Beer Belly is known for providing generous portions of hearty pub fare and drinks. The focus of the menu is on duck and fried foods. Some of the specialties at Beer Belly include the grilled cheese sandwich, spicy chicken wings, duck fat fries with duck French dip and the deep-fried Twinkie. Wet your whistle with a great selection of craft beers and other beverages.
Happy Hour at Beer Belly is from Monday through Friday between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. Enjoy specials on a number of appetizers and drinks. The restaurant is family friendly with high chairs available for small children. Lunch is a great time for families to get together at Beer Belly.
Seriously... Duck Fat... it's wonderful. The Duck French Dip is amazing. You'll never want one with Roast Beef again.
We loved going to Beer Belly before attending a concert at The Wiltern! Definitely not a light meal...so don't try coming here if you're on a diet!
Good food and beer. A little loud for conversation, but we had a nice time.
First time, and loved it? Waiters were friendly and responsive. If you eat healthy most of the time, and you want a place to indulge your palate with the most comfort oozing, rich, goodness, you have found your place. Nice selection of craft beers. Husband was in heaven.
Excellent chicken dishes and the bacon fries are out of this world, good.
I tried the pork belly chips, the cucumber-mango salad, the Q-Dilla, and the snickerdoodle. The salad was fresh and had bursts of tanginess. The pork belly chips were so-so, a bit too dry/chewy for my tastes. The Q-Dilla was maybe the best quesadilla I've had--hints of smokiness, good balance of cheese and meat, and the pickled onions and jalapeños with the salsa created a delicious riot of flavors. I was not a hug fan of the snickerdoodle, but I was stuffed at that point, too. It was okay.
I tried the Nose Candy and Hammertime beers. The Nose Candy was my preferred--as it promised, great smell and taste. The Hammertime was a so-so double IPA.
Went here on a Friday night, I suggest doing reservations to be on the safe side. Food came out in a timely manner and the Happy Hour menu has good selection. Definitely get the duck fat fries and the grilled cheese.
This past Saturday, my husband and I had tickets to see a concert, Brandi Carlile at The Wiltern. We wanted to grab dinner beforehand so did a little research and came across this place as we wanted something that was not Korean BBQ, sushi or any other Asian cuisine. This place had great reviews on Yelp and after looking at the menu, we were intrigued and decided to make a reservation.
I highly recommend making a reservation as we had one for 5:30 - when we got there it was pretty busy for a Saturday that early in the evening and even while we were waiting for our table, the wait for a table of 4 before 6 PM was at least 30 minutes without one.
The beer selection was awesome - loved that they had a sour beer on tap. I would categorize the food as unique pub food. We had the feta & fennel salad (which was a nice light way to start the meal - raspberry vinaigrette was superb), the 4 cheese mac & cheese (absolutely delicious - comes out in a little cast-iron skillet, piping out and loved that the top was slightly charred) and the duck French dip (the pickled shallots made this sandwich).
And our server was absolutely amazing! As soon as our beers were getting low, he came by right away to ask us if we wanted another round and he was knowledgeable when it came to the beers and the food.
I would definitely come back here again anytime I am in K-Town!
Loved the catfish and chips and also the deep fried Oreos!
If you are in the mood for great food in a unique spot this is your place!
Everything we had was amazing.
4 guests and 6 different plates.
Pork belly chips are the bomb! Love the deep fried oreos too! They are simply the best!
This place in amazing! All the food it cook fresh and to order which is amazing! My favorite are the brussels sprots!! Do order those at least once you'll love them!
I think this restaurant is overrated. It wasn't bad but it wasn't super great ...
The food was good. The cheddar puff pastry with braised short rib was delicious. Death by Duck was good even though I am not a fan of duck. Small but decent beer selection. The wings were good too nothing out of the ordinary.
Loved everything we tried. Love the local craft beer list, Loaded Mac n cheese, Death by Duck fries, pork belly chips were amazing and the fried s'mores pop tart with chocolate chip ice cream and peanut butter was a great way to end the dinner. Definitely worth the trip! Staff was great too.
930pm dinner. got the fried chicken which was good. also got the death by duck fries. fatty but great with beer. they have a number of beer selections. the staff were great and was checking on us frequently.
Interesting and eclectic menu...even the salads were great.
Saw its interview on Food Network a while back, been eager to try it for ourselves. Its famous duck fries was okay. Duck french was way overpriced for what it is - with a few thin slices of duck in a baguette for $15. I would not go there again.
Food and service at Beer Belly were good. For a business meeting, Beer Belly isn't the place. It's way too noisy. And, despite our reservation, we were asked to leave after two hours. It's a very small place that's geared towards a quick bite and a quick drink. Not a place to hang out for any length of time.
