We started with the carpaccio appetizer and I would highly recommend it. I had the steak frites which were delicious. In other restaurants when I’ve ordered this dish I have been served what looks like trimmings. This was obviously a lovely piece of meat that was thinly sliced. My husband had the half chicken dinner. I thought the source was a little heavy, but he thought it was perfect.

This was our first visit- we're locals, we'll probably give them another chance as I like the Idea and ambiance of the meat mraket up front, and the marketing = aged meat story- but the dining area ambiance/comfort level = O.K for Lunch, underdeveloped for Dinner, and the service staff, pleasant, friendly but execution during our mealservice was still C+, the food, pretty good, French Fries in Fat- Oh My, what could be bad?
*and we were going to the theater, the resturant wasn't very busy- talked to the the New manager, real nice Guy, we wish him well, I think he is there to help make things a bit + + better, as they should be- -

Wasn’t impressed with the food or service. Had an underdone burger and the selection of entres wasn’t as selective as it had been in the past e.g they changed the menu. Drinks were “ok”, I would have rather found somewhere else to enjoy food for the price.

I've been to this restaurant several times, both before and after their remodel. I like the ambiance; and the service was good.....except we had to ask twice for some bread. I think the waitress was just swamped. It's all good! I'd definitely recommend this AND go back!

Belcampo Meats was a big disappointment. The decor is “corporate”, sterile, although there is nice light from overhead sky
lights. We made reservations, but the place was empty at 12:30 on a Wednesday. The food was not what was expected from a place that prides itself on its meat. It was shocking, really. The burger tasted over aged, with the sort of metallic flavor that was worrying, like it had turned. The “Thai” Beef salad had no Thai flavor and the beef in it was weirdly chewy. A third guest with us ordered the lamb shawarma, and declared it the worst he’d ever had—besides having little flavor, it was tiny and wrapped in a flour tortilla-thing. It came with a huge pile of French fries because the server didn’t mention there was a choice of fries or a salad. No way would I go back.

Sadly the food is just not good. Fries to well done. Prime rib bit done well and not much meat for $52. Not worth it. I love the space. And the servers are so nice. But something is missing. Time to rethink the chef.

What a great discovery this place is. Beautiful and spacious, elegant and relaxed. The service is superb and the food is a dream come true for a person on a paleo or ketogenic or low carb diet. It amazes me that in a big city like L.A. we have access to farm fresh food. This is now my new "go to" place. I created my own meal by combining several sides and it was heavenly. The last time I ate bacon like that was when I was a little girl back in Czechoslovakia. I've been telling all my health conscious friends about this gem of a place.

I was excited to try Belcampo during DineLA. I figured it would give me a good chance to sample different dishes. The DineLA menu was disappointing. There was not as much variety as I hoped. Pretty much everything came with fries and you can’t substitute. I ordered the steak and I asked for medium rare and it came out almost well done. For a meat place, I expected the meat temperature to be accurate. I tried a piece of the burger and it was ok. The meal was just average at best. Nothing memorable about it. And, looking at the regular menu, it’s not worth the regular prices. The only upside of the meal was the server who didn’t miss a beat in making sure we were hydrated. I would definitely not be recommending this place to anyone.

I went to Belcampo for DineLA. I really enjoyed the food, but I do not think I would pay the typical price for what I got. The ambiance is great ---it is very well decorated and the seating is comfortable. Even though it was not busy, I felt that we were somewhat neglected by our waitress. (we did not end up getting the beers we ordered when we first were sat until we got our entree and it took quite some time to get our check). Overall, I think it was a solid DineLA meal and I am glad to have tried the restaurant, but I will not be rushing to return.

I've heard the food was so good and I was so disappointed when I went. I ordered the steak frites medium, when it came out it was medium well to done so had to have it remade. The taste of the steak had a weird taste to it. Fries were overdone. I'm sad to say didn't live up to the hype. Won't return to this establishment.

"We went for lunch on Dine L.A. My wife had the burger and beef tartare, which were quite good. We had high expectations for Belcampo because of their reputation for high quality meats. I had the chopped salad which was very good but with way too much dressing soaking it. Lesson #1: always get the dressing on the side. For my entree I had the Lamb Schwarma -- big mistake. The lamb was tough because it had hardly been cooked and was still red, and very chewy -- inedible. Schwarma is supposed to be spiced, roasted slowly, and thin-sliced. The menu also said it came with pita, cucumber, and shaved cabbage, The lamb came in a thin cracker, more like a tortilla than pita and was dwarfed by the huge pile of French fries -- not mentioned on the menu. I see that Schwarma isn't one of Belcampo's usual dishes, but staff should be trained to do a dish well if it's going to be added for DineLA. Lesson #2: play it safe and order dishes the kitchen is familiar with."

We did the dine LAmenu, great foods! Duck poutine was good with thick cut fries. Chicken wings had some of the Indian/Thai spices or curry flavors in it, tangy, spicy, sweet, savory...great dish! Burger was delicious, meat patty was tender and juicy. Steak was beautifully cooked to medium, delicious! Desserts were creme brûlée which came in just the right amount, not too much, not too little. And he matcha vanilla cake was quite good as well, we like that it’s not too sweet. Perfect ending to the lovely meal!

