Brunch was terrible. The menu listed here is NOT accurate. Food was terrible and the music was terribly loud.
Great beer selection, good food and a fun, boisterous atmosphere. Definitely worth a repeat visit and a recommendation for anyone looking for a good burger and beer.
The food was amazing and a great value. It was a little louder than we are used to, but not crazy.
We had an awesome evening. Good food, great service, nice people around. We don't like that the cleaning staff asks for a dollar in the restrooms.
Food was not as described on menu. Waitress was argumentative. Desk staff apologized but hope menus are a corrected to reflect actual food ingredients
Been here alot basically to meet up with friends or hit the place prior going out to eat. I brought my husband here for our anniversary and it was a very pleasant evening. He loved it - we got your basic but very tasty wings. We split a burger - great fries and they are large enough to share.
Good service - don't drink beer but the wine was your basic type.
All in all definitely would recommend it before a show or whenever you just wanna eat and not make a big night of it. I like this place alot......even the downstairs bar is fun.
Had a great burger and fries at the bar. The bartender let me taste a few beers before ordering. Nice selection of burgers and salads.
I went here for dinner by myself. The beer list was very good, the server was great (checked in regularly, made recommendation for dessert). The portions sizes were good, the food was excellent, and they had the wild card game on. It has a pub atmosphere. Got to try a stout I have not had. I will go back here the next time I am in NY.
Only beers in bottle were available, the quality of food not excellent. So we were not satisfied.
We had a great time, service was a little slow, even though they weren’t very busy. Not bad overall though.
Not great. Food was blah- service was blah... it did not live up to the reviews it was given.
Great food and a good variety of beers. We were served quickly and everyone enjoyed their food.
Went pre-show and is great place for this if coming out of Port Authority bus terminal. Restaurant is to the right on 40th when you come out. Service was quick. Done within hour from time we arrived to time we left. Food tasty. This was lunch time and not crowded by any means. Half the price of near theatre restaurants and nowhere near the crowds.
Great venue for sports and has a wide selection of draught beers
Food and service also good
When we walked into Beer Authority it smelled like a dive bar which is exactly what the first floor is. Luckily the restaurant is upstairs and it was open and fun and not smelly. The window seats offer great views of the street activity at 40th and Eighth. The beer menu was huge with great info on each option. The food menu offered good options. The classic sliders and fries were excellent. The butternut squash salad was amazing. Fun place for a group. We had lunch there and it wasn’t very crowded so not sure how noisy it might be on a packed night.
Immer wieder schön dort das Bitburger zu genießen :-)
Went here on a Tuesday night. This was a good place to meet up with friends form NJ. very convenient and they have almost 100+ in beer and wine selection. Food was great. They have trivia Every Tuesdays. So come and join the fun. You might win awesome prices like a round of shots for the whole group, or a bucket of beer. Live sports. They have specials if any NY teams are playing.
Laid back, sports bar like feel. Food was good, we especially liked the meatballs.
We asked our server if the TV near us would have the Giants/Eagles game and her reply was first "I'm a Steelers fan" and then "I don't know, I'm not a manager". What? And then she made us close out early because she had to get to her "second job" (that's great, I have one, too!) but we still saw her for an hour after that, continuing to help other tables. Her attitude didn't make sense and really annoyed us. We also had to flag her down repeatedly, as she never checked on us during the day - and we were there for at least four hours.
Definitely great for groups!!
Big space, top hit music, convinient location! Food is good! Service is great! It was little too loud/noisy for 2 people conversation.
Great spot for casual dining and good beer. Roof top dining with views of time square. Staff is friendly. Food was delicious.
Our server was fantastic! He made excellent recommendations and remembered each person in our party and what type of beer they like. It was a little loud, but not too packed, so we were still easily able to move around and converse. Food was great! We had the platter with mussels, quesadilla, pita with buffalo chicken dip, and nachos! The wings were loved! Mac and Cheese and smothered tots were amazing! The strawberries on the Strawberry Pecan salad were so perfectly ripe! Prices were reasonable for NYC, midtown and the garment district, so can't really complain! We will definitely be back!
