The lobster special was a nice special menu, but the siggars were too much Old Bay, not enough lobster flavor. Usually really like the food, this time was good to very good, but not as good as in the past.
This particular visit to Belga for dinner was occasioned by a "Lobster Week" promotion. As far as I'm concerned, it is impossible to eat too much lobster. So I had lobster "sigaars" as an appetizer (I'd give them maybe a "B", perhaps not the optimal way to showcase lobster, but good anyway), and then a lobster au gratin which was a whole lobster halved, sprinkled with cheese, and broiled. With noodles and a mild tomato-based sauce. Oh my goodness, delicious! My husband had the lobster bisque which he pronounced sublime, and the surf and turf option. No room for dessert, that's for sure! Nice cocktails at this time of year -- a winter Betsy gin and tonic was garnished with apple-clove ice. Excellent wine selection, super service. Love this place. A "neighborhood gem" that is worth the drive from anywhere.
Excellent selection of beers
Classic Belgian fare any foodie would love. Intimate setting, and a great place to take that special someone!
Belgian waffle was good....Belgian omelet was tasty. Had the fries as a side and they were good. Pretty hopping place for Saturday brunch.
My first time here and I was totally impressed! Had checked the menu out online but when we got to the restaurant it was a little different. Our server was so accommodating and worked with the kitchen to make us a dish that was on the old menu that was superbly cooked! Only strange thing was there no music or ambient noise so you could hear other diner's conversations but I won't let that detract from their overall look, feel and delicious menu!
Fast & friendly service, fantastic food! Can't wait to come back and try more menu items. I never knew what a Belgian waffle was supposed to taste like until I ate here.
Wonderful brunch place. Excellent food with a twist. Just love hanging out at Belga!
Belga never disappoints. Great food, great service in a wonderful atmosphere.
We were a large party if 10 - the restaurant was very accommodating and service was fabulous. T
Great place to eat brunch and be with friends and family.
Great dining experience on Valentine's Day. The host and server went out of their ways to make the night feel special. We had the steak frites (filet mignon) which was tender and tasty.
A late first service meant that we needed to wait for our seating on a packed Valentine’s Day, but they gave us a great table about 15 minutes later. Great food (and an excellent beer as well as wine list), good service. Expensive but a good place to go, especially for something (or someone) special.
Belga Cafe continues to provide a high quality dining experience. Good was great, wine choice was perfect and our waiter - Nate - worked hard across a lot of tables. Would still - after going there for more than 15 years - recommend this lively, authentic Belgian eatery.
Took my girlfriend out for dinner on her birthday, on a weeknight. Ordered Diabolique mussels with extra bread, crab stuffed waffles and Brussels sprouts. Washed it all down with a couple of Leffe Brown ales--great night, she loved it!
I waited 10 mins to be acknowledged by the Hostess when I came in and I had to waive her down. The service was not that great I constantly had to waive the waiter down for things like water, syrup, and salt and pepper. The food was not that great I kept it simple by ordering the Brusselse Wafels with scrambled eggs, sausage, and hash browns for brunch. It was not great at all. Also, my waiter never came over to check on us to see if it were. I had to put salt and pepper on my waffle to make it edible and I did not finish the eggs or sausage. Overall the restaurant was very nice but the service and food were not worth it and I would not recommend or go their again for brunch.
Delicious, as always! We have been here several times, and have never had a bad meal.
Food portions were laughable for what you paid. Had a reservation and still waited 20 minutes for a table. Overall would not come back here, wasn’t worth the $ or time.
I will not be returning to Belga Cafe, primarily because of the service of the hostess during brunch. Apparently, the restaurant has a policy of not seating guests for brunch until all diners have arrived. While understandable when the restaurant is busy, there were less than half tables filled at the time. I did not object but was not happy with having the sit at the bar. When my guests arrived, several tables remained empty, but the hostess tried to sit the party at the table nearest the kitchen and server area. Other tables could have been moved to accommodate my party, but I had to request that happen.
I've eaten at the Belga Cafe many times for brunch, but prices have increased noticeably while quality remains the same. Servers were very attentive, so kudos to them. However, their attention does not compensate for the treatment and attitude of the hostess or the increased prices.
The food is reliably excellent at Belga Cafe. The mussels appetizer portion is a great way to start a meal. Had the rockfish entree, and the flavors were great. Clearly, the chef/owner cares about the service and quality, and he was present, walking through the restaurant attending to guests. Because it was a very chilly night and many seats are near the door, they provided a blanket at each table - thought that was a nice, cozy touch.
As always, fantastic!
It was good. Chicken was slight
Food is always reliably amazing. We were the first in at 11:00 am so no competition consequently excellent service.
Overpriced for average food. Marginal service. Price fixe menu was definitely not worth it.
Overall, the experience was nice. As a vegetarian, I was disappointed that I couldn’t switch out my meat for avocado or something similar without being up-charged $3.50 (which seemed excessive). The food itself was alright—albeit the hash browns came out cold. I’d go back, but it wasn’t my favorite place to eat.
This definitely felt like a special event location. We came for restaurant week, and the food was excellent! Very filling, good sized portions and very rich. The appetizers could almost be confused for the entree, they were that large. The wine and beer selection was also excellent and reasonably priced. Overall, excellent meal!
First time back to Belga after long absense. Much improved. First rate. Mussels couldn't be better. Beers seemed overpriced. Would have got another, but not at $13 a bottle.
Perfect in every respect.
Nice higher end luncheon venue. My companions had the lambburger and the soup/salad, both quite good with the pumpkin soup a real standout. I tried the last day of the restaurant week menu, and was a bit disappointed by the beef stew but the asparagus soup was very good. Service and ambiance were fine.
We happened to make it in for their restaurant week special and had the mussels and the beef stew. Both were amazing and plenty of food. The croquettes and the crème brûlée were also amazing. The service was great and the recommendations were spot on. Plenty of drink options and will definitely swing by again.
The beef stew was perfect and the chocolate mousse was wonderful!
Generally very pleased. But at least 40% of my mussels were missing and I thought they dropped to the bottom of the pot -- not there. This was disappointing,
Absolutely, positively always delivers a great dinner!
This restaurant has gone downhill, I made a reservation for two women and they sat us right by the line cooks when there were plenty of alternate seating options away from the kitchen available. Reservations should be given location priority, so it was rather disappointing. The server was also rushing us- food coming out within 7 minutes and him wanting to take our order the minute we sat down. My favorite dish, the braised short ribs with polenta, was also runny and not the same quality I remembered. The mimosas were very small and rather expensive for the quantity and quality. I probably will not return.
Good quality food. Nice atmosphere
We had a really great time. The food is always fabulous and it was perfect for New Years.
The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent and we really enjoyed dinner for New Year’s Eve at this restaurant.
Very good Belgian cuisine with an extensive beer selection. Very indicative of an authentic Belgian experience!
Food was good. Service started fine but then the server just stopped coming by when a group of 8 sat down. Neglected his other 3 tables.
