Bedford & Co. Ratings and Reviews
Drinks order forgotten.. several food items brutally overcooked to the point of being effectively inedible (thankfully removed from the bill without question).. (re)requested our 'shared' steaks to be sliced by the kitchen; they came back hacked into odd shaped chunks.. the bathrooms were an abhorrent disgrace, they stank and were filthy..
Second time here and once again the food was outstanding, particularly the octopus and market fish of the day. not crowded so we had room to spread out but could be tight on very busy nights. Wait staff was excellent, did not get lost after taking our orders for drinks or entrees. Definitely more returns are in my future.
Dinner was delicious and I particularly loved the rigatoni dish - outstanding! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. My only critique is I found it to be quite loud for a Wednesday. The music actually got louder around 10:30 when there were less people. Otherwise, I would recommend B&C to friends.
Fantastic food. We had the roasted beets, grilled artichokes and burrata appetizers - each was delicious and perfectly done. The beets in particular have a smoky feel that is at once intriguing but not overpowering.
We had the whole branzino as the main course - it was impeccably prepared and was absolutely delicious. They debone the fish and it really enhances the experience - the fish was just perfect!!
Excellent wine and beer list - we experienced some trouble with a pesky cork in the second bottle of wine and the servers went above and beyond to rectify it to our satisfaction. They were incredibly attentive without being annoying and added to an already wonderful experience.
I would encourage anyone to try Bedford - it was just a delightful, delicious experience
I’ll go straight to the point. I paid with cash, the server assumes I don’t want any change back. My girlfriend had to convince me to let go of a 75% tip.
It’s annoying enough when a waitstaff in any restaurant asks if I want some change back..
At the end, I just had to ask for a receipt while our waiter fishes through the garbage for a copy of our bill.. “Sorry about that” he says.. as me and my lover looked at each other and quietly laughed!!
service was slow and we didnt even see the specials brunch menu until after we had left. The wrong meal was delivered to one member in our group and the bottomless option was almost forgotten - we had to keep reminding our waitress to come over with more champagne. I was disappointed in the brunch overall. The good thing was that the avocado toast had a very healthy portion of avocado which i always like to see.
Quirky place with remarkably good food (the 4 course pumpkin tasting menu especially creative; other 3 meals also well-prepared, flavorful). Service good, esp as it was busy; all staff were well-trained, friendly and professional. Noise level was very loud at first (the piped in music, which in turn pushed conversation noise up) , but they promptly and graciously turned it down to a fine level when requested & then it was a good level of buzziness while OK for conversation. Light level oddly bright for an otherwise cozy space. Somehow it all worked and we had a great meal & a good visit with friends. Definitely will return, especially with friends going home via GCT train.
Chose this place because of it's being labeled a Neighborhood Gem by fellow reviewers...NOPE...it's a just hotel restaurant and the service and flavors we both very mediocre. We waited a long time for the soup of the day and a bibb lettuce salad. Butternut squash soup was so bland, just pureed squash flavor except for the few bites that my spoon also scooped the dollop of raisin chutney at the bottom of the bowl. Sherry vinaigrette on the salad was the same level of dullness, just sherry vinegar and oil. Table next to us (arrived 15 min later) received their entrees before our burgers came out...an we were given no apology or explanation for the slow service. We did however get the pleasure of watching the manager show off her food styling and photography skills as she played with my food, snapping pictures with her phone. Bleh!
Third visit, service getting worse, food still good.
The service is really slow here even when the place isn't packed. Took a long time to get our food. Food still good. Mushrooms are great. Octopus good too although portion is small for the price. Fries didn't have flavor but they were hot.
The food was great - our only issue was that they were out of many things on an already small menu. Their signature whisky drink couldn't be made. We ordered an appetizer only to be told they ran out. Two of the mains they were out of...including steak. Despite incredible service, the lack of options still left the experience to be desired.
This restaurant was in our hotel and as Hilton Honors members we had the choice of points or free breakfast. We took the breakfast and were surprised at the great and filling selection for the Continental breakfast. We felt it was a far better value to get the included continental than apply the $10.00 towards a hot breakfast. The yogurt was fresh Greek and creamy with fresh fruit, the muffin was hot and delicious and the oatmeal was very good with great accommodates. My husband ordered the chocolate croissant and other pastry choices with his oatmeal. We were full and we loved that it wasn't a buffet. Everything came to us on a charming platter. Very good for a hotel included breakfast!
The service was exceptional! Bedford & Co. is elegant without being stuffy. All the while, providing top-notch food and well-informed service from all of its staff. In a part of Midtown East that I often find lacks great food establishments, this place is a gem!
