Bedford Village Inn Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I have been married nearly 20 years. We rarely go out to an elegant restaurant, but this was a special night (a late Valentine's celebration). The experience was a perfect 10. The place, host, wait staff, food, ambiance - all made for a delightful experience. If you want to fall in love again, take your Bride to Bedford Village Inn!
Overall we enjoyed our dining experience, service was very good and we enjoyed good food with a nice bottle of wine. The only negative aspect was that we had to listed to another very rude diner go on and on about how wonderful he was and how he always makes the right decisions while his wife/girlfriend knows nothing and always makes stupid mistakes and this poor woman cried through her entire dinner. At one point another diner said something to him and asked him to keep his language clean but overall it made the small dining room very uncomfortable - it is a tough one to address for the staff but it was so bad that I think they should have recognized this fact and reacted in some way.
Excellent service. Excellent food. Excellent ambiance. Except for a couple of occurrences of classless behavior by customers it was nearly perfect. One of those occurrences happened in the dining room with seated guests. It was handled with meticulous care and professionalism. The other happened at the hostess podium and involved a woman in blue jeans exclaiming her glee at selling her "million-dollar house." She went on and on and on as my wife and I waited a few minutes for our table. It was awkward, loud, and unfortunately ignored.
We really enjoyed our Valentines Day dinner at BVI. We were greeted warmly and found all of the staff to be attentive and helpful. The food was fantastic, we both had the Filet Mignon, it was great. Looking forward to eating outside this summer. After dinner we looked around and liked the variety of dining options from the tavern to the bar upstairs called Corks to the main dining room, very cozy.
The Bedford Village Inn provides an absolutely lovely dining experience. Our breakfast was perfect -- from the homemade jams to the perfectly prepared scrambled eggs and lean, wood smoked bacon. Our quiet table looked out on the winter ice sculptures. The hostess and waitstaff were welcoming and professional. The 1790 farmhouse is a gem, tastefully decorated and elegant.
Service was exceptional. Wonderful Whisky selection (I discovered Oban!). Truly a great place for that special date, especially if you are seated next to the fire place like we were. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Must say that the cocktails were good too. What did we have? The apps were Hand-crafted gnocchi with duck confit and a tuna tataki - presentation and taste were outstanding. Main course: The Chicken breast that had the right spices and juicyness. My wife enjoyed the Scottish Salmon Filet. The dinner was also accompanied with a basket of mixed breads baked right at the inn. Missing? A violin or a piano.
I went there for my birthday. I had been there before and loved it ,except for a Thanksgiving meal two years ago which disappointed us. Everything was absolutely perfect. We went on a Sunday night and walked into an empty dining room; that was fine with us. (Shortly thereafter another party was seated). Everything was absolute perfection from the delicious homemade breads, wonderful salad, and scrumptious filet (which my husband also had). Our friends had the salmon and chicken and also enjoyed those dishes thoroughly. Ourwaitress Meeghan (sorry if I spelled that incorrectly!) was extremely gracious and very knowledgeable. Our meals were definitely worth the price. BVI you get an A+ from me. Can't wait until the next special occas
This is a lovely, elegant inn. I enjoy going here for special occassions such as birthdays or a Christmas meal. The atmosphere is what you would expect from a colonial era inn. I recommend reservations as they seem to be relatively busy at all times of year. The food is delicious and the waitstaff and hostess were professional but warm and friendly as well.
We had a family lunch outing, and the food was very good and the service was outstanding. Wheelchair access to the restaurant was good, although handicapped parking could be a problem if there are more than one wheelchair patrons. Otherwise, very good and I will go there again to try more items on their menu.
We took my Mom there for her birthday and they had put little streamers and confetti on the table making it quite festive! It was a lovely touch and made her feel special. Food was delicious and the service was wonderful, but she gave us a little too much time alone at the table. It is on the pricey side, but I would recommend for any special function you may be thinking about.
We celebrated our anniversary at the Bedford Village Inn, and would highly recommend it for such special occasions. The restaurant was beautifully decorated. Our food was superbly prepared. And our waiter regaled us with tales of the Presidents and presidential candidates he has waited on over the years. This is well worth the drive from Massachusetts.
We had yet another magical time at the Inn. This experience was a Christmas gift to all the women in the family and one loan male, my grand daughers fiancee. I did this last year also and will do it again next year. They absolutely loved it and are already looking forward to next year! I would rather give memories! Thanks to all of you for a wonderful evening.
This was my first visit, and overall I was impressed with the atmosphere and food. Everything was very well done, and the holiday decorations were very pretty. Our actual server was a bit forgetful and actually bad-mouthed a menu item to the table behind me. We will probably go back to the more casual "Tavern" side for lunch, but will stick with our usual first choices of Hanover Street Chophouse or Firefly for special occasions.
We dined at the Bedford Village Inn last year at this time and it was spectacular. The Christmas decorations were overwhelmingly beautiful. Everywhere we looked it was so breathtaking, a real Currier & Ives feeling. The food was excellent as well as the service. We talked about it all year and couldn't wait to go back this year. We dined there on 12/16/2011 and were very disappointed. The decorations were mediocre at best. One room was decorated in red & green with an abundance of garland & lights, lovely. I would describe the overall decorations of the restaurant to be of a modern take and minimal. Cold and uninteresting. The food was average. Three of us has sirloin and all 3 steaks were overdone, the quality did not match the price.
BVI is a delight at any time but is very special at Christmas with gorgeous decorations. The wait staff was very friendly but it is designed to have a leisurely meal....so don't come here if you are on a deadline to get to the theatre after dinner. The menu has changed somewhat to more of a lunch menu in the past and I appreciated that. Over-all our experience was wonderful...sitting and chatting, eating very good food for a long, leisurely time on a bright sunny winter afternoon.
We have enjoyed the Bedford Inn before. This was our third trip there from Mass. The location is great, the service very good--not extroidinary, but the food at those prices was not up to standard. I ordered a NY Sirloin--medium rare--at best it was medium tending toward well done. It was supposed to come with a Veal Demi-glaze--but I think they forgot mine. Two others ordered the steak and it looked like they had sufficient amount on the meat. The potatoes beneath the steak were almost non-existent, the green beans were good and nicely al-dente. Others at our table had the Salmon and the Halibut and I didn't hear any complaints. The cheese board is always a hit, the crab cakes were outstanding and the oysters were excellent.
