We were surprised that after we gave the tip, we were approached by the manager I guess asking if we didn’t have a good service due to the amount of the tip. We didn’t know it was mandatory 20% tip. It should have been added at the check.

Thanks.

Consistently top notch food and service, one of the best belgian bistros, both classic and creative belgian food and the very best beer selection.

Belga is our go-to destination dining restaurant on Barracks Row. So happy to see it has survived the pandemic, and the food is as good as ever. I love LOVE their weekend brunches: the hardest part is deciding between their amazing Belgian waffle entrees or their amazing egg options. And their Bloody Mary's are to-die-for (that celery foam!). Keep it up Chef Bart, we hope to have you here for another 20 years!

Service was sporadic. I think the poor staff were overwhelmed. We didn't get any bread prior to the meal which we used to get. And prices were sky high. We understand about inflation and labor shortages but don't raise prices AND reduce service and food.

You don't have to order the waffles - but if you do - they're pretty awesome too.

We made a reservation for inside and when we go there, were told there were no tables and we were seated outside. It was cold and windy and we were not dressed to be seated outside.

The food was great, except the simplest requests (another coffee, more water, catsup) took forever. They forgot to include mayo on an order of fries.

Excellent dining experience. Incredibly high quality of food and service. Avoid the Julius Caesar. Very fish forward and little other elements of flavor. Everything else was outstanding.

Chorizo mussels were out of this world. Paired with a cabernet and it was awesome.

A great meal from start to finish! The appetizers were delicious and the entrées equally so. Loved the crab pasta (the half portion was a perfect dinner size for anyone with a lighter appetite). The mussels and pomme frites with house made mayonnaise were divine. Warm, friendly service. Will definitely go back!

You must try the venison

The venison was spectacular, as was the squash salad and the crab pasta

We had brunch at Belga Cafe and enjoyed it immensely. My son had the “coddled eggs” and I had the green eggs. I also tried the Napoleon mimosa. Everything was delicious and service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely return.

I have frequented Belga over many years, and the experience has usually been a great one; however, on this occasion it all seemed a bit off. For example, I ordered pork fillet and received a rather dry and tough pork chop. My friend ordered salmon and received braised short ribs. The waiter didn’t seem to know what to do with all of this.

Belga Cafe is a neighborhood gem on Barrack’s Row and one of our favorite restaurants in DC. Our daughter was visiting from California and we took her here for brunch. She loved it and so did we! The owner, Bart, and staff are wonderful and always welcoming!

We love Belga. We had a new server, just out of college and all of the experienced staff bent over backwards to help her and teach her. She was very sweet and very deferential to her customers. She’s going to be great.

The food as always was delicious. We had our favorites. I had the endive salad and the mussels mariniere and some Saison DuPont to wash it down. My wife had the filet, cooked perfectly. It’s the only place we order “French” fries ( Belgian frites). Delish! And to cap off a great night Bart, the chef/owner stopped by the table.

On the positive end, our food - the branzino, ribs, beef stew and the pork buns were excellent!
However, bread was not brought until half way through the meal, the French 75 had an unusual herbal flavor that did not blend. Worst of all, our server had his mask OFF HIS NOSE throughout the evening.
