Went here on a recomendation from a friend for a business dinner. Pork chop was outstanding, and was recommended by our server as the #1 item on the menu- spot on! The service was superb with the perfect personality for the restaurant! Will recommend to others!

lackluster overall experience and almost inedible food. They were short on staff so the service was only fair. I won't be back, sorry!

There were several restaurants in Beldon's Alley. My colleagues chose Taverna based on the description of the Chef on their website. Two appetizers - Tuna Poke and Duck Quesadilla were great. The entres were average and not notable. Also, it would have been helpful if the waiter let us know that each would have 3 pieces so we could decide on other choices as there were 4 in our party. There was a Happy Hour item for Fred's Fried Chicken wings for $8. My colleagues opted for the entre--Fred's Fried Chicken for $22. We thought this disk would include a chicken breast or chicken leg, instead it came with Fred's Fried Chicken wings.

There were two servers who were taking orders, delivering orders, removing dishware, etc. They were working hard and doing the best they could, but they were not able toheck in with tables. Several patrons had to get up to get their check and to pay. Most people would not have enough time to come here during lunch.

The menu presented at the restaurant was not the same as the menu on-line. We were disappointed to find some items not offered and higher prices. On the waiter's recommendation, we ended up eating off of the Happy Hour menu. The food was good and the server let us trade out a better beer than the Happy Hour beer offered.

Loved it. Great location great food. Only bummer that the menu attached to the open table app is outdated. I really wanted the crab spaghetti and they don't have it. Somehow they can't remove the menu from the site? Weird. But still a great restaurant will go back for sure!!

I made a reservation at this place for an office lunch, which ended up being a great experience. We were seated outdoors and were a party of 12. I was worried that we were too large of a party to all fit comfortably, but Belden Taverna made it work. The service was good, food was great, and all of my co-workers were really happy!

How can you not have coffee?? What a waste of time and money. And by the way they serve watery instant mashed potatoes. Just awful.

I met with one other person for a business lunch. We were seated outside under a heater, with me sitting farthest from the heater. Temperature regulation was a bit iffy - and that was the only part of the experience that was at all bad. Service was exemplary, food was fabulous. I only wish my lunch partner (who arrived before me) would have been ok sitting inside.

For my second visit to Belden Taverna, I was joined by a good friend who ordered the NY steak while I had the petite filet. We had the excellent deviled eggs to start. We also ordered a bottle of Perseverance Old Vines Zinfandel, which was superb. Franz Meis and his associates Alina and Willie made our evening very special with their gracious attention and service. When I return to San Francisco, I know my table at Belden Taverna will be waiting.

They didn't have many of the components required to make items on the menu for some reason. What food we could order was pretty good, though.

I meant to go here 2 months ago, found Belden Street, an alley full of cafes, but was seated in the one next to Belden Taverna. So, once that was straightened out, and I returned to San Francisco again, this time I was seated in the right place and that was wonderful! The happy hour red, Buonocore, was an especially welcome treat, followed by deviled eggs that were superb, an excellent cream of leek soup, and finally braised meatballs. For those in search of less conventional entrees, there is rabbit on the menu, but I did not try it. Maybe another time.

The lovely Alina took gentle care of me, explained all the items I might want to try, and made me feel especially welcome, as did Franz Meis. I enjoyed it so much I had hoped to return before leaving town but was not able to. I return in June and will be certain to stop in again, this time for the filet mignon.

Had a business luncheon here during RSA Conference week. Decided to eat inside vs alfresco. Service staff areas attentive, seamless and non-disruptive. Great lunch off of limited lunchtime menu. Lobster "escargot" was a hit as an appetizer. , as was spicy deviled eggs and the meatballs. Most had luncheon salads and then coffees.

I would absolutely recommend.

Fred's Fried Chicken was just overly salted and then the drum stick wasn't cooked all the way thru. When the chicken is pink and running with pink juice who would eat that? The other pieces where all cooked fine but way to salty. My husband had the Duck Pasta Dish and it was to melt in your mouth dish. Great but really, fried chicken is a no brainer. Disappointed. Probably will not go back.

We ordered one sparkling water, one diet coke and one lemonade over lunch and the drinks added up to almost $20. I find that ridiculous. The food was fine but stick with tap water if you go.