I love a couple of things on the menu ( tartar, bone Marrow, lamb) but the dine LA menu had this incredible amount of fries with first and second course( and not the good thin kind) and duck poutine was funky tasting, steak chewy. The most dramatic change was the decor...uncomfortable table that was a bizarre size making it a tight squeeze, the colors were strangely bright and beachy for a steakhouse. Just felt wrong. If we go back it will be for a cocktail and tartar at the bar and then we’re out.

Very good food -- only thing that marred the experience was that we ate there during "Dine LA" and a couple of things were off -- a curdled creme brulee being one of them-- not a good way to end a meal that was otherwise a good value.

While we have water here before and enjoyed the food, the DineLA dinner was a disappointment. The appetizers were good, but the steak was terrible! Actually inedible! Tough and streaked with fiddle. And no amount of contact with waitstaff and management had any impact. Then the desserts were no good. Come on Bel Campo! You can do better than that!
If I was a new customer I would not come back.

Belcampo was one of our favorite Los Angeles restaurants. Our families buy every holiday meat from Belcampo as well. But Dine LA at Belcampo was so disappointing.

Belcampo should have picked a Dine LA price point that would allow them to serve courses on par with their regular menu. It should be a sample of the restaurant, not the leftovers of the restaurant.

To make matters worse, our guest from Manhattan (who had never been to Belcampo) could not eat the famous Belcampo burger. So we paid our tab, tipped well, and left. It felt like a dirty $200, if you know what I mean.

To all Dine LA aficionados---don't do it!

Very good food, we enjoyed the Lunch special--beef tartar and lamb hamburger, but predominantly for meat lovers, it is really a butcher shop converted to a restaurant. It has incredible varieties of white and red meat---beef and pork cuts, and very good chicken, all organic. However, for people who prefer seafood--for people who like either sea food they have just one variety of fish (in fact when we walked in, the waiter told us they have no sea food and we almost walked out because one guest did not eat meat, then checked with the chef and came back and told us we were "lucky" they had it! For vegetarians, there is just one eggplant sandwich--unless you want to feast on lettuce and fries and maybe a couple of vegetables.

As a result, all of us enjoyed the meal and the wine.

This was my first time at Bel Campo. I was greeted by a very friendly host and taken to my table early. Service was excellent from the minute I sat down. The restaurant was very busy. Even though staff was taking care of many tables, never did I feel that me or my guest were neglected for even a minute. The menu has a lot of variety but know that this is mainly a meat restaurant. I had the caesar salad. While not a typical Italian caesar salad, the Bel Campo version is amazing. I highly recommend it either as a main course or as a starter to share. The portion is large. My friend and I shared a rib steak. I like my steak cooked medium rare and my friend likes her steak cooked well-done. The chef cut our steak and prepared each half to order! The fries were seasoned perfectly and we asked for crispy and go just what we asked for. Finally we were celebrating a birthday and our waiter brought over a delicious chocolate pudding dessert that was also plenty for two. I will go back to Bel Campo to try some of the other dishes for sure. Finally, don't be fooled when you enter the restaurant. The front of the establishment is a full butcher counter (you can choose your dinner meat and they will cook it for you). In the back of the butcher shop is a lovely restaurant with a full bar and nice wine list. Enjoy!

Not great. Went there with a friend New Year’s Eve. It wasn’t too crowded, but the restaurant was under-staffed. Our very congenial waiter disappeared for long stretches due to having to serve too many tables. As for the food: excellent wine, fresh garden salad but the bone-in ribeye steak was tough and mostly fatty. Disappointing. Should have gone with the filet mignon but at $62 was a bit on the pricey side.

In the year or so since our last visit, the dining room has been redesigned and has lost its earlier charm and warm ambiance. It now looks and feels like a high school cafeteria. The menu has also changed -- also not for the better-- and old standbys like the Shepherd's Pie have gone missing. We were told there was no Catch of the Day (one of our party wanted to order fish) because the local fishermen from whom the restaurant sources its seafood apparently weren't working that week. Altogether a disappointing experience and a shocking comedown from what used to be a wonderful dining experience. We have no interest in ever returning.

Christmas Eve dinner. Christina was our server....lacked enthusiasm to say the least and not attentive to checking on us for drink refills or anything else. Our holiday choice and reason for choosing Belcampo was for the organic grass fed beef filet, which was unavailable. This was a huge disappointment for our holiday experience. We settled on the steak frites which featured a tough cut of chopped sirloin. Nothing special for our special occasion.

Bel Campo is a beautifully designed restaurant/bar/butcher shop and aesthetically lovely but the food leaves a bit to be desired. Some menu items are tasty (particularly the lamb burger) but others fall flat in execution even though they sound delicious on the menu. For example the tallow wrapped steak was rather tough and served only with potato puree -- not terrible, but an altogether lackluster experience for the priciest steak on the menu.
