Waitress was a bit off putting, but everything else was fantastic. I have eaten here before, and the male waiter is amazing!
The Beaujolais Bistro is an example of excellence in dining. Gracious service, a rich variety of options, and, of course, extremely good food. We highly recommend this restaurant and plan to return next time we are in Reno.
Friend visiting from SF!
Really an excellent meal, service, and dining experience. Will be returning as regulars!!
My husband and I had "Date Night" and both ordered the Prix Fixe menu. It was the most beautifully presented and delicious set of courses we can remember having in recent memory. The wine pairings were also delightful. A wonderful evening, beautiful setting and attentive waiter. The bartender has created some new seasonal exotic cocktails and we enjoyed one with Mescal. Unusual and multi layers of flavors. Exceptional evening!
Took my daughter for a celebration dinner here last Saturday night. Great time, laid back atmosphere, great food:)
I already filled out a whole review so don't know why I got another one, Chloe was wonderful and the food is always great!
Authentic French food. Wine list extensive but expensive. Love the old house remodeled on the Truckee River. Great mixed drinks from the bartender.
I really enjoy going here, but this last time the service was too much, actually I guess it wasn't enough, not enough servers. We brought our own bottle of wine $25.00 corkage fee> But then it took our waitress another 15 minutes to open it and put in decanter than we waited, and waited and finally poured it ourselves, after 45 minutes she asked to take our order but we had some questions about the menu items she was a little bit offended like she could be waiting on other tables instead of answering our questions, that kinda upset me, since we had been waiting now over a hour and you don't want to take the time to answer our questions. So we ordered and the food is always wonderful but the service of waiting and then our serving acting like we are taking up her time, well after a 2hrs and 15 minutes of seating and eating we were finally done and it will be a while before I go back. There are way to many French Restaurants in Reno that are just as good if not better I will be taking my business elsewhere, my time is precious to me too.
Good neighborhood restaurant, casual, friendly. Halibut was very fresh, cooked perfectly so were the scallops but veggies sparce. Bread not very good, tasteless. Good wine list. Cocktails good although a little over priced.Ordered creme brulee for dessert and it was not set, but tasted good.
I've been dining here for over four years beginning at their previous downtown location. The quality of the food has always been first rate. I have 'converted' over 6 of my friends to dine here as well. And we are mostly all from the Sacramento area of even the Bay Area. If I could afford the cost and time, I would dine here several times a week. A most pleasant experience! Worth the two hour drive each way. How many restaurants would you drive 4 hours for? This is one for me.
I have postponed coming here for too long. I originally wanted to try the Beaujolais Bistro when it was in its old location. With so many oldie but goody places we regularly eat at in Reno we kept going to the other great places to eat. For our anniversary my wife and I committed to come here for our 6 year anniversary. I guess I'am glad we postponed it for this long and came on this day. I was impressed with the food. I can say that everything I had was excellent.
The actual house this bistro is in and the trees and neighborhood reminds me our my parents house. They have out door dining, but we wanted to dine inside. Consider they do have a $25 corkage fee if you bring your own wine, we only brought one. Nice warm and tasty bread arrived and already with that they were ahead. I had their Green apple salad, which had mixed greens, blue cheese and a lot of other quality fresh ingredients. I enjoyed it very much, and my wife really liked her onions soup. It came hot! as she cant stand cold or just warm food. So far this place is way ahead! I ordered the prosciutto wrapped halibut, I dont recall what it came with but my goodness it was very very good and enjoyable. My wife ordered the filet migno and enjoyed that very much, bonus for her it came with some very yummy potatoes gratin. We gave each other a few bites of our dishes and we very pleased and impressed.
This is a great place to come try, and now will be part of my places to come eat on my rotation of great places to eat in Reno.
Not a restaurant to enjoy a nice, quiet evening dining with friends. The noise level was so loud we left before dessert. Our party of 5 won't be back.
I have enjoyed at least one visit to Beaujolais every time I have been in the Reno area. The food is over the top and the service is attentive without being intrusive.
This place is an excellent spot for date night or a special occasion like an anniversary dinner. The food was wonderful, although I wish they had a few more selections. I would love to come back for a dinner paired with wine!
Food was excellent. Service was lacking for the money we spent. Waitress did not know how to describe specials or some regular items on the menu. We had to ask for a spoon for the soup and wondered when a drink was going to arrive.
On the other hand, the hostess was up on bringing bread, clearing plates. Will come back and try again.
Fantastic French food, absolutely love! Will be back again.
Consistent and delicious
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is amazing and I’ve gotten to know the staff well over the years. I especially enjoy the outside patio.
The food is outstanding. The service is great. There is, however, an issue with the table we've sat at the last two times we've dined here. There is a group of tables, that if sat at, ensures you are basically sitting with another couple. The tables are so close together that you can't help but hear everything the other couple is discussing. It's like being on a double date with strangers. The upside, it makes me realize what a catch my husband is - awesome manners, skilled at the art of conversations, etc. The downside, spending a lot of money on dinner while being subjected to the inane conversations of strangers.
We've decided that we will specifically request not to be sat at these tables when making our next reservation or simply refuse to sit there if led to the tables in the future. The food is really outstanding at Beaujolais. I highly recommend the charcuterie plate.
