Beaujolais Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Our first dinner last year was memorable beyond words. This experience was so different. Our table (with a reservation) was 35 minutes late. Service was even slower. Two in the party had steaks, which were served cold. We wanted to order more drinks, but could never get server's attention. I doubt we will be back any time soon.
Beaujolais is rapidly becoming our birthday/anniversary tradition. The service is impeccable, the meals are deliciously crafted and, on a quieter night, the setting is cozy. Outside dining, with the surrounding lawn and river across the street, is also a treat.
First of all - it was New Years Eve - so probably unusually busy. While the food was very good - 3 of the 6 people received their main course cold. This is really not acceptable in a restaurant like Beaujolais. It can - and did- happen But attention to detail should be routine here. We have dined here twice before when in Nevada - and enjoyed both other times
But I would have to say - this was not up to expectation. -
We were celebrating our anniversary so we wanted a “special” restaurant with a warm ambiance, great food and good service. Beaujolais fulfilled all of our requirements. We had eaten at their former location 4 or 5 years ago and their move to their new location really made a difference in the total dining experience. While the dining room was full it was not noisy and we did not feel crowded by other tables being too close. The atmosphere is romantic and classy in the repurposed former house by the river. The bar area is warm and inviting: great cocktails, too. The menu is varied enough to please a variety of diners including non meat indulgers. Our food was well prepared, fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. We will definitely return.
We asked our waitress to possibly move us as we were cold at the windows table. She was not too impressed with our request and reluctantly switched up the heat, she was not overly polite either. The food was delicious as usual, marred a bit by the attitude of the waitress.
The table configuration upon arrival was bizarre. We requested seating near the window for 7. That was possible but the arrangement was an L.
No one wants to sit at a L shaped tables with them tee couples and a matriarch. The server moved us the the middle which was ok but every time the servers opened the side door a breeze of frigid air roared in every five minutes or so. The serving size were paltry. Two tablespoons of mashed potatoes one broccoli spear and a piece of fish. The steak frites was also nothing special. The service was also slow and the meals did not arrive together for 7 people. Overall it was really disappointing and it only cost us over $500. A lot could be improved and would have to be before I ever come back or make a referral.
We've been here many times in the past. Last Sunday really disappointed. It was a birthday celebration, they gave us the quiet table in the corner we asked for. The food was good, no complaints there. The service was PAINFULLY SLOW. Tectonic plates move faster. Took 2 1/2 hours for the entire meal. People who arrived 30 minutes after us on either side of our table were served every single course before we were. Waited and dwidled our thumbs before every course. Almost walked out after waiting 30 minutes for desert. Beaujolais was my husband's favorite restaurant, which is why he picked it for his birthday. I doubt we will ever be back, despite having gone there many many times over many many years. Avoid for special occasions. Not worth the aggravation.
Food is Fantastic but the portions are small. The vibe is great and possibly a place I will stop in the future for a drink and an appetizer but the value for $$ is arguably the most over priced in Reno. Party of 4 with appetizers and deserts (I brought the wine and paid the $20 per bottle corking fee) and one extra bottle of wine was over $600.00 with tip.
Unfortunately, we hit them at a busy time. Our meal was good, as it came to us, but extrememly spotty service. We ordered at 7:00 PM and got our entrees at 9:00 PM. This was a sub par night for the restaurant as we have had much better service before. But, frankly they overbooked and couldn't keep pace with the orders.
We enjoyed an excellent meal in a wonderful setting. The restaurant is a converted house in an old residential neighborhood along the river. The staff is attentive but not hovering. The seating is very comfortable and the tables aren't on top of each other. The lighting is a little dark (I saw some customers using their phones to read the menu), but I thought it was perfect. Behind the bar is an open kitchen where you can see the chefs at work, and I'm told they change the menu every day. Everything we had was delicious, especially the goat cheese tartine appetizer and the amazing dessert selection. And the service was outstanding -- I am vegetarian; and although there were no vegetarian entrees on the menu, they prepared an excellent meal of roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, and a terrific roasted pepper sauce. I am also a non-drinker, but they prepared a "mocktail" for me that was unique and outstanding (I actually ended up getting two of them). For my wife, she couldn't decide between a couple different wines to go with her entree, so they brought her a small glass of each so she could taste and decide. All in all a great experience; and although it might be a little pricey to go all the time, we will definitely be back.
Very pleasant dining experience! The food was outstanding and creative. The endive salad with pears and hazelnut dressing was amazing. The meats dishes (venison and steak) were excellent, very tender. We shared the escargot as an appetizer and they were perfect. The butter sauce was great and the escargot were just the right size. We shared the Gourmand dessert - a set of tiny bites ... perfect. The service was super friendly and kind.
Truly one of the worse dining experiences I have ever had, first had a 715 reservation didn’t get seated until 730 no big deal initially. It took 25 mins before anyone actually came to Table and introduced themselves as our server, or three apps all of them below par, and shortly after we place app order they took entree order. While waiting for the entree to come out told server to please clear apps which is annoying and was ask if we wanted entree to be put in to kitchen? What? You haven’t put our order in? Why not? No great response, cancelled dinner order and then it took another 20 mins to get bill I felt like I was being held prisoner in dining hell, I couldn’t even pay and leave quickly.. I will never go back to this Restaurant and will tell anyone who asked they should skip it. It’s unfortunate cause it use to be a place I looked forward to going
Sorry but I was not overall impressed with my experience. Service was slow, but waiter was knowledgeable about menu and food. Plate presentation was average, appetizer was delicious, entrée was average, desserts were average as well in taste and presentation.
Hands down, the best meal I have ever eaten. My husband and I could not stop talking about the food the entire time that we were eating, and continued to rave about it for hours after. We were blown away. It was obvious that each individual component in the dish was given the same attention as it would have had been given if the ingredient were to stand alone. To make it better, we are vegetarian and happened to go on a night in which a vegetarian option was not featured on the menu. The chef made sure to accommodate us anyway. Although pricey, it is clear that the chef of this restaurant had a true passion for food, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a special night out.
Great restaurant! Nice Decor and Spectacular food. Highly recommend the Restaurant!
One drawback... Martini glasses are Very small and not a good value. This may seem like a minor item until you order the drink. The martini glasses are unusually small. This is probably a good profit center for them. It doesn't matter if you drink alcohol or not it just sets the tone for the overall experience.
I would go back, but I would take my own bottle of wine because the corkage is less then two martinis.
We were planning on attending a theater performance at 7pm with a 5:15 reservation. We were a party of six, and arrived 10” early and were seated immediately. The waitress explained the menu and came back some time later for drink orders which she confused. One in our party ordered a glass of Cabernet. She came back with samples of two other wines. Then she came back to take starter orders, still not having delivered all of the drinks. We reminded her of our theater time. She took our dinner orders and brought starts. At 6:20 we still did not have our dinners. When served, one entre was wrong but it was too late to wait for a correction. We didn’t have time for desert or coffee.
The food under different circumstances might have been better received. As it was we felt our dining experience was neither enjoyable or a good value.