All of Belden Place is wonderful. A restaurant row with an old school European vibe. Belden Taverna's specialty cocktails are lovely and the food was delicious - enjoyed my salmon entree. Went with a group of friends. Cool take on a Caesar salad with shaved brussels sprouts. Another of our group was thrilled with the beet and burrata salad. And we all swooned over the souffle desserts (even though they were more like molten lava cakes than traditional souffles.)

Great area of SF. Was an impromptu group of 5 during prime dinner hours. Gave us a great table upstairs.

Booze selection was extremely limited. Had to send an overlooked Filet back after requesting Med Rare and getting medium. Then got rare, but ate it anyway.

Maybe just an off night, I'd go back.

I have been a patron for many years, but this time going there for lunch the service was bad and quality of the food went down. Normally, we get table bread and butter. The other tables didn't have it either, so they took away with table bread. The entrée portion is smaller than what I recalled. The restaurant wasn't full so I didn't see how service was so lacking. I hope this was an isolated incident.

There is something about finding a little piece of Rome in downtown San Francisco that is tough to beat. Came for lunch and sat outside. The service was quick and the food was good. The portions were just right, and I'd definitely come back here. It's a really cool San Francisco experience even for someone that lives here!

The food was great, but I don't think I would go back. The service was strange. Our server didn't seem to have an opinion or much knowledge of the items in the menu. We felt as if we were often forgotten about, even though it was a half empty restaurant.

The food and service are good, but I recommend specifying to eat inside during winter hours. The weather might be cold or rainy or both in winter, so you might be seated outside. On a cold Friday, we found that eating inside wasn't going to be possible, so we still ate outside. There can be wind that blows through that Belden alleyway , particularly if you're right along the edge.

With the exception of it being a very chilly day and the restaurant being cold inside as well as out, everything was presented well and service was excellent. A very enjoyable place to dine for lunch with a quaint atmosphere. Best of all though, you could carry on a conversation without shouting!

first of all, the meal was top notch. But it wasn't what I ordered. Now I know we had a relatively new waiter but he could have used a little training. As it turned out we were virtually ignored but when the food came it was fabulous. In fact, it smelled so great I couldn't send it back even though it wasn't what I ordered. eventually it all worked out fine but the operation wasbnot as polished as you might expect.

We did not end up eating here. The reality of the place is so different from the images shown on website. This is basically a bunch of tables jammed into a narrow lane. You can hardly even get by. The hostess was uninterested in the fact that we had an Open Table booking. She wanted to put us on a small cramped table right on the edge of the alley. I do not think it unreasonable to expect that a restaurant that has 90 percent of the tables outdoor should mention it in an obvious place on their website . The food could have been great, who knows.........?

Decided upon Belden Taverna based on reviews and the fact that it was a "steakhouse" so took a group of 6 for a post-business dinner on a Thursday night at 7:30. To our surprise we were greeted with the statement, "we are out of steak"!! Only one filet left! The reason given was that a couple of large parties had just been there. How can a "steakhouse" run out of steak on a Thursday night at 7:30! Despite the bad initial news, we decided to stay and what we did order was good except for the beef carpaccio which had some sort of creamy sauce which had hints of mayo...not a good twist. For an Italian restaurant, I wouldn't have expected that. Pork chop was very good though and the lobster "escargot" also good. Service was friendly and attentive so no issues there.

If friends were going, I wouldn't object, but I won't be seeking this place again.

The service was painfully slow, which was surprising given the restaurant's tiny size.

The food was pretty good, but nothing that stands out amount the other amazing restaurants in SF.

The restaurant itself is just too small and awkwardly arranged.

Our party of five enjoyed a beautiful evening beginning with oysters and deviled eggs and continuing with salmon and bream and steak and polenta fries. Completed with apple tart and butter cake it was a perfect evening. The food was very good, the ambiance magical and the weather cooperated so nicely. You will not regret spending some Taverna time!

Food was okay--the fried chicken was fine although greasy. The deviled eggs were pretty good. When we asked to take our leftovers, the waitress gave us each a box (not what you would expect for those prices) and then returned with the check. She did not ask us whether we wanted coffee or dessert. When we mentioned that to the waitress, she did not apologize nor offer us coffee or dessert! How strange.