Excellent food and service! Everything we had was delicious and creative. Service was on point. The ambiance was romantic and the interior was cozy. Highly recommend!
Multiple visits and nothing short of excellent each time. Truly excellent French cuisine and attentive service. Quiet and intimate setting. Not inexpensive but worth it.
This is our second visit to Beaujolais. We enjoyed it so much the first time that we drove from Sacramento to Reno specifically to celebrate our friends birthday. Both times we sat at a table on the front porch and were fortunate to have Chloe as our waiter on each occasion. The service was just as amazing as the first time. We again had the duck cigars as an appetizer which we highly recommend. My husband had the hanger steak with frites. I think that was my favorite meal. My friend really enjoyed the scallop special. Our other friend and I had the halibut. It was a delicious preparation my only complaint was mine was a little dry. I just wish they were a bit closer to Sacramento!
Have been here several times and always had a great experience with the food and service. So it was disappointing to have such poor service and mediocre food. It was a Sunday night so not very busy. None of the servers noticed we didn’t have bread plates. My entree which was on the price fixe menu made me regret ordering seafood on Sunday. One one of the scallops was cooked properly, the lobster tasted fishy, and the shrimp was too salty. One of the shrimps looked grey and undercooked. The server kindly took my meal off the bill. However, it was a real damper on my husband’s birthday meal. Thankfully, his filet mignon and salad was on point! So not all was lost.
Excellent restaurant, great food foie gras as appetizer was delicious, then quail as main course. Noodles were a little over cooked, otherwise everything perfect. Service very attentive. Nice atmosphere, nice people! Would go back in a heartbeat!
I enjoyed the experience of eating at Beaujolais Bistro but the food as much.
The restaurant is located in a charming Craftsman style house on the tree lined Riverside Drive across from the Truckee River right next to the popular Hub Coffee Roasters. Service was fine; attentive w/o being intrusive.
My GF & I both chose the prixe fixe menu for the day and shared the wine tasting. However, before that, we asked to receive an order of foie gras and a glass of beaujolais. The foie gras accompanied w/a cherry sauce was well cooked and served on an extremely hot plate. The beaujolais paired well w/the foie gras. This was the best part of our meal.
The prixe fixe menu were far less successful. Since the menu changes frequently, I won't go into the details except to say that various plates were improperly seasoned, various seafood items were grossly overcooked and presentation was of various plates was unappealing. The wine pairings for the 1st 2 courses were ok. I was allowed to sub a sauvignon blanc for a chardonnay w/the main course w/o cost; I cannot drive chardonnay gives me headaches. However, neither of us cared for the sweet wine paired w/the desert.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience but, if I eat there again, which is not beyond question, I would make the plate/wine selections myself rather than trust those offered prixe fixe.
We had a lovely time. The service was excellent. Although the menu is small, all that we chose was delicious (beet salad, prosciutto wrapped halibut, scallop/lobster/clam special). The atmosphere is really nice and not so loud you can't talk. Very nice!
We liked the salads. The scallops were good. The duck breast was tough and stringy. Waitress was pleasant.
Was only in Reno for 2 days & wanted something special for a friend's big birthday. We were so lucky to find this place. The converted house it's in is charming, the service was super friendly & attentive, and the food was excellent - not a single off note. The innovative flavors, the gorgeous presentation, just everything was great.
Had the fillet, was excellent. Our waiter Lee was also excellent.
Excellent in every way! Thank you
Very comfortable space, food nicely prepared and well presented.
What a perfect spot for a special dinner!! Love the interior - so cosy.
The food was all delicious and we 5 all ordered something different and every plate was totally cleaned. The waiters were exceptional and so kind to our 10 year old granddaughter who was nervous about eating in such a fancy restaurant.
The food was perfect. Escargot and French onion were wonderful. Our waiter was very impressive. Will go back if we ever have a chance.
It was our first time at the bistro and it came highly recommended. It did not disappoint. Our meal was excellent. We had an issue with being forgotten ( don't know how that happened ) but the staff generously made up for it. I definitely will return.
Fun enthusiastic service. The food did not possess the French culinary art I expected. I thought it would have more depth of flavor and more flair in presentation. The halibut was not notable French fare in my opinion. One note and average overall. Big space but tables were to close together to feel intimate.
Fantastic as always! Chef and owner Bill Gilbert always has fantastic, creative and mouth watering dishes to choose from. What makes his food so good is the care he places on every dish that leaves the kitchen. And the Sauces! OMG the Sauces! From port reduction over duck, to white wine and mustard reduction on the rabbit. True french cooking can be heavenly, and Beaujolais has mastered it in an american style of serving everything on one plate. That said they do offer a Prix Fixe menu in the true French style of 6 courses including dessert which can be paired with a selection of wines for a reasonable price.
I've been going to Beaujolais for years (since the original location on West St) and will continue to go as long as Chef Gilbert is the owner and creative force behind the menu.
Excellent food and wine at reasonable prices given the excellent quality of the food. I heard another diner complain that the anchovy sauce with the lamb was too salty but I found it was just fine and the accompanying Duck Confit was crispy perfection. Service is attentive given that they were a little understaffed on the night that I was there due to an unexpectedly high number of diners.