Waitress, Laura, was aces. BBQ ribs are super with and without sauce (Get it on side). Comfy for singles.
We LOVE Beer Authority. We show up quite often during the summer-- before or after theater or basketball games at MSG. Sometimes we go before our event and come back after for another round. Never too crowded. Great for groups. Beer list is great/well-rounded, food is fantastic. Really love Beer Authority and highly recommend it.
It was my first time, but is was value, convenient and cozy.
Quite nice food of being bar food. Fantastic range of beer - many of them on tap. Friendly and quick service. However, VERY noisy - difficult to conversate without shouting.
Enjoyed a cold beer, good casual dinner, and live music. It is noisy, but outside bar patio offers a way to get away from the noise. It just was too hot that day for us to sit outside. Service was not snappy, but nice.
Anniversary
Beer was great. Steak sandwich lacked flavor. The tater tots with cheese and bacon were delicious. Soooo loud.
Good quesadillas and excellent service in a lively sports-oriented atmosphere.
I love it!!!
The Beer Authority is in a great location, convenient for both folks coming in from New Jersey as well as Manhattan. Great food and a good beer selection. I've been there a few times, this was the first time when there was a band, which added to the experience. Fun place.
Another great trip to beer authority - good food and great beer selection! The only note for this visit which was a little weird was that our waitress changed toward the end of the meal without us being told, and not due to a change of shifts. So our original waitress was still working and I asked her for the check, but she pointed me to someone else. Otherwise, great!
Came here to celebrate my 30th birthday. They had a corner table reserved for me with a beautiful Times Square view. Service and drinks were fantastic.
Food was okay. Could lower the sodium but good
Atmosphere was good, service was horrible. Never once did the server check back if we wanted more to drink. She took our empty beer glasses, no offer of another drink. we didn't see her again until 45 minutes later when she brought the check. Beer list was not as large as they claim it to be. And drafts they did have werent that impressive. They made themselves look better online than they actually were. Food was okay. Overall with all the great restaurants NYC has to offer, we'd never go back.
A great place for a burger and a beer. The beer menu was awesome and I chose a couple drafts from Anchor Brewery - very tasty! Had the Patty Melt and it was one of the best I've ever had! We had a party of 7 and everyone enjoyed the place. Being next door to the Port Authority, a lot of people might think this is a tourist trap spot but it wasn't at all. Lots of locals enjoying a drink or 2 and some apps after a day at the office. Will definitely hit this place again!
Great ambiance with live sports with sound! The food was pretty good too and the beer options are amazing!
Beer Authority does one thing really, really well: beer selection. They rotate their selection regularly, and the night I went, there were 87 beers on tap, one cask, and just over 100 in bottles.
Accompanying the great beer selection is just the sort of bar food you'll want. This is a restaurant you to knowing that if you want to do it right, you'll come out with a thin sheen of oil on your fingers. That being said, everything I've had on my three visits have been tasty, with a special mention to a few of the less common offerings, like the lamb burger and the taco dip.
However, know going into Beer Authority that given its location (heart of Times Square, across the street from Port Authority) and size (an entry-level bar, the massive second floor dining room, and a rooftop space), they've got to pay the rent. All of the beers are just a dollar or two more expensive than you'd like for it to be, with the vast majority of drafts being $8 outside of happy hour. If anything, the pricing incentivizes trying rarer beers, because if a Lagunitas IPA that you can get at most neighborhood bars for $5 or $6 is $8 here, why not try something less common for the same price.
The quality of everything is really great, and I have come back for a reason, but the value keeps me from bumping this to a 5-star review. But if you're in the neighborhood, are a beer fan, and want traditional pub food, it's a fantastic pick.
Very good place to go for some beers and good bar food. Very good service and affordable prices. Recommended!!
