique, varied menu combined with a succulent cuisine and a elegant presentation. We ate outside in a nice breeze on what in DC could pass for a quaint street. In retrospect, service might have been a tad slow, but the waitress was super pleasant and knowledgeable. It was my friend's wife's birthday. Belga didn't just bring her a little cupcake. It was a platter of Belgian pastry/chocolate delight. My friends are only in town for a week, but insisted they would definitely eat at Belga Cafe again before leaving.
Doffles for life! The food is always delicious here! It is one of our favorite brunch places. My boyfriend loves the doffle sandwich and refuses to get anything else because he loves it so much. I love the amazing fruit plate and the fruit waffle. So yummy!
My favorite spot in DC!
Food was wonderful as always, and the staff had appropriate safety measures in place. We will defiantly come back.
The staff was very accomodating and provided blankets while we say outside. The food was delicious!
Great atmosphere, food, and drinks! Would definitely go again, and recommend to others.
The service was great, and the food was delicious. It really made my birthday special!
The manager was very nice and the food was above average. Will definitely return
Love Belga! They have taken every COVID precaution possible and even made it fun. My daughter and I had a lovely brunch in a beautifully decorated private greenhouse on the patio. The staff is always so sweet and knowledgeable.
Seafood omelet was tasty. Desserts extremely small for price point. Ice cream glass was 95% whipped cream. Would be nice to have a bottomless drink option for brunch. Everyone we came in contact was genuinely friendly... including manager. Will return... no dessert next time
Great food and service.
All around fantastic. The food was amazing (appetizers, dinner, and dessert) with an extensive drink selection. They have done a great job providing outdoor dining options, even setting up personal greenhouses and handing out blankets. Definitely want to return soon to try all the things I couldn’t get to on the menu. Highly recommend the lamb as well as the Flemish beef stew, along with the pistachio cranberry waffle dessert. The dessert was so unique and tasty. I would go back for that alone!
The food is always amazing no matter what you get. I’ve never had anything bad! Service is always excellent!
We went to Belga Cafe for breakfast and everything was delicious. The Cowboy Hash was amazing!
Belga Café is a top tier restaurant. Chef Bart continuously révises the menu so that regulars don’t get bored. The quality of the ingredients and the skill in preparation and presentation are impeccable. The cocktails are creative and the wine and beer list superb. We love Belga and feel lucky to live within walking distance. We are never disappointed.
As always, food and service were great. We sat in one of the new greenhouses... loved it!
Enjoy having brunch on Fridays!
Bart (Chef and owner) makes dining out a wonderful and safe experience not to mention outstandingly delicious.
The food is spectacular as is the service. I recommend it highly!
Loved the mussels and fries. Don't remember having to pay for bread before. Also, did not understand that we would be charged for the water (should have ordered tap water I guess instead of still). So, cost more than we expected but food was delicious and outdoor eating was acceptable.
One of my favorite brunch spots! Food is bomb, service is bomb and management reflects all of that as well. Truly love each of my visits.
As usual an amazing experience from the food to the service to getting a chance to chat with the owner about how the pandemic has effected the restaurant business and how the community support has been a key factor in keeping them open. We visit each week after Sunday service and ate outside but also had a chance to see how the inside has been changed since COVID and what a beautifully quaint setup! We love the new inside socially distanced dining room and as always the food and service was amazing! Will continue supporting our local restaurants👍🏾
Great experience overall! Our food was really good, and I would definitely come back. It was a little tricky to ensure outside reservation with so many people walking up, but it worked out. Will be back!
I hate to do this given what we are all dealing with and especially since restaurants are barely standing. But... New to DC and this restaurant and we were excited to try it. We sat outside. First waiter comes over and we asked for a few minutes. About 8-10 minutes goes by and a different person shows up who is clearly new; takes our drink order. I get a $15 Sazerac and I swear it has been waterdown, there was water in the glass, or something. I have had a number of them and this was so wrong. When I mention it, I get a shrug. Waiter can’t answer any questions since she admits she doesn't know the menu; I order an small(ish) plate for my main. It arrives before my companions since waiter never asked if I wanted it first (how about some training for the staff?). The food was tasty, the host apologized for the screw-up. One cocktail, one mocktail, an app, and a main dish was almost $90, with nothing comped and they have a automatic 20% gratuity. One of the rare times I would have not offered it. We'll try Belga again and I hope for a better experience.
This is one of the standout restaurants on Barracks Row. Very inventive food selections, amazing beer list, and a great staff.
Feels very safe - food and service are always excellent!
We loved B Too and were very happy to try out Belga Cafe and even got to see some familiar faces over at Belga Cafe.
The brunch was amazing! The food was superb and the Staff too. We are definitely going back,
Not only delicious food and great service, they have been very innovative in keeping their guests safe during the pandemic.
Went as soon as they opened for a Thursday brunch. Very clean and the staff was nice. Food was good and good portions, but on the small side if you are use to large portions.
Fabulous service, great food and drinks! Noise level was really because we sat outside - it was a lovely evening!