Awesome, awesome. Definitely want to go back...there's more food to try. We had the grilled cheese. Absolutely the best grilled cheese, I've ever had. Like french toast with cheese and bacon. Yum? And the loaded mac and cheese - delicious. We split these entrees and were more than full even taking some of the mac and cheese home. So I would not say portions are small. Oh and the watermelon beer was very light and refreshing and, of course, delicious! Loved this place.
Beer Belly is an energetic craft beer bar situated in the heart of Koreatown. It features new takes on comfort food. We had the Qdilla which was full of complex flavors and packed just enough heat to make it interesting. The Duck French dip was flavorful especially the duck jus which was infused with duck flavor without being salty or greasy. The slices of duck were tender and flavorful and when combined with the horseradish aoli and melted cheese made the duck behave more like roast beef rather than the thinly shaved duck breast that it was. The Bacon Fat fries were flavorful and covered with bits of savory bacon. The wine list is limited, but after all it's named Beer Belly for a reason. Entrees are large enough to share and should be shared, making Beer Belly a great destination for groups of grazing foodies looking for a night out with decadent fried foods and Cheese items.
We saw this on TV and was expecting more than what we got. We knew the menu selection was limited prior to our visit but the food was nothing too special. We were surprised. Left thinking we should have just gone to a nearby restaurant instead.
We decided to try Beer Belly based upon it appearing on the show Diner's, Drive-ins, and Dives. Amazing is the best way to sum up our experience. The menu is small but the food is prepared perfectly. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Pork belly chips are to die for. Grilled broccoli was fantastic. Bacon fat fries are delicious.
If you're looking for original, well-prepared comfort food paired with an outstanding beer selection, this is your place. I hate brussels sprouts, but I gobbled up the ones our group had ordered. The server we had was excellent and made great recommendations. The vibe is lively, youthful and globally diverse. Will definitely return!
Stopped by with my wife for the 'duck fries' and was not disappointed! This place is a classic must try!
Went here with a group of 8 and we all tasted each others dishes. We all agreed the food was fabulous! My personal favorite was the grilled cheese. To Die For!
The waiter's knowledge of both the menu and craft beer selection was excellent. He was helpful, honest and right on the money when it came to his recommendations. Great little place tucked away in Korea town. Food selection is unique and tastes phenomenal.
Luv'd the food, server was friendly, a fun time to be had by all!
great service and great food, cant go wrong with this spot...friendly staff and great selection of food.
Service was great. Definitely the reservation came in handy, otherwise an hour wait. Great selection of beers & highly recommend the mac and cheese.
It was a great place for food, beer, and friends.
A reservation is definitely required; got packed really quickly, but not surprised because this is a great place!
El major lugar para disfrutar con la familia, son amigos de los niños eso es un 10 para padres, la comiga riquisima el servicio lo major!!!
Was my first time going to Beer Bally, my experience was Awesome. They had a great beer selection and the Best Snickerdolle cookie dessert EVER.... worth all the Wait. I truly enjoy the atmosphere and our waiter had a good attitude and answer our questions when we ask him about each dish.
Great, uncomplicated gastropub. Beer Belly is about a block from the Wiltern, where we were seeing an 8:00 show. It was a perfect start to the night! We shared the death by duck fries, spicy Caesar salad, buttermilk fried chicken and jidori hot wings with buffalo/blue sauce. Service was good; we were in and out quickly. And everything was delicious!
The options for beer on tap are very good. I like that the selection changes from time to time. Tried the duck fat fries and they were good as expected. Saw this place on a tv show and had to try it when I went to L.A. Mostly this place is a great place to drink some beers with friends and eat some finger foods.
I always like coming here for the food and drinks, but not all the servers here are very attentive.
Beer Belly was great. I've always wanted to try this hidden gem in the middle of mid-Wilshire/ Koreatown. We tried the duck fat fries and the Brussels sprouts and they were great. We got there at 5:30pm on a Thursday and it got packed quickly. It's small so it gets loud and crowded, get there early and enjoy some munchies and beer. This is not health food, it's comfort food. Go ahead and indulge.
A gold mine. Saw this place on diners, drive ins, and dives after my sister mentioned her wonderful dining experience. Very much pleased with the place. The host and waiters are awesome. Food is fabulous.
Forget your diet and indulge, it will be worth it. The menu and craft beer selection is great. The food is delicious and provides exactly what it promises. The snack foods and sides will precede the the entrees, but they explained that and it was ok, it was a fun experience and worth it.
